Item #: SCP-????
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-???? should remain under constant surveillance via earth orbit satellites, surveillance drones, and reconnaissance teams. Sightings of abnormal or threatening behavior should be recorded in physical logs and documents by any personnel in proximity of SCP-????. Should there be any sighting of the to exit its territorial boundaries and aim to Antarctic shores, MTF Units ("Flooded Terror") and ("Coalescence") are to be deployed for the recontainment of the entity under Protocol Zenith. Any form of electronic and radio communication is prohibited in an 8km radius from SCP-????'s vicinity, unless authorized. Security personnel are to be stationed in Observation Towers 1-41, with daily evaluations of electromagnetic minefields and primary defensive machinery placed ahead of aforementioned towers.
Civilians are to be kept at a distance of 4km away from SCP-????. Civilian contact with SCP-???? is to be met with non-lethal force, with the individual interrogated, screened, and amnesticized before being released at Area-██.
Teams consisting of four D-Class personnel are to be sent into SCP-????'s territory twice a week, and a team of two researchers and three security staff are to be sent once a week. Personnel are to record physical descriptions of the terrain 3 kilometers from Lake Vostok's position, including any discovered metallic remains, structures, and any unnatural formation presently not known by the Foundation. Revaluations of locations that exhibit aforementioned features are to exclusively be done by Foundation Personnel above Class D. Such teams are to also examine SCP-???? for any notable information in physical appearance, behavior, and internal function if possible. Expeditions last for at least a period of three hours, which are then to return to the facility.
Personnel assigned to the observation of SCP-???? are to be checked post-expedition for biological hazards, including infectious agents in particular. Security personnel involved in the surveillance of the entity are to be interchanged with other security personnel in reserve after a twelve-hour cycle to recover. Staff are also to be voluntarily offered "Linda's Specialty" every week.
Description: SCP-???? is a quadrupedal terrestrial entity with unknown species. The entity is estimated to be 90 meters tall and roughly 74 meters long. SCP-???? comprises of a combination of metallic and organic features that, despite exposure to oxygen and moisture, SCP-????'s metallic shell has shown no signs of oxidation nor has the organic interior reacted to stimulus. Separations in the metallic plating reveal distinct, luminescent, silver fluids with unknown properties.
SCP-????'s exterior appears to be mostly made out of an unknown, metallic compound. The metallic compound acts as protection and a structural support for the entity, as the object's legs are primarily constructed of the unknown metal. Additionally, the entity's stance holds a striking similarity to those of ordinary anthropoids. SCP-???? possesses two pairs of luminescent, curved optics and a large circular mouthpiece which emits a similar color to aforementioned fluids. The head itself is capable of a full range of motion, despite having a similar neck structure of reptilians from the Testudinata clade.
SCP-????'s interior is organic, as thermal testing indicates prodigious amounts of heat radiating from its central body. SCP-???? does not require any form of food source to sustain itself, leaving whether or not the entity has digestive organ systems up for debate. The organic interior is capable of manipulating its matter for a variety of purposes.
While communication with the entity is in very limited intervals, SCP-???? appears to be sapient and multilingual. The entity's multilingualism is hypothesized to be parapsychological in nature, allowing individuals of all known languages to converse with SCP-????. SCP-???? typically maintains a phlegmatic tone in conversation, notably claiming to express a "natural abhorrence" towards humanity despite additionally sharing a mutual respect.
SCP-???? is able of radio and technological manipulation, capable of short-circuiting more compact devices or listening into radiocommunication. SCP-???? also demonstrates a passive effect on visual media, causing the entity to appear as a near exclusively black figure. This corresponding effect has a similar result to the piece of media itself, rendering the image or clip in gray-scale instead of colored. This effect is frequently associated with the aforementioned ability.
SCP-???? is capable of discharging an adhesive, silver fluid. The liquid is searing hot, achieving temperatures approximately near 8,000 K. Additionally, the substance appears capable of transitioning from a molten state to a solid state in a matter of moments and can notably deviate gravity, presumably by the entity's will. Its lower "jaws" are capable of opening, exposing a core where the fluid is discharged. SCP-???? additionally has an excess of organic mass, resulting into tendril-like appendages from random pores across its body, capable of extending or folding in a variety of angles.
Addendum ????-A: Discovery
SCP-???? was discovered on █/█/20█ by expedition staff of the Vostok Station, a nearby Russian research station. SCP-???? had been spotted engulfed in snow after a recent blizzard, with its legs and head visible near Vostok Lake. A team consisting of Field Agent █████ and two members of MTF Unit Kilo-4 posing as United Nations officials were sent in to investigate the report and interview a researcher of Vostok Station, Dr. ██████. Additionally, multiple reports from other expedition teams had claimed to have discovered metallic structures, stating them to be "otherworldly" in nature.
During the interview, Dr. ██████ elaborates on the station's experience with SCP-????, with a given account of ventures made by expedition teams to search for the entity and issues with technology in the station. He additionally mentioned his own empirical experience with the entity, detailing "a swarm, yet such an organized swarm" of small drones disorienting them before fleeing.
After the interview, all personnel of Vostok Station are transported to Area-██ and treated with Class-B amnestics, then returned to the Russian government, excluding Doctor ██████ for [REDACTED]. The Foundation began the rebranding of Vostok Station as Foundation property shortly after.
A reconnaissance team investigated the given coordinates of SCP-????'s discovery. SCP-???? had not been present, with the body of Doctor ██ and the two mentioned accomplices never being recovered. However, scraps of believed remains of SCP-????'s exterior plating had been recovered and delivered to Area-██ for research. Additionally, a sample of silver fluid that strongly resembles the silver fluid seen in SCP-????'s crevasses has been recovered from the exterior plating and has undergone chemical analysis.
Addendum ????-B: Initial Contact
On 1/13/201█, a month after Dr. ██████'s interview, security personnel on Area-██'s exterior walls reported a sighting of what was believed to be SCP-???? observing the facility atop the Transantarctic Mountains. Technology, including computer monitors, cellphones, navigation devices and [REDACTED] had been displaying a jumbled screen with a transmission1.
Two hours after making preparations, a team consisting of three containment specialists with tactical response assets of fireteam Seagate approached SCP-????'s location approximately one hour after departure. MTF Unit Kilo-4 secured the perimeter for security purposes. A transcript of the encounter between Containment Specialist Jackson and SCP-???? is provided below.
