Item #: SCP-3XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3XXX is to be kept within an abandoned air force hangar in ███████, Missouri until an appropriate method of transportation is able to be implemented. SCP-3XXX is to be rotated in such a way that it’s apparent front is facing perpendicular to the nearest wall.
Description: SCP-3XXX is a collection of several electronic devices which are connected by what appears to be several standard USB 2.0 cables. While they do not appear to be anomalous in any capacity, when compared to the rest of SCP-3XXX, these cables seem much newer than any other component, having an internal structure similar to modern fiber optic cables.
The main body of SCP-3XXX-A is a large, off-white sphere measuring approximately 9m in diameter. SCP-3XXX-A is placed on a large cradle which allows the sphere to be rotated omnidirectionally to face any direction with only minor interference from the cables attatched in the back. The front of SCP-3XXX-A is adorned with a large glass aperature which seemingly functions similarly to the pupil of the eye, contracting expanding based on local light levels.
SCP-3XXX-B is a Dell desktop computer, originally manufactured in 1987. At some point, the operating system of the computer had been entirely replaced with a custom program which appears to allow native compatibility with SCO-3XXX-A. Based on the age of the parts of SCP-3XXX-A, it is believed that previous versions of SCP-3XXX-B have been used but no such instances have been reported.
When SCP-3XXX-A and SCP-3XXX-B are connected via several colored ports at the back of SCO-3XXX-A, SCP-3XXX enters its active state. After, a boot-up period of approximately 12 seconds, SCP-3XXX-A will align itself with magnetic north before beginning to freely rotate in its cradle. At this time, the monitor of SCO-3XXX-B will begin to render a very low quality interpretation of light data collected by SCP-3XXX-A. How this data is collected is currently unknown as the interior of SCP-3XXX-A appears to be lacking any light detecting components.
SCP-3XXX appears to have some innate processing ability as it has been shown to turn to observe motion and to look away from sudden flashes of bright light.
When a living, organic subject is placed within the field of view of SCP-3XXX-A, SCP-3XXX will enter its scanning mode. SCP-3XXX-A will begin to project light at several different frequencies to gather information about the subject. If the subject is a non-sentient creature, it will be scanned for no more than 6 seconds before SCO-3XXX returns to its active state. If the subject is a sentient creature however, the subject will begin to seemingly melt as their body is torn apart at an atomic level by an unknown mixture of frequencies of light. The length of this process is directly related to the size of the subject.
The purpose of the process is unknown and pending further experimentation.
