Item #: SCP-7009
Object Class: Keter Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-7009, no known containment procedures have been found to be possible or necessary. Subject has been given two 25 sq. meter adjoining rooms furnished with modest accommodations and is allowed to roam the facility and interact with Foundation staff at will. Subject has shown to be thus far content to remain in Foundation custody.
SCP-7009 has been known to leave the Foundation premises at Site-██ on occasion. This is to be not to be considered a breach of containment however subject is to be tracked and monitored by Mobile Task Force [DATA EXPUNGED] during these instances.
Description: SCP-7009 appears as a male humanoid of athletic build, seemingly of Mediterranean phenotype, approximately mid-30s in age, standing 1.92m (6'3") and weighing approximately 84kg (185lbs). Subject possesses dark, shoulder-length brown hair and bioluminescent, pupil-less eyes that shift in color sporadically and seemingly at random between all colors of the visible light spectrum.
SCP-7009 has demonstrated capabilities of situational omniscience, which when questioned about this ability has referred to as being able to "see the truth of things". Further attempts at discerning the nature and extent of this ability have proven difficult and have generally only been observed in non-test conditions as subject has been been generally unwilling or unable to cooperate with experiment log efforts. Use of this ability does not appear to be limited in scope or potential and efforts to utilize this ability for the Foundation's benefit have been met with hostility from the subject. SCP-7009's precision when using this ability has been shown to be correlative to the amount of concentration expended during the time of "activation".
Subject has been shown to accomplish seemingly impossible feats after concentrating on an unknown or unknowable piece of information. SCP-7009's eyes have been observed to change color depending on the nature of what it is considering, though at present it is unknown if its eyes are the source of this ability or a byproduct effect of the anomaly. Evidence suggests that [DATA EXPUNGED].
Displays of this ability have been extensively observed and include:
- Opening locks regardless of constructed material, clearance level or sophistication of mechanism.
- Viewing redacted, omitted or confidential information, or data limited by security clearance.
- Solve complex cryptography and mathematical equations, complete astronomy maps of currently uncharted locations, discuss quantum and theoretical physics without prior knowledge of field, and provide unrecorded historical data impossible to verify.
- Has conversed with flawless dialect in every language presented to subject.
- Seemingly aware of events from unrecorded or reality warping phenomena and appears to be mostly unaffected by the reality warping abilities of other SCPs.
- Recited facts of deeply personal or intimate nature to individuals it has conversed with.
SCP-7009 rarely speaks and interviews with subject have been met with either severe reluctance or outright refusal to provide any information that would assist the Foundation in [DATA EXPUNGED] and efforts to extract further details of what little information has been given have resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED].
SCP-7009 is colloquially referred to as "Nine" due to frequent use of Foundation personnel when referring to subject and will respond when addressed as such. Subject can often be found staring into space and will frequently ignore its surroundings for prolonged periods of time unless addressed. When questioned about such behavior SCP-7009 responds with "just thinking".
Addendum 7009-A: [Interview with Dr. █████]
Interviewed: [SCP-7009]
Interviewer: [Dr. █████]
Foreword: [12th attempt to determine nature of Subject's ability. First interaction with subject that has yielded any worthwhile data.]
<Begin Log, [09:00]>
Dr. █████: Good Morning Nine. Do you know why we brought you here?
SCP-7009: I do. You wish to know more of me.
Dr. █████: That's one way to put it. You have been witnessed to perform seemingly impossible tasks with no prior knowledge or information about how to accomplish said tasks.
SCP-7009: As you see it. Not so impossible if you know how to do it.
Dr. █████: What do you mean?
SCP-7009: "Knowledge" is not the same as "understanding".

Addendum 7009-B: [Interview with Dr. Quest]
Interviewed: [SCP-7009]
Interviewer: [Dr. Quest]
Foreword: [1st interview with subject to determine nature of anomaly]
<Begin Log, [17:00]>
Dr. Quest: SCP-7009, we would like to request that you use your ability to assist us, help mankind and solve many of the problems we currently contend with. Not to mention how to deal with troublesome skips.
SCP-7009: Dr…that is not as easy as it seems.
Dr. Quest: Why not? Why can't you just start writing on a legal pad right now and not stop until you have an encyclopedia of every useful fact and piece of information written down. Or why can't we give you a list of questions and you can answer them.
SCP-7009: I'm unable to do that. Sometimes we are able to know something and yet be powerless to do anything with that knowledge. If you gave the schematics of an internal combustion engine to a Neanderthal man, would he be able to use that knowledge you've just bestowed upon him to create it?
Dr. Quest: So you're comparing us to cavemen?
SCP-7009: You misunderstand. You have so much history to learn from and yet you cannot escape how to think. What has history taught you? What has science told you? If there is anything to know for certain, it is that you know nothing for certain, is it not? As you discover more about the world around you, you learn you know less of what there is to know. For every door opened, another two appear. Think not as if you were going down a checklist of "what is" and "what is not", but instead of "what could be" and what you do not know that you could know.
Dr. Quest: Is there a limit to what you can "see the truth of"?SCP-7009: There are limits to all things Dr. Quest. I am no exception.

Addendum 7009-C: [Observation Log]
Observation Entry T-98816-OC108/7009
Anomalous Ability Observations of SCP-7009
Attempts to study SCP-7009's ability under controlled conditions have been met with non-compliance from SCP-7009 and details have been almost entirely observed as incidental events. The following are logged observations of such events.
Observed Event 1A85:
Subject seen in Foundation recreation room staring at ceiling. SCP-7009 sits across the room from four D-Class as they jointly view a book titled "Difficult Cryptography & Puzzles: 9th Edition". After twenty minutes, D-Class leave for active assignments. After several minutes, SCP-7009 gets up and moves to puzzle book and proceeds to fill in answers without pause to entirety of 252 page book in 17 min. 6 sec.
Notes: SCP-7009's eyes observed to shift slightly in color while completing book.
Observed Event 296D:
Researcher Thompson returning from late shift in research room █ and notices SCP-7009 in recreation room playing piano. Researcher Thompson stays to listen until playing has finished and asks SCP-7009 what he was playing, to which SCP-7009 states "something few have heard". Researcher Thompson leaves room thirty seconds after playing ends and SCP-7009 leaves shortly afterward.
Notes: Video playback identifies music played as "Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor", with several minutes of similar sounding but unknown movements afterwards.
Observed Event 40H8:
Agent Barkley witnesses SCP-7009 exit Site-██ and immediately rushes to intercept.
Agent Barkley: Nine! Nine! Are you alright? Why are you outside the facility? Do you need anything?
SCP-7009: I'm just fine William, thank you. Sunshine is good for the soul and I'm simply getting a bit of fresh air.
Agent Barkley: Why are you on the East side? The main gate is on the West.
SCP-7009: Oh, I knew I would be less conspicuous here and I prefer not to make a scene when possible.
Agent Barkley: …but…how? There are six encrypted key pads and a level four clearance protocol to get to this gate…
SCP-7009: It's not important. Would you like to walk with me for a few moments?
Agent Barkley: Uh…sure. Thanks.
Notes: Agent Barkley accompanied SCP-7009 for approximately twelve minutes before both returned to the facility and containment.
Observed Event 645V:
The following interaction was occurred before a scheduled interview and testing of SCP-049 while SCP-049 was at briefly at Site-██. SCP-049 was in transit to designated test room when SCP-7009 crossed the path of escort team.
Interaction with SCP-049
SCP-049: Excusez-moi, monsieur.
Notes: No previous instances of SCP-7009 speaking French have been recorded.
Notes: Possible correlation between shade of eye color and SCP-9999's object of attention. Further testing required.
O5 CLEARANCE REQUIRED. ACCESS TO OBSERVATION LOGS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON PAIN OF DEATH.
The highly unique and esoteric nature of SCP-7009 has attracted the attention of O5 Command, who have cleared anomalous testing of subject to determine the limits and potential advantageous use of SCP-7009's power. The following experimental/observation logs detail a series of interactions with SCP-7009 and other anomalous entities in addition to classified interviews with SCP-7009 by Dr. ██████ Quest, a researcher with level 4 clearance assigned primary study of SCP-7009.
Addendum 7009-3F:
"Nine's ability appears to be far more vast than we originally thought. There appears to be no limit to what he can perceive or "truth" he can "see". The nature of his power seems only to be hindered by his current understanding or perception, or what he focuses on at the time. Should 7009 "see" something he gives attention to, the truth will seemingly reveal itself to him. However, if 7009 does not think of something, or does not think to think of it, the "truth" will not be made clear to him and he will remain ignorant of the knowledge. Put simply, I believe that 7009 must give something his active consideration in order to understand the truths associated with his consideration. This limitation seemingly inhibits him from having total and complete knowledge of all that exists. If I had to describe it, I imagine his power can be compared to shining a ray of light onto a shadowed page of a book. All that is shadowed remains unknown to the reader until a light is cast upon an area, at which point the text can be read. Only by actively shining a light is the truth illuminated. Extrapolating details or clarification from 7009 has proven to be difficult and frankly, an irritating task as he does often simply ignores questions." - Personal journal entry of Dr. Quest.

Test Log T-98816-OC108/7009
Cross-SCP Ability Testing for SCP-7009
Item: SCP-343
Test Parameters:
Interaction unintentional.
Test Record:
SCP-7009 walks with several Foundation staff when group passes by containment room of SCP-343. SCP-343 exits room with Agent Keen, who had been visiting SCP-343, and walks several steps into hallway as Agent Keen leaves vicinity. SCP-7009 and SCP-343 notice one another and both stare without expression for several moments before SCP-7009 bows slightly with his right hand over his heart, not breaking eye contact, saying "Majesty", before continuing on route to destination. SCP-343 does not react or engage with SCP-7009 but stares as SCP-7009 continues walking until out of site, upon which SPC-343 returns to quarters.
Whether SCP-7009 has been in contact with SCP-343 previously or if interaction is a result of SCP-7009's ability has yet to be determined. It is unclear if greeting was title, reverence, jest or deeper meaning.
Item: SCP-682
Test Parameters:
Inquiry into whether SCP-7009 possesses knowledge of possible termination method of SCP-682
Test Record:
SCP-7009 is asked if it knows a method for destroying SCP-682 permanently, without destruction to Foundation, humanity, Earth or current reality.
SCP-7009 considers the question for eleven minutes as its eyes shift between colors every few moments. Subject's eyes become white and momentarily lose their luminescence before returning to normal. Subject appears visibly fatigued and haggard.
SCP-7009: There…is a way. Though even if you I told you, it wouldn't matter.
Further attempts for explanation and elaboration of answer are met with silence from subject.
SCP-7009's ability to know a truth does not appear to assist in using uncovered truth. - Dr. Quest
Item: SCP-053
Test Parameters:
Dr. █████ inquiry into whether SCP-9999 possesses knowledge of possible termination of SCP-682
Test Record:
SCP-9999 is asked if it knows a method for destroying SCP-682 permanently, without destruction to Foundation, humanity, Earth or current reality.
SCP-9999 considers the question for seventeen minutes as its eyes shift between colors every few moments. Subject seems visibly fatigued and haggard after which its eyes become all white and momentarily lose their luminescence.
SCP-999: Yes. Unfortunately, with nothing that you or your organization here and now possess.
Further attempts for explanation and elaboration of answer are met with silence from subject.
//Notes from Dr. Quest's personal log:
"The more I see and observe Nine, the more angry I become. He seems to have limitless knowledge that he can simply pull from an ethereal Google search. Why he doesn't use this ability to further mankind is beyond my understanding. There must be some piece that I'm missing. The only explanation I can gather is that he is in this world but not of this world. //

//This guy is ridiculous. No matter what we throw at him, he seems to come out just fine and yet he never retaliates, attacks or attempts to cause permanent injury to anything else. It's as if none of pwoer //
Editor notes:
- How the fuck do you know about my daughter?
- Know she is in pain versus understanding her pain as she feels it
- Princess Bride - I know something you don't know
- I am not special, the powers I employ are available to all to use, if you know how.
- Interaction with SCP-3001?
-"Hello little ones" (eye pods)
- Well for one thing, it is incredibly boring. Without the excitement of "discovery"
7009 speaks very infrequently. Interview one time unloads his guts.
In the world but not of the world
Brute force, knowledge skeleton key
None have power over him but in return he is powerless
Subject complete understanding of whatever SCP-9999 considers, providing the Subject with intimate and seemingly limitless knowledge about the object of attention.
