Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX has been breached from the facility and is currently undergoing investigation by mobile task force units. In the instance that SCP-XXXX has been recontained the following procedures are to be enforced: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard Safe-class object container. All tests involving the consumption of SCP-XXXX are to be forbidden unless permitted by O5. Any test involving the complete destruction of SCP-XXXX is strictly forbidden and is not allowed to operate even with O5 permission. When interacting with SCP-XXXX (directly or not) there is to be one personnel spectating the interaction. Any subject that has come into contact with SCP-XXXX is to be put under evaluation immediately and questioned for symptoms of SCP-XXXX-2 instance formation.
In the event that a subject shows symptoms of being an SCP-XXXX-2 instance, the subject is to be contained within Class-E containment and put under constant surveillance. If the interactor shows no symptoms of being an SCP-XXXX-2 instance, the interactor is to be released from interrogation and is to carry out normal duties.
All SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be contained within separate 8 ft x 6 ft x 6 ft containment units. Due to the breach of SCP-XXXX-1-7, all SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be put through constant surveillance. All surveillance cameras within the containment units are to be checked on a weekly basis for damages. Any damages found upon the security cameras are to be immediately reported to O5. Under no circumstances are any SCP-XXXX-2 instances and SCP-XXXX/SCP-XXXX-1 instances to be within a 10 mile radius of each other.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an autonomous, whole grain loaf of bread. Upon being damaged, SCP-XXXX will regenerate damaged parts using contacting materials. When in contact with solid materials, a grey doughy substance will grow upon SCP-XXXX filling and repairing any damaged areas of SCP-XXXX. This doughy substance will then harden and take on a more bread-like structure. Further analysis of the growth will reveal it to have the same chemical makeup as whatever material SCP-XXXX was in physical contact with during the regeneration process. This process has been referred to as “the solid repairment effect” and can take from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the solidity of the materials used.
When in contact with liquids, SCP-XXXX will begin rapidly producing an unknown form of mold. The mold will proceed to grow upon SCP-XXXX filling and repairing any damaged areas of SCP-XXXX. This process has been referred to as “the molditation effect”. This process can take from 10 minutes to an hour. This form of regeneration will also occur when contact between SCP-XXXX and other substances become nonexistent, or if the tissue of an organism is the only material in contact with SCP-XXXX.
After one hour of consumption of SCP-XXXX, consumers will report feeling dizzy and will present flu-like symptoms. After these symptoms become present, the consumer’s organs will begin to shut down. This process can take from thirty minutes to an hour. Consumers of SCP-XXXX report no pain during this process and even describe themselves as feeling “warm” and “safe”. After the consumer dies, their body will harden keeping them in whatever pose they were in before death. Immediately after the consumer dies there tissue will slowly alter until the consumer’s body has completely transformed into bread. The consumer’s skin will become bloated with several air pockets forming within their body during this process. This process can take from fifteen days to three months. After the process has been completed, a pulse will reform within the deceased consumer (designated SCP-XXXX-1). Despite SCP-XXXX-1 instances having a pulse; the instances will not move and will remain in a hibernation-type state. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 possess the same regenerative properties as SCP-XXXX, yet pose no threat if consumed. There are twelve known instances of SCP-XXXX-1, but only eleven instances are currently contained.
While SCP-XXXX does not commonly evoke emotions in personnel, 5% of those who interact with SCP-XXXX report possessing the ability to hear and speak to SCP-XXXX and report feeling “enlightened” by SCP-XXXX (Any personnel who reports these emotions are designated as SCP-XXXX-2 instances). SCP-XXXX-2 instances will continue to hear and obsess over SCP-XXXX no matter how far away or how long it has been since they have interacted with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-2 instances will continue to search for personnel to consume SCP-XXXX and will continuously attempt to breach SCP-XXXX from containment. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 will often store SCP-XXXX-1 instances in a room or shelter. Attempting to enter these rooms or shelters will often result in SCP-XXXX-2 instances becoming hostile. After an unset amount of years, the instance of SCP-XXXX-2 will proceed to consume SCP-XXXX; turning themselves into an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. There have only been nine recorded instances of SCP-XXXX-2.
Addendum-XXXX-1: Discovery
SCP-XXXX was first discovered in █/██/1973 in █████████, Florida. SCP-XXXX came to the foundation’s attention after several disappearances had been reported within the area. SCP-XXXX-2-1 and SCP-XXXX were found on ███ ███████ Rd. in a single-wide mobile home. During the containment of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-2-1 made attempts to attack the MTF epsilon 6 units but was terminated in the process. SCP-XXXX-2-1 was immediately hospitalized after the instance but died within Site-██ at █:██ AM, █/██/1973. Nine instances of SCP-XXXX-1 were found in the bedroom of the mobile home and were taken in for analysis. One civilian named [REDACTED] was also found within the mobile home bound to a metal bed frame. Subject was taken in for interrogation, administered Class-B amnestics, and released from the facility.
Addendum-XXXX-2: Incidents
SCP-XXXX-1-7 was reported missing from its containment unit on █/██/1997. No damages could be found within the unit and all attempts to locate where SCP-XXXX-1-7 escaped proved futile. All surrounding security cameras showed extensive damage and all footage from █:███, █/██/1997 to █:███, █/██/1997 within the site are unavailable. The whereabouts of SCP-XXXX-1-7 are currently unknown and investigations are ongoing.
Dr. Evergreen (believed to be a current instance of SCP-XXXX-2) was spotted performing tests on SCP-XXXX on █/██/1984. Testing reports show that Dr. Evergreen passed evaluation, but left the foundation one week prior to testing. SCP-XXXX was reported missing on the same day as Dr. Evergreen’s resignation and it is believed Dr. Evergreen breached SCP-XXXX from containment. Attempts to locate Dr. Evergreen’s whereabouts have failed. Several letters, signed under the name of “Breadcocks” (believed to be Dr. Evergreen), have been sent to the foundation with information on the events behind SCP-XXXX’s whereabouts.
