Item #: SCP- XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained at discovery site within an abandoned electrical power station in [REDACTED], New Jersey surrounded by a 12-meter high, barb-wired electric fence patrolled in shifts by pairs of armed SCP Security Officers.
Surrounding SCP-XXXX itself is a 12-centimeter thick, 6-meter high wall of lead-lined steel and brick patrolled by additional two-man SCP teams. As per site director's orders, entrance to SCP-XXXX must remain shut AT ALL TIMES.
Description: Exterior of SCP-XXXX, dubbed "the room," is a ██ by ██ by ██-meter space complete with four chalk white walls, roof, and a maroon, mahogany door with a polished silver knob. Opening the door reveals an interior area ██ times what the exterior measurements suggest.
The interior is divided into quadrants which includes a floor of lit, semi-translucent white tiles; one long-stemmed standing steel lamp with a single bulb in Quadrant 1; one long white couch spanning Quadrant 2 and Quadrant 3; one white sofa chair in Quadrant 4 (Updated: See Addendum XXXX-1); and white ceiling tiles which emit a fluorescent glow. Source of power to lights are unknown at this time as the room does not feed from the local power grid.
Anomalous event, dubbed "the test," immediately begins when a subject sets foot inside SCP-XXXX.
TEST: Upon entering SCP-XXXX subject must walk backwards at a speed of no less than 1 m/s in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction covering the outer perimeter of the room until they come once again to the door which they must also exit backwards.
Failure to conduct the test properly results in the subject immediately vanishing for an indeterminate amount of time after which subject's body is expelled from the room rendered inside-out, fatally exposing most if not all internal organs (dubbed "the consequence"). Subject typically succumbs to shock and/or exsanguination within 1-2 minutes (longest case of survival: ██ minutes, ██ seconds. See TEST ██-F for [REDACTED]).
The consequence immediately goes into effect the moment subject:
- …slows to less than 1 m/s walking speed or halts progress entirely for any reason (i.e. accidentally bumps into any piece of furniture or stops of their own volition)
- …attempts counterclockwise movement facing forward (i.e., steps forward into the room and attempts the test as is)
- …makes any movement forward, laterally, or in any direction other than backwards midway through the test
Subject attempting the test assisted via bicycle, unicycle (See TEST 043-IN), tricycle, wheelchair, or other similar means of mechanical assistance renders SCP-XXXX inert and the test will not activate. WARNING: If subject's foot touches the ground for any reason during mechanical assistance the test immediately activates and the consequence will play out upon failure (See TEST 067-F).
Additionally, subject must possess the use of both legs for the test to occur: During TEST 111-IN Subject D-4243 missing one of their legs at the thigh was able to enter and exit the room without triggering the test or its resultant consequence.
Video and audio recording equipment have been installed with the use of remote-controlled drones. NOTE: Drones and bipedal robots cannot trigger the test and are not subject to the consequence.
Based on the above findings the Foundation concludes the test can only be triggered by way of natural bipedal, human locomotion.
SCP-XXXX was first discovered in ██/██/20██ when students from [REDACTED] discovered it while skipping afternoon classes. After securing site students were detained and administered Level 5 amnestics.
At this time, all tests involving SCP-XXXX are suspended indefinitely unless authorized by no less than three Level 4 personnel or higher.
