Special Containment Procedures: Any Foundation personnel stationed in facilities in the Midwestern region of the United States¹, particularly those involved with the containment of Euclid and Keter-class entities or the termination of personnel, are to be screened for hemophobia and relocated to other facilities accordingly. Additionally, personnel who experience SCP-XXXX often are to be provided with water, rubbing alcohol, and any other material used to clean the hands.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon affecting various Foundation personnel stationed within the Midwestern United States (image provided above), occurring at an average frequency of 2-3 reported instances per month. Personnel affected by SCP-XXXX typically work in positions requiring them to perform morally dubious acts, including:

• Containment of SCPs for an extended amount of time
• Amnesticization of witnesses of anomalous events
• Physical violence
• Termination of personnel and SCPs

For the duration of SCP-XXXX's events, individuals will report viscous quantities of blood appearing on their hands.² This blood will appear on the subject's hands until they are entirely covered, after which the blood will cease to form. The blood produced by SCP-XXXX (hereby denoted as SCP-XXXX-1) is particularly adhesive, drying relatively quickly and sticking onto skin very easily. If left to dry for approximately 12-14 hours, SCP-XXXX-1 will form a short sentence, written in plain script, on the palms on the subject's hands.³ These sentences are often accusatory in manner, often chastising the subject for an action they have performed, usually ones violent in nature.

SCP-XXXX does not occur among D-Class personnel or SCPs. Investigation into whether or not SCP-XXXX can affect non-Foundation individuals is underway.

Addendum XXXX.1: Selected Instances of SCP-XXXX

Subject: Benjamin ██████████, Asst. Site Director at Site-17
Details: While in his office, reviewing a recent census conducted through Site-17, ██████████ found that his hands had suddenly and inexplicably been covered in dark red blood. Due to his intense aversion to blood, ██████████ immediately washed his hands and reported the transpired events to the supervising Director.
Notes: First recorded instance of SCP-XXXX. Further research into the event did not commence due to lack of evidence for a continued investigation. As of ██/██/2004, ██████████ was relocated to Site-██ to prevent further encounters with SCP-XXXX.

Subject: Alice ██████, Asst. Dir. of Task Forces at Site-11
Details: After a routine probe for anomalous activity in ████████, Missouri, ██████ reported that her hands were coated in dried blood to the acting Director. As she had been wearing gloves that night during the probe, the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 had dried to a sufficient point as to reveal the underlying message: "Give those people back their damn memories."
Notes: First recorded instance of a message appearing along SCP-XXXX. Notably, during the probe, ██████ and the accompanying task force did not amnesticize anyone within ████████ that night.

Subject: Junior Researcher █████, Head of SCP-████ at Site-11
Details: While reviewing some notes made in regards of SCP-████, █████ reported that she had been affected by SCP-XXXX to her supervisor. She was instructed to not wash her hands in order to report on the revealed message. After 12 hours, SCP-XXXX had dried to a significant point so as to reveal the message, which read: "Cruel, murderous bastards like you deserve to rot in hell."
Notes: Incidentally, the wing of Site-11 which █████ worked in only hosted Safe-class anomalies, and █████ herself had never been assigned to any occupation relating to termination, indicating that messages left over from SCP-XXXX do not need to hold relevance for the subject.

Subject: Jackson ███████, Asst. Dir. of Personnel at Site-17
Details: While on lunch break with their coworkers, it was reported that ███████ had experienced a manifestation of SCP-XXXX. At the strong suggestion of the project heads of SCP-XXXX, ███████ obliged to refrain from washing their hands in an attempt to discover the message left for them. After approximately 13 hours, the message became legible, reading: "Those D-Classes had families."
Notes: Two weeks preceding the SCP-XXXX event, ███████ had overseen the end-of-month termination of D-Class personnel, although they had stated that they neither thought anything particularly noteworthy about the termination nor felt any guilt for it.

Subject: Junior Researcher ████, Researcher for SCP-████ at Site-81
Details: During an active containment breach of SCP-████ in Site-81's humanoid containment wing, Junior Researcher ████ was affected by SCP-XXXX. His distress during the occasion resulted in the subsequent casualties of two MTF soldiers and nine researchers, including himself. Postmortem examination of ████'s body found that the message inscribed with SCP-XXXX-1 had fully revealed itself to read: "What have these people done to you?"
Notes: First recorded instance of SCP-XXXX causing notable disruption to containment protocol. Screening for hemophobia in American Foundation facilities proposed. Notably, Junior Researcher ████ was assigned SCP-████ for his first project, and he had no prior experience with containment of anomalous entities.

Addendum XXXX.2: Statement on SCP-XXXX

Foreword: On ██/██/2015, Site Director Marvin █████ at Site-17 released a statement regarding SCP-XXXX and the consequences brought about by its introduction. The following is a transcript of the said statement.

Much ire has been directed to my associates and I about how SCP-XXXX has intruded on their productivity. Much of the complaints we receive every month is in search of a clear answer for what is going on. They want to know why this keeps happening to all of us. I can empathize with that sentiment, as can much of my associates who have consistently experienced the aftermath of SCP-XXXX.

But, truth be told, we don't know what's going on either. We really can't. All of the groups of interest we have interviewed for possible leads as to the origins of SCP-XXXX have yielded all but nothing. There isn't any psychological explanation, either; SCP-XXXX is not, as many have proposed, a manifestation of any deep-seeded trauma or guilt, nor is it a result of extensive employment in the Foundation. As far as we know, it has no distinct origin.

In addition to the obscure origin of SCP-XXXX, we cannot entirely say how to prevent SCP-XXXX, aside from relocation to Foundation facilities outside of the Midwestern region. However, as it is highly unlikely to be a subject of SCP-XXXX, I doubt it would be worth abandoning the Foundation sites affected by SCP-XXXX, some of which are our largest facilities, in order to discourage the continuation of a relatively small anomaly.
