a teleporting corpse

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Item-42069 is located inside a special compartment inside Wall-11█C-██ in the D Class Holding Facilities at Site-69-C. Item-42069 is not to be removed from said wall, under any circumstance, and wall is to be checked, via the newly-implemented hatch, to ascertain whether Item-42069 is still in containment. 300 100 462, new D Class are to be rotated in, every month three weeks, except for D-████, who is to be kept in the cell adjacent to Item-42069 and kept under constant surveillance. D Class who rotate out are to [DATA EXPUNGED]. Guards are to be stationed outside the only entrance or exit to Site-69-C, and are to assist only in the event of a D Class Breach Attempt, rotating shifts every 8 hours. No higher level personnel are to sleep inside Site-69-C. All research will be done remotely in Site-69-1. Any hallucinations are to be reported to Dr Towers.

Description: Item-42069 appears to be the mummified remains of an infant boy, who died at around 4 years of age, and in advanced stages of necrotising fasciitis. Item-42069's body is heavily rotted and bears a strong stench of formaldehyde and lavender. Item is also covered in tattered clothing, who's fashion indicates to have been 19th century, Italian common-wear.

Item manifests in densely populated areas, having around 460-470 residents in an area of 50m3. Such examples include impoverished buildings, low-end studio housing complexes and prisons. It is unknown why Item-42069 materialises in only locations with poor conditions. Item manifests in difficult to access places in the centre of the area of effect, such as spaces between walls and piping. Item-42069 is naturally rigid due to Rigor Mortis, but will materialise in postures that allow it to "fit" into these places.

Item-42069's anomalous effect activates as soon as someone fall asleep in any of the two areas of effect, 30m3 from the Item (AoE-1), or 20m3 from the boundaries of AoE-1 (AoE-2). If a subject falls asleep in AoE-1, they will experience reoccurring pleasant dreams featuring Item-42069. Interviews about these dreams make subjects to Item-42069 refer to a friend, a (younger) brother or simple as Marco. In all dreams, Item-42069's appearance is identical to its physical appearance, albeit animate. Subjects who dream in AoE-1, acquire lesions and cuts on their body, similar to wounds from necrotising fasciitis, however, no bacterial life has yet to be discovered in any of these lesions and the subject does not notice these lesions unless pointed out. It is currently unknown where the dissolved tissues disappears to. Subjects appear sleep deprived and restless (even after 12 uninterrupted hours of sleep) and will have difficulties staying awake, some even developing narcolepsy. Autopsies of subjects after long exposure, have revealed mass amounts of metabolical wastes inside the brain tissue, suggesting subjects do not rest while in AoE-1. This lowered cognitive ability discourages motivation and in turn, search for Item-42069 in subject, stating that they would rather sleep. Slower brain function also works in favour of the necrotizing

Subjects falling asleep in AoE-2 will experience recurring nightmares of infant mutilation, murder and others of a baby's cry that can never be found, rendering subjects "afraid to sleep". It is important to note that, subjects in AoE-2 do not form lesions. Hallucinations of dead and/or mutilated children are also commonplace, but it is currently unknown if this caused by Item-42069's influence or by the prolonged sleep deprivation. Prolonged exposure in AoE-2 forces subjects to migrate closer to Item-42069 and into AoE-1. Prolonged exposure in AoE-1, is followed by death if this exposure exceeds 24 days, usually by exhaustion. The only D Class who has been in Item-42069's continuous influence is D-████.

Recovery Log: Item-42069 was located inside its current containment, after numerous reports of nightmares from staff and D Class performance rates plummeting, simultaneously. An investigation by the Internal Affairs and Item Mistreatment departments, were issued to locate any memetic, cognitohazardous or physical dangers inside the facility. When Item-42069 was detected using X-ray imaging, and identified to be the source of the dread all staff and SCPs were moved to Site-69-1 and designating Site-69 as Site-69-C (condemned). During initial recovery, the item was removed for analysis, however, 21 minutes after removal, instantly teleported itself back into the site of origin. Removal of object was deemed dangerous and it's current method of containment improvised. Item-42069 has never dematerialised since.

Addendum-D-████-1: D-████ is a Caucasian male, 24 years of age and 1.7m in height. Subject was sentenced for the murder of ██ people, including, both his parents and girlfriend. Psychological evaluation has determined D-████ was prone to suicide and depression, before the arrival of Item-42069. D-████ has been in AoE-1 since the item's recovery and it is currently unknown how he has not expired, as of this document. Subject is extremely advanced stages of necrotising fasciitis, appearing as a charred corpse. Much of D-████'s flesh is missing, including amounts of organ tissue, having a total mass of 28kg. D-████ is unable to walk and remains confined to his bed. D-████ claims he makes regular contact with Item-42069, as it "whispers to him when he sleeps." Microphones installed in Item-42069's containment have yet to pick up on any sound.

Addendum-D-████-2: Below is attached a poem, who's existence was pointed out when he began screaming out the parts of poem over a span of interviews with Dr Towers. D-████ claims this poem outlines the agenda and identity of Item-42069. It is important to note that because of D-████'s degraded mental state, the poem was not intelligible until many revisions of the interview audio logs. The full poem was retrieved from the Vatican Archives by embedded Foundation operatives. The poem was written by the now-thought to be defunct group of interest "Donnole del Principe" or "Weasels of the Prince", with the dating hinting Item-42069 has been active for ███ years. The following passage has been translated from Italian:

"He walked the streets with destitute and disparity,
His eyes carrying hope, and His ideas pure.
Storms of darkness brew and shroud His clarity;
His flesh eternal, His sleep pure.
To those, who are in pain, in sorrow,
His rest shall be soothing, it shall be clean,
we call, to You, our vessels to borrow,
for He, will take us, He shall feast.
Lo! He is hungry, and He must eat.
Lo! The Duke of Sorrow, the Prince in Sleep."
