The Trees are Alive

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard avian habitat cell with all wooden structures replaced with similar structures composed of concrete or steel and steel plated walls. As of 20 November 2017, security cameras are to be placed into protective steel cages to prevent damage. (See Incident E-XXXX-A)

Description: SCP-XXXX is a flock of forty birds composed entirely out of wood of varying varieties, though the most prominent is that of the English Oak¹. Instances are similar in build to the Mountain Bluebird². SCP-XXXX are internally similar to non-anomalous birds of the same species, with the exception that their organs are composed of xylem³ of the tree species they are composed of. SCP-XXXX reproduces by boring a hole approximately three centimeters in diameter larger than the instance and climbing inside. Specimens plug the hole with a hardened wood paste and go into a gestating period for a period ranging from three weeks to four months. At the end of this period, a number of specimens ranging from five to ten emerge from the tree. This reproduction process kills the tree due to nutrient deprivation. SCP-XXXX has the innate ability to locate healthy trees with which to reproduce.

Addendum:

Incident E-XXXX-A: Several SCP-XXXX instances pecked through the wires of the security cameras in their containment cell. When maintenance staff entered the cell to replace the cameras, it was revealed that the specimens had begun pecking a hole in the concrete walls of their enclosure, towards the nearby cell of SCP-████. This incident prompted the inclusion of steel cages around the security cameras and steel plating to cover the walls, as well as all wood and plant based anomalies to be stored in a seperate wing. SCP-3561 upgraded to Euclid status.
