Item #: SCP-4156
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: To find SCP-4156, a mirror must be used, with SCP-4156's true reflection appearing pitch black in mirror when spotted. Scp-4156 should be continually monitored at all times by use of mirror. Once spotted in mirror, SCP-4156 will be completely immobilize and is safe for capture and containment. However, to cancel out static sound barrier, classical music should be played on speakers surrounding SCP-4156 at all time. Any type of cover used on SCP-4156(tarp, blanket, lead-lined cloth, etc.) will have little to no affect on mirror, but help maintain mental health of of those working with it(see Placebo affect for more).
Description: SCP-4156, code name "Dark Mirror", appears as a full body silver mirror that appears to slide out of solid ground. Buzzing sound similar to TV static can start to be heard as personnel approach SCP-4156, starting at a distance of about 20ft. Buzzing intensifies as personnel come closer, before completely subsiding once approximately 5ft from either side of Mirror. Personnel seen getting right in front of mirror are observed being completely still and unresponsive, as their shadow becomes cloaked in a pitch black substance. Once reflection is completely covered, a massive emp wave of unknown power erupts from the mirror, causing a complete blackout for about 5 seconds, no matter the circumstance. Once visuals are re-established, personnel are gone, replaced with the Dark reflection observed in mirror prior. Dark entity, classified SCP-4156-1 appears extremely aggressive, possessing the ability to disappear into shadows and reappearing at will, along with the ability to inflict serious physical damage while being immune to any itself. Due to the experiments of Dr. Grant Halsy, it has been determined that SCP-4156-1 can be damaged and destroyed by intense light.
SCP-4156 was discovered by SCP personnel in in 1977 in a New Orleans antique shop, after reportedly having been removed from ancient ruins somewhere in the Middle East. Several instances of disappearances likely caused by the mirror, including the shop owner and spouse were reported in, catching the ever watching eye of the organization, however, no prior instances of similar disappearances where the mirror was present in the middle east are recorded, so it is theorized that it may have slowly been reactivated through human exposure, and has become more powerful as it successfully causes more people to vanish. The anomaly of SCP-4156-1 was first documented in containment after causing what is believed to be the 30th victim to disappear. It is not known if the ability to manifest itself first appeared outside or inside containment, or even was present since the mirror's reactivation, but evidence suggests it likely appeared later on similar to the SCP-4156 anomaly. Contact with SCP-4156 has in some instances cause diarrhea and kidney failure. Cause unknown.
Should someone come in contact with SCP-4156, come within 20ft or less of mirror and then walk away, SCP-4156 will appear wherever they look (20ft or less) once eye contact is broke, and static can still be heard, often driving subjects to the point of madness and even suicide. Once again through the efforts of Dr. Grant Halsy, it was discovered that the actual mirror itself cannot move on it's own but can project itself, both as a physical object or as a manifestation in the minds of those who come to close. All attempts to damage SCP-4156 have been unsuccessful. SCP-4156 has been observed emerging out of any dull surface, but cannot appear above highly reflective ones. D-class test subject Allen Malcolm was successfully brought back from the "other side" due to DR. Grant Halsy's latest test. Test Subject reportedly heard voices, some of others he knew that went into the mirror prior to him, leading DR. Grant Halsy to believe that the souls of those that go missing are trapped inside the mirror and may even act as a power source. Research ongoing.
Note: Not to be mistaken with SCP-3528-2 "Black Mirror"
Note: Interview with test subject and Dr. Grant Halsy will be recorded soon. Awaiting test subject to recover.
