SCP-3xxx

Object Class: Euclid

Containment: SCP-3xxx is to stored at Site 81 in a guarded, air-tight security vault, insulated from all forms of electrical discharge due to the risk of unintended activation. Access is to be on the discretion of the Site Director, and all samples must be logged and accounted for following any testing or examination.

Description: SCP-3xxx is an aluminium flight case, with plastic reinforced edges and corners, measuring 460mm by 350mm by 160mm, with a black plastic handle and no discernible manufacturer's markings. Inside are three layers of dark grey protective foam block - a sheet fitted and glued into the lid of the case, approximately 40mm thick; a similar layer at the bottom, and a thicker, removeable section between, with sections cut out through its full thickness to accommodate three objects measuring 70mm by 70mm 260mm, and ten recesses, each 10mm deep, cut to contain objects no larger than 20mm by 20mm by 10mm.

Two of the larger recesses contain cylindrical volumes of a curious, vaguely metallic clay-like substance, vacuum-packed and sealed in three layers of tough, static-proof clear plastic film (SCP-3xxx-A, SCP-3xxx-B). Seven of the ten smaller compartments each contain a single white plastic disk, diameter 18mm, 8mm thick, with a 4mm by 4mm by 4mm cavity at the centre (SCP-3xxx-C-1 to 3xxx-C-7); each contains a 3mm by 3mm by 3mm sample of the clay-like material. An eighth disk (SCP-3xxx-C-8) was originally recovered, but the material was discoloured, being black and oily in appearance, and this sample was destroyed as advised in the accompanying documentation (SCP-3xxx-D).

Several sheets of a paper-like plastic material, sealed together along one long edge, are included in this package, each page printed on one side only with details of the case's contents and how to handle them. These instructions are written in English, with grammatical and spelling errors suggesting a crude attempt to translate to English from an unknown foreign language - the contents of this document are reproduced in Document SCP-3xxx-D/Content (appended to this report).

Discovery: SCP-3xxx was recovered from a left-luggage locker at the bus station in ████ ██ ███████, ████████████, USA on 23rd October 2013, following a report made to field operatives by a confidential informant, identified only as "The Spectator"1

Testing: Three of the sample disks - SCP-3xxx-C-1, SCP-3xxx-C-4 and SCP-3xxx-C-6 - have subsequently been removed from SCP-3xxx and subjected to testing. See attached Testing Reports:-

The samples in question were completely consumed by the experimental process, and this information has been logged with Disposal Oversight.

Further Investigation: No further tests are scheduled. Based on the results received, any attempt to make use of the larger volumes of VAX would transform a spherical volume with a diameter of approximately 70m, and the result cannot be predicted.

In Conclusion: The documentation enclosed indicates that this case originally contained three large volumes of this potentially highly dangerous material. To this date, no trace of a third "deployable" volume of VAX has been discovered.

Attempts to make further contact with "The Spectator", with a view to investigating this matter further, have been unsuccessful.
