Image taken of SCP-XXXX before being put into containment.
Item #: XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored at Site-██ in a 2.90 m x 3.05 m containment room, with walls comprised of reinforced “precast” concrete. The ceiling of the room is covered with stainless steel grates that are lined with eighteen (18) built-in UV light strips that MUST be kept on 24/7, only exception being when testing requires lights to be turned off. The entrance of SCP-XXXX’s containment room is to be fitted with a water tight, reinforced steel door with a height of 2.1 m and a width of 0.9 m. Two security officers are to be posted at the entrance of SCP-XXXX’s containment room whenever testing is not scheduled during daytime hours, while two security officers are to be posted at the entrance AT ALL TIMES during nighttime hours.
The object itself is to be kept within a 3.9 x 3.9 x 3.9 inch shatterproof acrylic case locked in a 0.3 m x 0.3 m x 0.3 m reinforced steel cage situated on top of a 0.4m concrete pedestal located in the center of the room. Due to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effect, no personnel (including high-class personnel) are to take SCP-XXXX out of containment for any reason unless for use in testing.
Only researchers and containment engineers/technicians, with at least Level 2 clearance or higher, are allowed within SCP-XXXX’s containment whenever testing is not scheduled. Researchers are allowed to enter the containment room at any time (except during testing hours)) in order to conduct any hands-off research necessary, while any available containment engineers/technicians are required to do daily checkups within the room SCP-XXXX is contained to look for and fix any damage to walls, especially if any damage is seen on the cage that the object is situated in. UV lights are also to be thoroughly checked for any individual lights starting to lose power. An extra UV lamp MUST be placed over SCP-XXXX at all times while light strips are being replaced.
Note: Yes, if only one light goes out, then ALL lights need to be immediately replaced in order to prevent any more SCP-XXXX-1 instances from breaching containment again. Do not risk safety of site personnel for laziness. If you want to be reminded why all lights need to be replaced, then just look back at what happened a couple of months ago.
When testing, a team, with at least Level 2 clearance, including four (4) researchers, five (5) security officers, and a minimum of one (1) D-Class personnel are required to enter SCP-XXXX’s containment. Researchers are to be armed with specially constructed flashlights that use UV light fixtures, while security officers are to be armed with high impact pistol weaponry loaded with only copper alloyed bullets in the case of SCP-XXXX-1 instances manifesting and becoming hostile. The reason why only copper can terminate SCP-XXXX-1 instances is currently unknown and is still being looked into.
Description: SCP-XXXX is simply a rock-like object that is roughly 76.2 mm in length and 50.8 mm in width, while having a thickness of around 12.7 mm. Three (3) prominent holes, which vary in sizes, are found within the center of SCP-XXXX, theories can vary for why they are there, the main theory being from erosion. Any form of testing regarding the material in which SCP-XXXX is made of is currently not possible due to the item’s major anomalous effect, which is ONLY prevented with exposure of SCP-XXXX to UV light.
The anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX activates when the item is not exposed to UV light. Once the object loses exposure to UV light, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will manifest within a 1.5 m radius of SCP-XXXX, while the number of instances manifesting is completely random. SCP-XXXX-1 are vaguely humanoid entities that stand at a uniform height of 2.1 m and have a maximum body width of 1.4 m from shoulder to shoulder. The arms of the entity are constantly in motion (except when attacking, the arms will straighten out and stretch while “sharpening” to the point of being able to penetrate/slash human flesh) to where an average length can not be stated. Guesses are that SCP-XXXX-1’s arms have an average length of around 1.8 m. The entire body of the entity is completely comprised of an unknown substance that resembles that of sea water, except with a crimson hue and can “harden” at where the hands would normally be located on the entity. No facial features are present on the entity, as well as no visible hands or feet, instead having what seem to be stubs in their place. SCP-XXXX-1 are extremely hostile towards any humans within sight and are severely unpredictable in their actions; hence, any instances are to be terminated on sight and without prejudice, unless in use for testing.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX peeked some interest of the foundation after learning of police reports, dating back to March ██, ████, regarding “mysterious, brutal murders” in ████████ Beach, located at ███████, ████████. It was not until a few weeks later when the foundation decided to go investigate and retrieve the anomaly in question after learning of reports about “blood-red water monsters coming out of the shoreline and attacking people at night”. A containment team was sent out and successfully shut down access to the beach; afterwards, a cover story was fed to the public regarding “pollution being found in the area that posed health risks to any beach goers”. Originally thinking the beach itself was SCP-XXXX, on site personnel had to face manifestations of SCP-XXXX-1 repeatedly, until the manifestations themselves where traced back to one single spot in the shoreline where the object was officially located and retrieved after losing [REDACTED] personnel to SCP-XXXX-1 instances.
