Special Containment Procedures:
SPC-XXXX is to be kept in a 15m by 15m by 10m enclosure appropriate for an entity of amphibious nature, containing ample flowing and still water sources with a depth not exceeding 1.5 meters. The terrestrial aspects of containment are to be composed of clay dirt and large stones, with an enclosure akin to that of a one room apartment. The containment is to be kept at room temperature (23 degrees C) to keep SCP-XXXX in an environment allowing it to behave as it would naturally. Due to it's nature, its natural behavior is currently under investigation.

SCP-XXXX is currently held in Site-17.

The entrance to SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is to be guarded by two (2) armed guards to prevent unauthorized access to SCP-XXXX. Access to SCP-XXXX is be limited to Level 2 personnel, however Level 1 personnel can be allowed access, given one Level 3 or higher personnel's approval.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a hive-mind consisting of over 200 amphibious creatures at the time of containment. The amphibious creatures resemble axolotls, but their true nature is currently a matter of investigation. It was discovered in the town of [REDACTED] on ██/██/200█ where it was being pursued by local law enforcement. This led it to to be voluntarily contained when Containment team 039 was dispatched to apprehend SCP-XXXX. See Initial Contact for details. SCP-XXXX is approximately 2.05 meters in height and was wearing a long gray trench coat and matching hat upon first contact. How it acquired these is unknown, but it has shown that it doesn't like being seem without them on, putting the clothing on in a timely manner when Foundation personnel enter its cell. The skin of SCP-XXXX is smooth, but faint outlines and areas of discoloration show where each SCP-XXXX-B instance is located on SCP-XXXX-A. It's face is smooth, but seems to be able to smell, see and speak from most instances of SCP-XXX-B, allowing for 360 degree vision. It has proven to be both sentient and sapient and, through various interviews, has expressed desires to learn, experiment, and repay the foundation for "rescuing" it from the local law enforcement. SCP-XXXX is capable of vocalizations and speaking English, however seems to still be learning the language. In addition, it's vocalizations are quiet, and appears to have a slight echo, possibly due to many SCP-XXXX-B instances speaking at once to make itself heard.

SCP-XXXX is categorized into SCP-XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX-B, and SCP-XXXX-C.

+ SCP-XXXX-A

SCP-XXXX-A refers to the humanoid form of SCP-XXXX, where at least 155 SCP-XXXX-B subjects are necessary.

+ SCP-XXXX-B

SCP-XXXX-B refers to the individual amphibians that are under the hive mind influence, and SPC-XXXX-B instances have been shown to play with each other and to mate via the female instance laying eggs, and the male fertilizing them in the water.

+ SCP-XXXX-C

SCP-XXXX-C refers to the eggs laid by female SCP-XXXX-B instances. SCP-XXXX-C instances hatch within 4-7 weeks of fertilization, and grow into adult SPC-XXXX-B instances in approximately one (1) month.

██/04/200█, 2243 ███: The first potential sighting of SCP-XXXX was reported by two unnamed teenagers, walking around near the town of [Redacted]. The sighting was described as a "short, pink slenderman."

██/11/200█, 1125 ███: Second potential report of SCP-XXXX filed by an elderly librarian at the [Redacted] public library. Similar report to that on ██/04/200█.

██/19/200█, 0924 ███: Containment Team 039 was sent out to gather information on the anomaly and to administer Class B amnestics to any who have potentially seen or heard of the anomalous entity.

██/19/200█, 1344 ███: Scanning of police radio showed the anomalous entity was heading towards [REDACTED] and was ██ km ahead of law enforcement moving at 20 km/h. The containment team intercepted SCP-XXXX around ██ km outside of [REDACTED]. This is a transcript of the first encounter with SCP-XXXX:

039-A: "Alright boys. The anomaly is heading straight for us, ETA 3 minutes."

039-D: "Yes sir!"

039-C: "Sir, I can see the target, should I engage at a distance?"

[The loading of a bolt action sniper rifle is heard]

039-A: "Hold Charlie, SCP-XXXX is fleeing, and is not presumed dangerous. We will wait here, and take it in, firing non-lethal shots if necessary. The anomaly is presumed sentient and the researchers back home want to know what this thing is and how it works."

039-F: "SCP-XXXX approaching Alpha, ETA 20 seconds!"

039-A: "Remember, non-lethal action only! The Doc. wants to know what this thing is."

[SCP-XXXX slows down until it is standing 5 meters from Containment Team 039]

039-F: "Sir, it looks just like the report said."

[SCP-XXXX moves closer to Containment Team 039]

039-A: "Weapons up!"

[The sound of automatic rifles being readied is heard]

SCP-XXXX: "Are you here… to help me?"

039-B: "Sir! SPC-XXXX is vocal!"

039-A: "I can see that Beta."

SPC-XXXX: "SCP-XXXX? Is that my call sound?"

039-A: "SCP-XXXX, I need to to come with-"

[039-A is interupted as SCP-XXXX looks behind itself, the sounds and light of police sirens approaching.]

SCP-XXXX: "Please help me! They're not good humans! They dislike me for freeing others!"

039-D: "Sir, what should we do? This seems… too easy."

[A sigh is heard, presumably form 039-A]

039-A: "Yes SCP-XXXX, we will help you. Now as I was saying, come with us quietly and-"

SCP-XXXX: "Oh yes, thank you! You are good humans. Let us please go."

<Begin Log, Time: 1135 ███>

Dr. ██████: "Hello, SCP-XXXX, I am Dr. ██████, how are you today?"

SCP-XXXX: "Hello Dr. ██████, I am very good, your kindness is very welcome."

Dr. ██████: "Yes, well…" Dr. ██████ inhales, pauses for a second, then continues, "I want you to tell me as much as you can about yourself. This is for the record, so please, be specific."

SCP-XXX: "Well, let's see." SCP-XXXX thinks to itself for several seconds, then continues, "I enjoy listening to all types of rock and metal music, reading sci-fi and fantasy novels-"

[SCP-XXXX is cut off by Dr. ██████]

Dr. ██████: "No. That's… not what I meant. I meant any information on your origins, why you were being perused by law enforcement, and your intentions."

[SCP-XXXX looks confused for a second, then saddened, but begins]

SCP-XXXX: "Oh. Well, I don't know where I originated or why I am here, but I am curious. But I can tell you, I was half as many as I am now when I first started thinking."

Dr. ██████: "Would you say that that was your moment of consciousness?"

SCP-XXXX: "Yes, I guess I would."

Dr. ██████: "Could you tell me when this was?"

SCP-XXXX: "No I cannot, for I do not know how many days it has been."

Dr. ██████: : " Can you tell me why the police were after you?"

SCP-XXXX: "I attempted to rescue other, smaller me's from confinement. Their confinement was much smaller than yours is for me. So I tried to free them."

Dr. ██████: "So you took other axolotls from the pet stores and released them into the wild, and the police chased you?"

SCP-XXXX: "Yes, the blue-dressed people. They chased me until you saved me."

Dr. ██████: "I don't think you understand. We acquired you because of the reports of a 'walking group of salamanders' not because you were being persued."

[SCP-XXXX pauses more a few seconds before responding]

SCP-XXX: "Whether that was your intention or not, that was the outcome, so for that I am thankful."

Dr. ██████: "Ok… What are your current intentions? What will you want to do now that you are in Foundation custody?"

SCP-XXXX: "I wish to learn. Your organization has many interesting labels on the walls, and I wish to know what they mean and what they are. You call me SCP-XXXX, so the other labels must be others similar to me."

Dr. ██████: "Well, most anomalies don't express such interests, and very few are permitted to know extensive information on other SCPs, but please go on."

SCP-XXXX: "I also wish to learn of myself, why I am different, and what I really am."

Dr. ██████: "That is also our goal, for all anomalies. During your containment, expect to be tested. This is how we will answer those questions."

SCP-XXXX: "Thank you! Your help in answering my questions is very much appreciated."

Dr. ██████: "No I-" [Dr. ██████ pauses, sighs and continues] "You're welcome."

SCP-XXX: "One more thing I wish to be, is to be considered human. Most humans run away, but not you, you came to me, and talked to me. For everything you have done for me, I thank you."

Dr. ██████: *sigh* "Ok, two guards will now escort you back to your containment area. We will continue talks at a later date."

SCP-XXXX: "Thank you Dr. ██████ for everything. I will do my best to not cause any trouble for you after your kindness."

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX seemed to be under the impression we were going to be working with it. While this is unlikely, its cooperation for interviews and tests will be appreciated. It seems to be very human-like, at times I felt I was having an ordinary conversation instead of an offical interview.

Test XXXX-1 - ██/20/200█, 0846 ███
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: The taking of blood, skin and tissue samples, as well as a scan of the brain and skeletal system of SCP-XXXX are to take place.
Results:
Blood Sample: The blood of SCP-XXXX exhibits no anomalous properties that we can detect, except that SCP-XXXX is warm blooded, unlike most amphibious creatures.
Skin Sample: The skin of SCP-XXXX contains an unknown organic compound in it that, when contacted with other skin tissues of SCP-XXXX results in an instantaneous merging as if they had never been apart.
Muscle Tissue Sample: The muscular tissue contains the same organic compound as the skin tissue of SCP-XXXX, because of this, more tissue samples are needed.
Nerve Tissue Sample: The anomalous organic compound, hereafter referred to as [REDACTED] is absent from the nerve tissue of SCP-XXXX. More testing is required to understand this substance and will commence at a later date to be determined.
Brain Scan: The initial brain scan results gave us six (6) different brains, each slightly askew and seems to be connected to individual nervous systems, explaining the absence of [REDACTED] from the nerve tissue. SCP-XXXX may be comprised of multiple organisms, but the skeletal structure will illuminate the truth on that subject.
Skeletal Structure: Just as suspected, there are over two hundred (200) separate skeletal systems on SCP-XXXX, indicating some form of hive mind, or organism fusion. Each skeleton appears to be non-anomalous and resemble that of an amphibian, such as a salamander or newt.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX appears to be composed of hundreds of small amphibious creatures, whose muscular systems and skin fuses together to allow SCP-XXXX to move in a humanoid manner and to have a relatively human-like appearance. The distinct separation of the nervous systems implies some other form of mental control, potentially through telepathy or similar methods, but those suspicions are unconfirmed.
