Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 7 x 7 m chamber fortified with 8 cm steel walls. The containment chamber should be fitted with gas-powered lights in order to keep SCP-XXXX dormant. Personnel is to stay 2 meters or further from the object when SCP-XXXX has not been fed for more than 10 hours. No source of electrical light should be used in SCP-XXXX's containment chamber at any time. SCP-XXXX is to be given one D-Class individual for its specific non-consumptive sustenance purposes every 10 hours to prevent it from breaching containment. Two Security Personnel of level 3 or higher is to be monitoring SCP-4968's containment chamber at a time. SCP-XXXX is not be approached by any foundation personnel using any source of electrical light even when in dormant states. Any and all foundation personnel are to refrain from coming into contact with SCP-XXXX. If SCP-XXXX attempts to approach research or security personnel they are to create as much distance as possible from SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a SWAT officer of unknown age or descent. SCP-XXXX has no discernible features present. SCP-XXXX is non-corporeal in appearance but has been shown to interact with various physical items. SCP-XXXX does not speak or attempt to communicate in any form. A badge was recovered from SCP-XXXX after containment. The information containing its date of birth, hometown, or any information on possible relatives could not be found in local databases. The only information regarding the owner of the badge was as SWAT Officer █. ██████, a 26-year-old man that went missing almost 20 years prior to SCP-XXXX’s discovery. It is still unknown if the name on the badge was SCP-XXXX's prior to becoming anomalous, or if it had taken it from one of its victims. SCP-XXXX is hostile at all times but enters a dormant state when in range of combustible light sources (candles, torches, matches, gas-powered lights, etc). SCP-XXXX is safe to approach when dormant but personnel is to refrain from alerting SCP-XXXX of their presence. SCP-XXXX becomes difficult to contain during this time and attempting to use sources of combustible light to calm it or the use of bioluminescent lights to disorient it will make SCP-XXXX even more hostile. If personnel are to fail to feed SCP-XXXX, it will breach containment and attack all personnel it comes into contact with whilst progressively becoming less hostile. SCP-XXXX can be contained after 10 minutes of attacking personnel when it has calmed down to a stable enough state. Lanterns or candles then may be used to keep SCP-XXXX dormant as security personnel restrains and contain the anomaly.
SCP-XXXX becomes hostile when in areas of light levels below 20 lux or less in 10 square meter or larger areas. SCP-XXXX is difficult to locate when in complete darkness, therefore security and research personnel are to use lanterns while around or in its containment chamber.
Two D-Class personnel are to refill SCP-XXXX's lanterns inside the containment chamber every 6-7 hours to keep SCP-XXXX in its dormant state. SCP-XXXX is not to be approached even when in dormant states. If personnel are to come into 1 meter of SCP-XXXX, it will become hostile and attack. Even when SCP-XXXX is fed, it still attacks those who attempt to speak to it or try to make physical contact with the object. Only D Class personnel are to be allowed into SCP-XXXX's containment chamber for refilling lanterns or removing bodies of the deceased from its cell.
SCP-XXXX becomes hostile when approached with electrical light, SCP-XXXX will then approach the subject before reaching out to the subject. The arms and head are severed from the body shortly after this action. Tests done on why SCP-XXXX becomes hostile when exposed to electrical light have shown that SCP-XXXX seems to be in a large amount of physical pain when exposed by electrical light, therefore attacks the user who had exposed it. Studies show that SCP-XXXX must be 1 meter or closer to the subject before reaching out to them in order to execute them. Three fatal lacerations measuring approximately 10-15 cm appear at the subject’s shoulder and neck effectively removing the arms and head of the subject. SCP-XXXX becomes dormant when in contact or range of combustible sources of light. During this time, a source of combustible light should be constantly present when SCP-XXXX is restrained and returned to its containment chamber. Personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX are to use gas-powered lanterns when assigned to SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX has no reaction to D-Class personnel when exposed to bioluminescent lighting. Even when bioluminescent lighting is given to D-Class personnel in complete darkness SCP-XXXX does not approach or seem to notice that the subject is near and instead attempts to create as much distance from the subject as possible. When exposed alone to bioluminescent light, SCP-XXXX becomes disoriented and retreats as far away from the source as possible. When SCP-XXXX is exposed to bioluminescent light, it does not seem to know the subject is there, and only focuses on creating distance between it and the source of bioluminescent light.
Tests were done with animals and SCP-XXXX produce the same results of those of the D-Class personnel. SCP-XXXX is hostile towards any living creature that exposes it to electrical light or is found in complete darkness by SCP-XXXX. (See Addendum XXXX-B)
When SCP-XXXX comes into contact with a subject, it proceeds to feed on the victim. During this time, SCP-4968 must feed on 3 or more subjects before combustible lights will calm SCP-XXXX once again. At this time security personnel may restrain it safely and return it to its containment chamber. Autopsy's show that any victim of SCP-XXXX has suffered no internal damage as the quarteises of the wounds are sealed during the initial attack. The reason that SCP-XXXX is satisfied by feeding is still unclear, as it seems to only want to kill whoever has come into contact with it with electrical light or when not fed for longer than 10 hours.
SCP-XXXX was brought in after reports of unusual disappearances started to increase in ██████, AK. SCP-XXXX was found near a river 5 miles away from a campsite stationed 15 miles away from ██████. The campsite contained █ deceased unknown individuals who were later identified as █ of the missing individuals.
Addendum: XXXX-B D-Class personnel were told to approach SCP-4968 in almost complete darkness. D-8318 had been 1 meter from SCP-XXXX before it quickly turned its attention to D-8318. It promptly reached out to D-8318 before the arms and head of the subject were severed. D-6304 started to panic and attempted to shield himself from SCP-XXXX. SCP-4968 turned its attention to D-6304 and approached D-6304. 12 seconds later, D-6304 had his arms and head severed by SCP-XXXX after it reached for D-6304. SCP-XXXX does not attempt to make physical contact with the subject, rather it reaches for the subject then stops abruptly before the head and arms of the subject are severed.
Another two D-Class personnel were then sent into SCP-XXXX's containment chamber with flashlights turned on and were told to locate SCP-XXXX. The two D-Class were able to locate SCP-XXXX before SCP-4968 became hostile and proceeded to approach both D-Class personnel. It used the same method of killing its victims as it had done with D-8318 and D-6304 before seating itself against the wall facing away from surveillance cameras. Lanterns were promptly lit again before the corpses of both D-Class were removed from the containment chamber.
One sheep and one goat were placed into SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber in almost complete darkness. SCP-XXXX quickly turned hostile and removed the head and limbs of both the sheep and goat in its containment. The same test was performed, but the two animals had flashlights attached to them, currently being powered. When both animals were sent into SCP-XXXX's containment chamber, it quickly became hostile and rushed towards the animals before stopping 0.5 meters away from the animals and reaching for them. Both animals had their heads and limbs severed by SCP-XXXX before it retreated to the furthest wall and sat facing away from surveillance cameras. Lanterns were promptly re-lit and the corpses of the animals were removed.
