Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked box at site 12. The box it to be nailed to the ground. At least one guard who does not know the nature of SCP-XXXX is to keep constant video surveillance on the item. Anyone who learns about the nature of SCP-XXXX is to be issued class-B amnestics, if these are ineffective, subject is to be terminated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a non-anomalous [redacted] and an associated infohazard, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 respectively. SCP-XXXX-2 manifests when a subject has knowledge about the nature of both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. See addendum for information on the origin of SCP-XXXX. Class-B amnestics have been shown to be effective in counteracting the effects of SCP-XXXX if subject was affected less than 24 hours before amnestics are administered.
The effects of SCP-XXXX manifest in one of two ways in subjects. Subjects affected by the first manifestation, hereby referred to as 'spreaders', feel anxiety when talking to a subject who does not know of the nature of SCP-XXXX. Spreaders will only feel relieved when bringing up SCP-XXXX.
Subjects affected by the second manifestation of SCP-XXXX are here by referred to as 'Keepers'. Keepers feel acute anxiety when separated from SCP-XXXX-1. Keepers will spend all their leisure time attempting to collect SCP-XXXX-1 and "keep" it. Keepers will attempt to spend as much time with the object once they have acquired it, preferring skin contact, however simply looking at the object relieves the stress of keepers. Keepers do not behave irrationally outside of this. Keepers have been known to go as far as assault to acquire SCP-XXXX-1. Keepers have also been known to mimic spreaders. See Interview Log One.

Addendum: Whether a subject becomes a seeker or keeper seems to be determined by random chance. The current number of seekers and keepers is estimated to be between 20 and 50, with between 2 and 8 of these estimated to be members of the SCP foundation.
SCP-XXXX was initially discovered in a small apartment in █████ ████, USA. The apartment was severely overcrowded, which brought it to police attention. It was brought to the attention of the foundation after the spreader effect manifested in foundation agent ██████ ████████, who was embedded in the police force. The foundation agent then proceeded to type a report like this one and email it to several foundation staff. SCP-XXXX-1 was located and contained shortly after.
