Item #: SCP-3266
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3266 is to be kept in an isolated cell, with a required 55 feet away from all others. Humans are not allowed to be any closer then 49 feet to the SCP-3266. Space markers are required. Humans are permitted to guard the SCP-3266 only outside of this radius.
When experimentation is taking place, hiding places such as crevices in walls or drawers must be provided for SCP-3266-1 unless specified otherwise. These can range is size and shape, only restricted by containment of any and all objects placed inside. If another SCP is recovered this way, it must quickly be contained an SCP-3266-1 immediately evaluated.
The containment room is to be void of all light, and security cameras are to be set to 'night'. Walls are to be iron and scratch-proof. Any experiments are allowed to be lit, but only dimly. Any human contact, besides research experimentation, is to be mandatorily covered with a thick hazmat suit to prevent direct contact. All personnel in the room who hear 'scratching' are to immediately be vacated and psychically evaluated.
Description: SCP-3266 is 1.57 in diameter translucent glass eye with symbols of an unknown language carved into its surface. The symbols, when written on other objects, seems to have no effect. Any photographs and video of this object result in what appears to be a disembodied human eye, with no attachment of viscera of any kind. The eye itself seems to be between blue an silver, with a thin ring of dark blue around the pupil. Flickers of candle light can be seen on camera in the vicinity of SCP-3266, but nowhere else. This effect can be seen without Subject contact.
When in physical contact by a human (no other species seems to be effected) over a long period of time, the glass eye creates hallucinations and paranoia. Subjects will claim they see shadows moving on their own accord. Towards the beginning of their contact, Subject describes shadows as the shadows of dogs. They will exhibit addictive behavior, and will become hostile to anyone who attempts to take SCP-3266 away from their direct contact. When alone, Subject will begin talking to the shadows, but refuse to talk to anyone else.
Objects of varied origin will begin to appear in the vicinity with no known pattern after ██ hours of contact, with a variance of 9 minutes. Subject will exhibit personal history and attachment to the objects, and begin an attempt to horde or hide the objects in "safe and secret" locations. Paranoia levels will greatly increase when no place to keep or hide such objects is provided.
After ███ hours, or █ days, of SCP-3266 in contact with Subject, objects of similar relationship will begin appearing to people of value to the Subject, and, at rare occasions, people in the max vicinity of 47 feet. The effect seems unaffected with walls or barriers. Subject will be able to socialize with people who have had this experienced this, even if the event had not been mentioned, but still refuses to speak in hearing distance of another who had not experienced the anomaly, this includes recording audio and security footage.
Scratches on nearby walls while in confinement have been analyzed and revealed to be four individual Doberman hounds. Their correlation to SCP-3266 is unknown.
SCP-3266 was recovered in he town of ███████, New Mexico, after repeated disappearances of the local █████ family members, including 52 year old single mother ████ and their great uncle, great-grandfather, going back generations, all in the 2 foot plot of forest. Exact copies of the photograph shown above can be evidence in recent years, the latest in 20██. The relationship between these disappearances and the ability of SCP-3266 is unknown, as is the relationship between the local legend of SCP-3266 and the family. SCP-3266 origins and ability is still under investigation.
