Containment Procedures:
A single sound proofed room with no doors and a single two-way mirror for observation. Observation in this way seems to provide no negative results. The anomaly, to be referred to as the device from here on, was placed into custody by a staff member who was made to wear a blindfold and wear earplugs and was guided by a railing into the room for the original containment. The second containment was simply building a doorless room around the device by workers who were forbidden to look upon the device and who wore sound cancelling headphones. The reasons for this will be recounted below.
Description:
The so called "time bomb" was officially discovered by the SCP foundation in █ █ █ █. The exact origin of this device is unknown as the anecdotal evidence have this device supposedly existing all they back in ancient Greek and Atlantis times. In fact, some anecdotes claim this time device was responsible for both creation and eventual destruction of Atlantis itself. Despite years of observation and research, no evidence can be found proving or disproving this tale.
The device itself is simple in it's appearance. Looking like nothing more than an analog flip timer on a small metallic sphere, the entire device takes up no more than six square inches. It's anomalous nature, however, takes up a much larger area.
To anyone in ear shot range, this device emits a ticking sound, not unlike a metronome, but more melodious. Hypnotic. Those who have heard the sound and survived the eventual effects of seeing the device, or who never saw the device at all, report it as a song that sounds familiar but one that they seem to have forgotten, once it's out of range. This supposed song drives those that hear it into an almost trance like state that gets stronger the longer they hear it. Once they see the device, however, the song ends and they see the time on the clock.
The time on the clock is different every time someone sees it, and cases have been reported that multiple beings seeing the clock simultaneously see different times. However, these reports are again anecdotal and have yet to be proven. What has been proven is that when some one sees the time, the countdown begins for them, and once the timer reaches zero zero zero zero(analog flip timer), no matter where they are, something time related affects them.
Each person has a different effect and there seems to be no █ █ █ █ █ █.
Since being contained, no living being has been allowed to see the device except from behind the mirror, away from it's effects both auditory and visual. The timer stays at a constant zero zero zero one, and doesn't change. A one time power outage caused a door malfunction and the door to the original holding cell opened and the song resumed. Everyone guarding and observing the Scp were almost instantly entranced and several even looked upon the device
and verbally stated the time which they saw. The few that were recorded on film are as follows;
Security guard █ █ █ █: zero one fifteen
Security guard █ █ █ █: twelve twenty
Security guard █ █ █ █: zero zero zero five
Scientific Observer █ █ █ █: twenty one thirty
all others who stated their time were not in view of the camera. It should be noted that while it is a timer and it does seem to follow the twenty-four hour time format, not all the time are the effects in hours. Upon the return of power, those effected were quarantined and studied and the study found that some were indeed measured in hours, as the first security guard lived another one hour and fifteen minutes, before he aged rapidly until he decayed and even his dust decayed into nothingness.
Some however were measured in years, as the last security guard went unaffected for five years before waking up, exactly five years later, and found that he had somehow become twenty years younger and was now a young teenager.
From there, each other affected staff was measured in proper hours and minutes and were effected in much stranger ways. our scientific observer found herself in a time loop, beginning when she started working at the SCP facilities, and ending just before the power outage, where she'd be whisked back again to that time, with all her memories intact. Allegedly, she was contained in one of her loops, but upon reaching that day again, she simply vanished.
The final security guards effects were temporary but far stronger. Upon reaching his zero, he found he had the ability to stop other people's time, albeit only for █ █ █ █ █ █ minutes total. A victim in their time-stopped state could not react to any stimuli and when they returned to time, they had no memory of the stoppage and continued exactly where they left off. This ability disappeared █ █ █ after it's appearance, but the security guard remains in voluntary quarantine.
All 'evidence' from this point on is anecdotal and cannot be proven or disproven, as such they are only recorded in case of future evidence proving or disproving them.
1916: The device is seen by archduke Franz Ferdinand who stated the numbers were zero zero zero two. It is worth noting that exactly two years after the supposed run in, Ferdinand was shot and killed.
1812: The device is seen on a battlefield by an unnamed soldier. Allegedly upon reaching zero his body exploding, killing thousands.
1910: Howard Phillips Lovecraft begins draft on what would later be called the 'Cthulu mythos' after allegedly seeing the device as a child and upon it reaching zero, Lovecraft allegedly saw numerous visions of past and future events, alien beings and gods.
2580 BCE: Construction on the pyramid at Giza begins, allegedly as a means to contain the device, and it was built around it.
Despite the numerous anecdotal evidence of the device's existence, the device has no real history and does not appear to be affected by time in anyway. While containment was relatively simplistic, according to eye witnesses, the device sometimes disappears upon reaching it's zero zero zero zero deadline. Despite this, the device has never left SCP foundation custody since it's containment.
Addendum:
As there is no known way to study the device without succumbing to it's effects, all tests are banned and only light observation from behind the two way mirror are permitted. One camera is to be viewing the device at all times with D level personnel observing on a daily basis. Occasional scientists may observe the device but only under supervision of no less than 3 security personnel.
