Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 5x5x3 meter room, with concrete reinforced steel walls. No humans or human controlled entities are allowed within the chamber except for testing purposes, and all access to the chamber is to be closely monitored at all times.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a dark green ████ brand racquetball approximately 5.7 centimeters in diameter. SCP-XXXX was recovered by the foundation in ██████, Colorado after field agents ████████ and █████ intercepted a 911 call reporting anomalous behavior caused by SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is observed to bounce without loss of energy due to air resistance, noise, or any other potential losses of kinetic/potential energy. This ball is observed to bounce to a height from the observed range of 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the air. These fluctuations in height often occur after a period of 8 hours of consistent height. SCP-XXXX moves horizontally in accordance to its chamber, always remaining in the center of the chamber regardless of where or how the chamber is moved.
Human presence (Regardless of direct human contact or remotely controlled interaction [ie. drones, rovers, or camera equipment]) within a 4 meter radius around the ball causes it to begin to bounce harder than the acceleration of gravity would normally allow, with accelerations ranging from 20 to 80 m/s/s, always maintaining its previous height. These accelerations also vary on a random basis. As the source of human interference gets closer to SCP-XXXX, the acceleration nearly doubles every meter walked until a perimeter of 1 meter from SCP-XXXX is reached. At this point, the ball will slow to nearly half the acceleration of gravity in as little as 0.002 seconds. Upon contact with the ball, the human interference is then taken within the SCP's sphere of influence and is bounced at the same height and acceleration as the ball at its fastest, and massive damage due to continuous impact is inflicted. These items are referred to as instances of SCP-XXXX-1.
In order to recover instances of SCP-XXXX-1, a completely independent AI rover will be dispatched to retrieve remains of human interaction. All instances brought outside the 4 meter radius lose their anomalous properties, and will be studied extensively.
Test Log
Test 1 - 01/28/██
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: Class D personnel instructed to slowly approach the subject, but not touch SCP-XXXX. Use of high speed cameras to accurately measure movement of the SCP. Remote camera equipment placed within 4 meter radius in order to more closely observe behavior.
Results: [As previously described]
Analysis: "SCP-XXXX's behavior seems to have predictable based on measurements before human interference. What we didn't expect to see, however, was the subject's reaction to the camera. It was only after the camera equipment was removed from the 4 meter radius that the subject resumed normal behavior. This matched behavior shown in the field report and recovery documents, and I guess we'll just have to verify that everything from the report wasn't a one-off occurrence and is actually predictable. I'm just glad to have a potential Safe classification on my hands"Test 2 - 02/02/██
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: Class D personnel instructed to touch SCP-XXXX
Results: Class D personnel moved in accordance to bouncing of the subject. Class D personnel killed and was repeatedly crushed by acceleration matching that of SCP-XXXX.
Analysis: "We expected to see this, as it was described in the field report, but we didn't expect it to be so violent. We'll have to send in the AI cleaners to do this one. I don't want our personnel walking through pools of blood every god damned test we do. I think we'll hold off on human testing for a while."Test 3 - 02/04/██
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: Remotely controlled rover moved to touch SCP-XXXX
Results: Rover was completely destroyed. Rover moved in accordance with SCP-XXXX in the same way human subjects did.
Analysis: "Thank you, scientific method. I think we can call this one. We're sanctioned for one more test before we can lock this one away. The field team was careful not to d>Test 4 - 02/05/██
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Procedure: AI controlled rover to insert wedge underneath SCP-XXXX
Results: As shown by video footage from Site-██, SCP-XXXX, directly after being redirected, began to fly around erratically, and then began making its way through walls and essential components of the facility, created multiple containment breaches among many Euclid and Keter class SCPs. After approximately 12 minutes of this erratic behavior, SCP-XXXX returned to its chamber and began bouncing in the exact same way as it had before. All items it came into contact with began bouncing up and down in SCP-XXXX's gravitational field, regardless of human involvement. The area of influence spread at a rate of 5 meters per minute, and any sentient beings in this radius were also taken into this sphere of influence. Due to steady changes in gravitation, only █ initial deaths were reported due to the synchronized movement of the surroundings and the Site Personnel. However, after 30 minutes of this activity, all items were dropped from SCP-XXXX's sphere of influence. 100% of Site-██ and 22 kilometers of forest were affected by SCP-XXXX. Massive damage to all sub-levels, infrastructure, and containment chambers rendered Site-██ almost completely destroyed. Multiple Euclid and Keter class containment breaches occurred, and the final death tally is approximately ██████ SCP Personnel. NTF was deployed to recapture and recontain multiple SCPs, and as many as possible were moved to secondary Foundation Sites.
Analysis: N/A
Addendum-1:
Security Measures Revisions
Due to multiple sitewide breaches in containment, SCP-XXXX has been given a Euclid class description, and more heavy security measures have been put in place. The containment chamber for SCP-XXXX must have a completely level surface for the object to bounce on, made of graphene. The potential for damage over time is too much of a threat for the Foundation to gloss over, hence its new Euclid designation. Any and all testing on SCP-XXXX is to stop immediately and until further notice. Any and all chamber damage is to be reported immediately. Any and all attempts to redirect SCP-XXXX will be met with immediate termination. Any and all attempts to destroy SCP-XXXX will be met with immediate termination.
Addendum-2:
05 Council notice to all remaining authorized Site-██ personnel
Because of the events that transpired at Site-██ regarding SCP-XXXX, the 05 Council has decided to relocate SCP-XXXX to a remote facility where it cannot cause any more damage to SCP Foundation Sites. The use of AI drones and rovers will be used to relocate SCP-XXXX to within the Arctic Circle. This site will be monitored 24 hours a day, with no tolerance for human interference within a 10 meter radius.
