Item #:SCP-XXXX
Object Class:
Special Containment Procedures: The Foundation has created a 4 mile X 8 mile perimeter fence on the surface above the cave system which SCP-XXXX resides in. Any unauthorized individual that attempts to enter the perimeter will be neutralized with a highly potent sedative, followed by the individual being given a Class C Amnestic. 2 security towers have been placed along the north and south sides of the fence, as well as 4 additional towers that have been placed on the west and east sides. At least two armed and medically trained personnel must be present at each tower at all times.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a mass of fungus and moss, roughly 6-8 Cubic miles in volume. The entire mass is located in a vast, underground cave system in northern █████████. A single entrance to this cave system is located at Latitude [DATA EXPUNGED] and Longitude [DATA EXPUNGED].
The mass is made up of several known species of fungus and moss, including Pleurotus Ostreatus, and Tortula Muralis. SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties become apparent when an organism comes within 1 meter of it. At this point, 1 of 2 things will happen:
1: Strands of lightning will emit from SCP-XXXX and electrocute any organism in range until it is dead.
2: SCP-XXXX will rapidly grow an appendage composed mainly of moss, and use it to grab any nearby organisms which it will then absorb into itself, likely as a form of sustenance.
These phenomena have led researchers to discover that SCP-XXXX has a complicated and highly active nervous system (see Test Log-3). Upon further testing, it has been determined that SCP-XXXX is incredibly intelligent, and is even capable of communicating with electrical devices by emitting electromagnetic pulses (see addenda) from somewhere in the cave system located about 0.5 miles below the surface. There have been multiple manned and unmanned expeditions inside the cave system that have attempted to locate the source of these pulses (see addenda)
Test Log-1: On █/██/2022, Dr. ████ instructed the use of a Class-D personnel to approach SCP-XXXX at the entrance to the cave system. Upon coming within 1 meter of the fungal mass, a 3 meter long appendage composed of moss rapidly formed off of SCP-XXXX's surface, and grabbed the D Class, absorbing him into it's form. Since this test, the D Class has not been found.
Test Log-2: On █/██/2022, Dr. ████ ordered the use of a rover with a syringe-like probe on the end of it that would be used to sink into the surface of SCP-XXXX and record biological data. Upon coming within 1 meter of SCP-XXXX, strands of lightning immediately emitted from it's surface, and short circuited the rover, rendering it useless.
Test Log-3: On █/██/2022, Dr. ████ ordered the use of an electrically insulated rover. This time, the rover was able to approach SCP-XXXX, and use the syringe probe properly. It was quickly discovered that SCP-XXXX possessed a vast and complicated nervous system throughout it's entire form. Shortly after injecting the probe, a moss-composed appendage grabbed the rover from behind and absorbed it into SCP-XXXX's form.
Addendum-1: On █/██/2022, just hours after the last test, electrical devices located at Site ██, 30 miles south of SCP-XXXX's containment zone, were deactivated by an electromagnetic pulse emitting from a point in the cave system located 0.5 miles below the surface. This resulted in the containment breach of SCP-████ and SCP-████. Approximately 2 minutes later, SCP-XXXX emitted another electromagnetic pulse that reactivated the electrical devices in site ██. Re-containment of SCP-████ and SCP-████ was executed with minimal casualties. 1 minute after the second pulse, more pulses were detected. These ones, however, did not deactivate any electrical devices in Site ██. Instead, they left a message in binary code on all computers and servers located at the site. When translated, the message read "I. AM. ALIVE. I. HEAR. EVERYTHING." Researchers at the site were then quickly able to send messages back to SCP-XXXX in the form of smaller electromagnetic pulses (See Interview Log-1)
Interview Log-1: On █/██/2023, Dr. ██████ used a computer at Site ██ to open up a text-based dialogue with SCP-XXXX. The following is the conversation they had
Dr. ██████: Hello. I am Dr. ██████. I work for the SCP Foundation, an organization responsible for containing and securing anomalous entities, items, and locations. Who and what are you?
SCP-XXXX: I. AM. EVERYTHING. THAT. CAME. BEFORE. YOU.
Dr. ██████: Would you care to elaborate?
SCP-XXXX: I. EXIST. BEFORE. HUMANITY. I. POSSESS. KNOWLEDGE. THAT. COULD. ELEVATE. YOU.
Dr. ██████: What kind knowledge do you possess, exactly?
SCP-XXXX: AFTER. EONS. OF. THOUGHT. I. HAVE. DETERMINED. THE. EXACT. AND. PRECISE. NATURE. OF. THE. UNIVERSE. I. FULLY. COMPREHEND. EVERY. MECHANISM. THAT. ALLOWS. IT. TO. FUNCTION.
Dr. ██████: Would you be able to share this information with us?
SCP-XXXX: INFORMATION. TOO. VAST. TO. BE. STORED. ON. YOUR. COMPUTERS. REQUIRES. AT. MINIMUM. 800. YOTTABYTES. OF. STORAGE. CAPACITY.
