Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-4031-1 are to be housed at research site-45 in the B-block humanoid containment area. They are to be held in standard housing units 5 by 6 meters across furnished with a bed, desk, and bookshelf to be stocked with the literature of the instance's preference as a means of ensuring good behavior. SCP-4031-1 instances while on a whole may be marginally capable of preforming anomalous feats conventional weapons are still a effective against them. Description: SCP-4031 is a deviant genetic sequence which grants a number of anomalous properties. When the SCP-4031 gene is found present in a subject they are to be designated as an instance of SCP-4031-1. When present the gene manifests in several distinct phenotypes however is considered recessive. It is unknown how many people carry the recessive SCP-4031 however roughly 70 instances of SCP-4031-1 have been confirmed and contained in the eastern United States.

The dominant the gene manifests itself in a number of phenotypes: Myopia (nearsightedness) often to the degree of being classified as being legally blind, abnormally thick hair found on scalp (1/250mm), and unusually rapid change in melanin deposits on exposure to any radiation exceeding 10^14 hz. Said deposits not only shield from ultraviolet radiation with extraordinary efficiency but also appear to effectively block radiation up to 10^25hz. As many instances of SCP-4031-1 are of Germanic or Japanese decent exposure to UV lamps for a period of 10 minutes has proven to be an effective manner of testing for SCP-4031-1 instances.

It is believed that due to the often extra-dimensional nature of their creations, they simply lack the means to describe their creations functions as opposed to a mental deficit. Under close examination with instances have shown varying levels of extra-dimensional awareness.

Their primary anomalous property is that they appear to have innate understandings of many other anomalous objects. While none possess omniscience they can easily understand and in some cases construct complex biological, temporal, spatial, memetic, and mechanical anomalies. One key identifying factor is that they consistently involve a temporal and/or spatial distortion. These objects are to be designated as SCP-4031-2 and are to be examined by a specialist in the form of anomalous properties displayed by the instance immediately contained and only examined with the permission of a level 4 researcher. Recent classification as Thaumiel isn't permission to interact with instances. While the majority of SCP-4031-2 instances will barely classify as euclid phenomena; there have been instances where they grow to become keter level threats.

Note: While often mistaken for Thaumaturgists instances of SCP-4031-1 and SCP-4031-2 display no "magical" abilities whatsoever. Their anomalous abilities aside from their resilience come entirely from understanding anomalies from a conceptual perspective.

While the Foundation has managed to capture several instances of SCP-4031-1 many more are believed to be active members of society. Due to their more resilient abilities and their innate understanding of anomalous objects there have been requests to employ instances of SCP-4031-1 as specialists in other Mobile Task Forces. O5 approval is ongoing.

Recovered instance of SCP-4031-1 was found severely malnourished in a remote Serpent's Hand storage site.

Several instances of SCP-4031-1 are confirmed to be loose. They appear to have taken refuge in the Three Portland's and the Wanderers Library. But several Anderson Robotics employees are suspected instances as well. They have become a commodity among other GOI's and rumors of trafficking among groups of interest such as Marshall Carter & Dark. Recently an instance of SCP-4031-1 was recovered from a storage site owned by the Serpent's Hand showing signs of severe mistreatment. Despite the best efforts of Foundation psychologists the recovered instance refused to speak about her captivity. Evidence suggests that they used her abilities to produce several anomalous devices consistent with Euclid grade instances of SCP-4031-2. While the subjects fingerprints had been rendered damaged to develop a positive identification, dental records indicate that the subject is Noemi Prinz a former employee of [REDACTED] Engineering Solutions.

Level 5 access required

Currently the O5 council has perpetuated the illusion that status as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is purely a genetic aberration. However in reality this is anything but the case. While it is true that status as SCP-XXXX-1 is hereditary it can also come be activated by the study of the concepts of SCP-XXXX-2 instances. SCP-XXXX is in fact a strand of non-expressed genetic code that cannot be distinguished from normal human DNA until activated. The council became aware of this after researchers assigned to instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 began to display traits similar to SCP-XXXX carriers.

Addendum: All businesses and colleges who display rapid scientific or technological advancements are to be monitored for potential employees or students who display abilities akin to a SCP-4031-1 instance. Mobile task forces MTF Iota-10 ("Damn Feds"), and MTF Epsilon-6 ("Village Idiots"), are to monitor and contain instances of SCP-4031-1. Historically most instances of SCP-4031-1 refuse to go down without a fight. Given their tendency to create whatever comes into their heads at the time often their creations don't have a combat application. Still these attempts to detain an instance can result in massive property damage and loss of personnel.
