Special Containment Procedures: The approximation of SCP-5173 is to be kept in a standard D-class personnel holding cell, with access to another cell that has been converted into [REDACTED] when not in use, the door between these two rooms must be sealed with 7 inches of bulletproof resin. Created anomalies must be taken from this secondary space and [REDACTED] disposed of once a week, with no exceptions. Every two weeks, a D-class test subject is to be placed within SCP-5173’s cell. Retrieval will not be necessary.
Any photo of SCP-5173’s face must be completely blacked out physically or digitally. Level 4 security access is required to study SCP-5173, although it is currently under the watch of Dr. [REDACTED], and seems to respond well to her methods; further watch is permitted. Requests have been made to the overseer of Site-[REDACTED] to move SCP-5173 to another location but no response has been received.
Description: SCP-5173 is about [REDACTED] years old and is described by D-class personnel as relatively docile with a low, soothing voice. Thought to be a memetic phenomenon, SCP-5173 causes static to appear on heat sensors, radar, and spectrographs. He cannot be seen via camera or any video equipment. The only type of machine that SCP-5173 appears on are brain scanners, although more active than a normal human male’s, ranging from two to [REDACTED] times more active. Dr. [REDACTED] theorizes that this has a direct correlation to SCP-5173’s effects.
When in contact with a D-class test subject, SCP-5173 reportedly reveals itself to the subject and proceeds to [REDACTED] and extracts their memories; this procedure leaves the subject terminally braindead. SCP-5173 will take these memories and use them to create photographs. These photos of the test subject’s memory often appear distorted or damaged, ranging from burn marks, scratches, [REDACTED], glitches, etc. It seems that SCP-5173 has some control over how images are seen as witnessed by Dr. [REDACTED], having been witness to several images before looking at SCP-5173 and reporting that the distortions were present after the fact.
SCP-5173 is known to break out of containment at random in search of civilians if the provided D-class personnel is not what it deems sufficient. It also has the ability to leak its face and work out on different forums to lure people to him. No pattern has yet been established as to when this occurs or whom SCP-5173 goes after.
