Item #: SCP-5083
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Any attempts to locate or otherwise neutralize instances of SCP-5083 and SCP-5083-1 have thus far proven unsuccessful. Due to the anomalous and otherwise semi-random1 nature of SCP-5083 recordings (hereafter known as SCP-5083-3 through 5083-27), attempts must be made to locate and recover any known recording of SCP-5083 after any known instances are discovered.
Recordings of SCP-5083 are to be kept in a media storage vault on Site-XX. Any level 3 or higher personnel are allowed access to the recordings.
Description: SCP-5083 is what appears to be a series random murders perpetrated in fitting rooms of large clothing corporations located in shopping malls across the continental United States. The murders include a random individual, between the ages of 17 and 352, known hereafter as SCP-5083-2. The series of recordings (SCP-5083-3 through 27) and occasionally active and real-time security camera footage of fitting rooms in Aeropostale, Nordstrom, and [REDACTED] business located in shopping malls with a minimum area of XX hectares.3
SCP-5083-1 is an unknown human male4, of an unknown age, approxamately 6'4", roughly 240lbs, dressed in all black, with black gloves, a black ski-mask, and dark sunglasses.
In each recording, after a couple of seconds, the lights in the fitting room are suddenly turned off, with instances of SCP-5083-2 usually entering a panicked and agitated state. Recording is then made in infrared, even if the recording equipment is incapable of recording infrared video. Audio is not present, even in security systems where audio is normally recorded.
After roughly ten seconds into each recording, SCP-5083-1 comes within visual range of the camera recording the event, enters the fitting room stall violently, usually by tearing down or bashing down the stall door, and proceeds to violently murder instances of SCP-5083-2. He does this using what appears to be a large USMC Mark-2 KA-BAR knife with a serrated edge.5
In each recording, SCP-5083-1 takes a lock of hair form instances of SCP-5083-2. SCP-5083-1 then leaves the fitting room stall. The lights are then restored a couple of seconds later, with all audio and visual recording continuing normally after.
SCP-5083-1 is not seen on any other security camera footage located within the same building, and as of SCP-5083-27, no staff or customers reported seeing any individual fitting the description of SCP-5083-1.
The first instance of SCP-5083 (SCP-5083-3), was reported on 02/16/20XX in an Aeropostale fitting room located in the Brea Mall in Brea, CA. local authorities were called to investigate the incident as a murder, with customers and employees reporting hearing no sounds of struggle or seeing anyone fleeing the scene.
The Foundation was made aware of SCP-5083 when reports of an unknown series of murders being reported across the western United States made the evening news in several large metropolitan areas across the pacific seaboard. Being first reported as the "Fitting Room Slayer", reports indicated that an unknown serial killer was targeting business known to cater to young adults. the Foundation contacted local authorities in standard procedure when serial killers are first reported.
After obtaining all known recordings of SCP-50836, and corroborating any evidence and witness statements, the designation of SCP-5083 was given due to the mysterious nature in which SCP-5083-1 is able to infiltrate said businesses unseen, kill a victim, and leave unseen.
Amnestics were given to all known witnesses and local authorities related to known instances of SCP-5083. Falsified reports were then disseminated throughout the U.S. and the "Fitting Room Slayer" wa reported caught.
The Foundation then scoured the U.S. in an attempt to located further instances of SCP-5083, finding a total of twelve different murders across the country matching the same description of the known recordings.7
The Foundation then led a clandestine nationwide manhunt, using all known means in an attempt to locate and neutralize SCP-5073-1 with no success. Four more instances of SCP-5083 are discovered.
Instances of SCP-5083-2 are usually found very quickly by staff or other customers, as on-site security has on most occasions8 contacted authorities during or immediately after the incident has happened.
Due to the location of SCP-5083 being unknown9 prior to instances being found, any future reports of SCP-5083 recordings are to be confiscated by Foundation personnel, amnesitcs given to any witnesses and scene cleaned up before news of the incident are reported to nearby news outlets.
SCP-5083-19 discovered on 07/XX/201X. After murdering an instance of SCP-5083-2, SCP-5083-1 holds up a small handwritten note with "Don't try to stop me." written in blood. Since then four additional instances of SCP-5083 have been found.10
Well it seems SCP-5083-1 somehow knows we are actively looking for him.
