Item #: SCP XXXX (to be finalized in final draft)
Object Class: Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is to be contained in a non-biological SCP containment tank, measuring 7 m3, and constructed from reinforced titanium, measuring 7 cm in thickness. The walls lining the inside of the containment tank should be lined with lead, at a thickness of 3 cm. The object should be suspended in a 30 liter measure of solid gallium, kept under a temperature of 0°C by way of a non-reactive coolant when in containment. No less than three (3) redundant cooling units should be online when subject is in containment, each equipped with a dynamo-core backup generator. Temperature sensors should line the room, keeping track of the tank's temperature at all times. When being taken out of containment, the tank may be warmed to about 30°c, releasing the subject from its gallium suspension. An observation deck should be placed 4m above the bottom of the tank, to give researchers and D-class personnel a place to interact with the subject.
The door of XXXX's tank should be harmonically sealed, and protected by a memetic amnesic counter-measure, to induce unconsciousness and retroactive memory loss in unauthorized personnel. No less than four guards are to guard the subject at any one time, and clearance for experimentation may only be granted by a level 4 researcher or higher. Said guards will be given a pass-code, changed once every twenty four (24) hours, which a prospective experimenter must say to be allowed to proceed with gaining access to XXXX. Those with level 4 clearance must scan their omni-card, and undergo a retinal scan, to open the tank for experimentation.
No one, without permission from a level 4 researcher, is allowed to directly touch XXXX, as doing so risks exposure to a severe tactile and memetic cognitohazards. For this reason, all personnel not directly involved in an experiment with the subject are instructed to wear a lead-lined radiation suit when in XXXX's containment tank. Furthermore, all D-class personnel who interact with the subject must be placed under retroactive amnetics, to ensure information regarding XXXX remains classified.
Description: SCP XXXX is a 1.5m X .87m x .87m octahedron, made from an unidentified, crystalline substance, similar to champagne colored diamond. It emits a bright, amber light, at around 3200lm. The subject is surrounded by an electromagnetic field, which emits as far as 1m from it's physical structure, allowing it to stably float, either in-place or at a rate of upwards to 20m/ s. It's been seen to float at a max height of approximately 5,500m, though it's assumed capable of ascending beyond Earth's atmosphere. It isn't known how XXXX is powered, though it appears to emit light from a spherical core with a circumference of approximately .5m.
XXXX has the capacity to modulate the mass of the photons it emits from it's core, making them either unusually massive or, more intriguingly, giving them anti-mass. When one touches the subject with their bare skin, it appears to make a neural link with a person's brain, giving them the ability to create solid constructs from these exotic photons. They generally form into geometric shapes that exist in higher spatial dimensions, such as tesseracts. The nature of these photons gives the resulting constructs the property of being able to fold spacetime into said shapes, creating localized, spatial-temporal disturbances that tests have shown cannot be entered or exited from by any means within current human capacity. These exotic photons can also be used to shoot laser beams (upwards of 1000mW), create localized gravity waves, and even generate temporary black holes, which can last upwards of 3.5 seconds. Experiments have shown, however, that the method used by the subject to create a neural link with those it's in contact with has a 90% chance of overloading most human brains, generally inducing grand mal seizures, brain hemorrhaging, permanent brain and nerve damage, and/ or death. At the very least, D-class personnel who have sustained minimal damage complain of numbness in the arm and hand used to touch XXXX, and generally develop some form of schizophrenia or synesthesia three (3) days later. All personnel who've interacted with the subject report being shown a vision of what they believed to be a detailed layout of the geometry of space and time, though none have been able to succinctly describe the experience. They also claimed to have the sense that the subject was [data redacted], perhaps implying it has some rudimentary sentience. Further tests must be done to confirm or deny these claims.
A select few personnel (from here on designated as XXXX-1), are able to utilize the subject without sustaining lasting damage. No method of determining the best candidates for becoming XXXX-1 has so far been found. Furthermore, those we have found capable of safely linking with the subject seem to vary in their ability to properly utilize it's anomalous traits. Continued practice linking with XXXX, however, has been found to universally increase their potential to use it.
XXXX was recovered on June [data redacted], 19[data redacted], in the area of [data redacted], New Mexico, by task force [data redacted]. Foundation radio telescopes from Site [data redacted] were able to pick up on the subject's unique energy signature as it came in close proximity to Earth. Locals reported seeing a shooting star that seemed to move through the sky intelligently, as if it were seeking a place to land. Retrograde amnetics were used on locals who stumbled upon the site, and were given false memories. A misinformation campaign was launched the following few weeks after XXXX was moved to Site [data redacted], attributing the incident to anything from an experimental weather balloon to a meteorite.
Further information on SCP XXXX is classified to all but the current Overseer Council and above. All those found accessing these files without Overseer clearance or above, or without the direct permission of a member of the current Overseer Council, will be terminated on site.
