WARNING: This file is currently under urgent review by the 05 Council. No changes are to be made to this document without authorisation. Precautionary Measures are liable to be updated in the near future. Staff will be notified when the new version of this document is available.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently uncontained. Containment of SCP-XXXX is a Class A priority, as mandated by the O5 Council. Existing Foundation technology has been unsuccessful in differentiating SCP-XXXX from existing personnel. Research is ongoing into methods of screening personnel for SCP-XXXX's presence.
Plans are in development to lure SCP-XXXX into staged experiments, featuring fictional SCPs. Participating MTF operatives and agents will pose as D-Class personnel, with the objective of capturing or communicating with the entity directly.
Current Precautionary Measures (SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING COUNCIL REVIEW):
Any personnel who suspect the presence of SCP-XXXX are to notify their superiors immediately. Senior staff will advise a course of action appropriate to the circumstance. In the absence of senior staff, personnel should treat suspected SCP-XXXX instances with extreme caution. Staff are however encouraged to communicate with SCP-XXXX if safe to do so.
All personnel with Security Clearance Level 2 or higher are to be informed of the existence of SCP-XXXX in order to maximise the odds of detecting the entity.
D-Class personnel are to report any unusual behaviour in other D-Class subjects - in particular behaviour consistent with prior encounters involving SCP-XXXX. New incentives are in place to increase co-operation levels of D-Class subjects regarding this matter.
If SCP-XXXX's presence is suspected during a test or expedition in progress, Command staff are authorised to alter mission/experiment parameters at their discretion. If the current task is non-critical, capture of SCP-XXXX becomes the new primary objective. Direct communication with the entity is a secondary objective.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an entity that is able to intrude into the physical body and consciousness of humans by unknown means, and exert control over them independent from the original owner. SCP-XXXX can regulate its hold over a host, ranging from full motor control, to passively inhabiting the body. To date, the only confirmed human hosts for SCP-XXXX have been Foundation D-Class personnel.
According to observational data and first-hand accounts, SCP-XXXX seeks to expose itself to extreme states of physiological and psychological trauma. SCP-XXXX claims to experience its hosts' emotional and physical state directly. For example, if the host is hurt, SCP-XXXX feels their discomfort.
The entity derives great pleasure from incurring mental anguish, pain, and death. When an SCP-XXXX host dies, the entity will eventually re-appear in a new host, retaining a full memory of prior experiences. It is theorized that SCP-XXXX may also frequent other locations or organizations, selecting hosts which have high probablities. This may account for the longer absences of the entity from the Foundation.
To date, SCP-XXXX has infiltrated over 236 Foundation experiments, expeditions and incidents worldwide The majority of cases have involved exposure of SCP-XXXX to other SCPs, either as an experiment subject or in an exploratory capacity as D-Class personnel. Each case invariably results in death the host. Autopsies of the few successfully retrieved host corpses display no abnormalities indicating the presence of SCP-XXXX. 12 SCP-XXXX host corpses have been preserved at Site 11 for further testing.
Hosts infected by SCP-XXXX typically act consistently to their personality, although it has been confirmed that SCP-XXXX can heavily influence their actions. This makes detection of SCP-XXXX extremely difficult. SCP-XXXX's existence was first discovered following a number of cases where the entity unusually "broke character". These events also gave some insight into SCP-XXXX's motivations and history (see Addenda below).
Investigations into the history of SCP-XXXX's Foundation incursions and the scope of its motives are ongoing.
Update ██/██/20██: O5 Council has approved the use of a select number of other SCP's for potential detection and containment of SCP-XXXX. Such experiments will be tightly regulated, please see Document ApprovedCrossTestSCPXXXX.doc and contact the current Project Lead for details.
Addenda:
██/██/20██ The latest interview has been de-classified and forwarded to us - Another D-Class who had contact with an SCP-XXXX host. We did learn something this time: apparently, it likes SCP's so much -quote- "because they can kill in you new and interesting ways".
██/██/20██ We still don't know whether SCP-XXX becomes another form, transfers consciousness, or even exists when its host dies. Does it experience whatever the human does after the moment of death? It would be fascinating to find out. Then again, based on what I know about some of the nastier SCPs out there, I'm not sure I really want to know…
██/██/20██ Researcher Hulme speculates that SCP-XXXX may also be able to manifest as a human being even without a host. The evidence is circumstantial at best, but I've told her to trawl the archives just in case.
██/██/20██ I'm concerned that SCP-XXXX's activities may reach beyond just "going along for the ride" as a D-Class. Wouldn't an entity like this have a vested interest in sabotaging or manipulating missions in order to place itself in greater danger? We don't know enough about SCP-XXXX's true motivations. What is it really up to?

A Selection of Recent Communications Extracts Regarding SCP-XXXX (Foundation-Wide)
Collated by Communications Operator Sarah O'Neill. Full transcripts, names and location data available on request.
"It told me it pitied me. Not that I was going to die, but that I'd only get to experience death once. I laughed at that, and it laughed too. But it didn't stop laughing, until we got the call to go in twenty minutes later. I thought it was going have a fit." D-32181
"Given the latest facts, I think it could have escaped containment at any time. I think imprisonment to it is a game." - Doctor Novak
"The subject displays a fascination with unique forms of torture.. horror.. pain.. death.. you get the idea. In my opinion that's why its activities are so focused around our organisation." - Researcher Deglasse
"Can you 100% guarantee me that this thing can't impersonate, or possess, any damned one of us? Of course you can't!" - Site Director Reynolds -
Operator Note: Following this outburst Reynolds has been temporarily relieved of duty and is currently in Site 3's psychiatric ward undergoing screening for memetic contamination.
"That other D-Class? Karen, I think her name was. She said something like… "the Foundation's a farm." Yeah, that was it: "A farm for death, a farm for fear, a farm for terror". Later on she sang those lines in this cheerful tune, over and over again. Drove me nuts, but she wouldn't shut up. She told me she doesn't need to go hunting any more, at least not as much as she used to. She said the Foundation provides." D-1772
"Contact our sleepers at the Insurgency. I'd like to know if they've been 'visited' too." - Site Director Takahashi
"I think SCP-XXXX's predilection to take D-Class hosts is an obsession. It told one subject that D-Class were "cattle sent to slaughter". They get the most deadly and terrifying assignments. That's all it wants, I think, to experience those raw emotions, the horrific deaths, all from the rotten perspective of an expendable human lab rat. I doubt it has motivations beyond that." Doctor Cho
"I heard things have gotten real bad for D-Class sent to Site 14, poor bastards. It's like a witch hunt over there, the management's paranoid as fuck. Noone there gave a shit about the D-Class in the first place, and now it's even worse…" Agent Sears
"I'm telling you, it was bloody smiling, smiling! We were all scared shitless. Most of us were hurt bad, bleeding. I was screaming by then… it was too. It's legs were in shreds. But I'd swear, if I didn't know better, it was actually enjoying itself." D-19248
"Yeah, I've heard that rumour too. Do you really think the Council made a deal with that thing?" MTF Officer Jordan
"Well, Doctor Cho's changed his tune lately. Recent evidence has shown SCP-XXXX is affected by other distressed humans in its proximity. Cho's concerned that it may have deliberately sabotaged expeditions in the past, either to maximise its chances of experiencing some fucked-up death, or cause as much suffering as possible to those around it. Tricky for a D-Class, sure, but they're not convinced any more about its claim that D-Class have been its only hosts in this organisation Doctor Garcia
"And what if it decides the Foundation isn't meeting its needs? There's any number of GOIs it could infiltrate instead, what then? If this turns out to be true, it could potentially know any, if not all, our dirty secrets. All the shit we swept under the rug, Ethics Committee be damned." 05-08
"I propose we should negotiate with SCP-XXXX. Offer it incentives to remain in Foundation "custody"; keep it in the D-Class system, off the record of course. At least then it would be partially contained. Less chance of sensitive information leaking to other GOI's, our own staff, the world at large. Its become far too chatty for my liking." 05-01
Note from O5-11 Here is the comms file you requested. As you can see, things are getting out of hand. I've corrupted the Addenda files that you requested in the document.
