Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are contained within a 25m³ cage in Site-74, each one distinguished by an identifying tag. Residents of Akron, Ohio, with priority on the neighbors of Andrew Noskama, are being inspected under suspicion of having knowledge of SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for a set of 10 folding chairs with no manufacturer labeling, individually designated SCP-XXXX-1 to SCP-XXXX-10. SCP-XXXX are capable of independent movement at their hinges, sight, and hearing despite having no physiological difference to a nonanomalous folding chair. SCP-XXXX instances will become panicked after spending periods longer than 10 minutes separated from the others. When SCP-XXXX are near one another and are not traveling they will form a circle facing inward. SCP-XXXX will become frightened when in a line of sight of any narcotic substance and will avoid contact with the substance, though it has no harmful effect on them. SCP-XXXX will also become frightened at the sight of violence.

When an individual sits on an instance of SCP-XXXX, they will experience a pleasant emotional response which is often expressed as "relaxation" and "warmth." When a group of subjects sits on SCP-XXXX, (one subject per instance) one subject may be selected by SCP-XXXX. The process of this selection is unknown. Each other subject will be more easily convinced by the selected individual as long as both the selected subject and unselected subject remain seated.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was spotted by tourists in Akron, Ohio, USA. They reported seeing "living chairs" moving between a car and a residential property. The tourists were administered Class A amnestics and were returned to their hotel room. The car and residential property were both identified as belonging to 62-year-old Andrew Noskama.

A raid of the residence of Andrew Noskama was conducted on 05/01/2018. SCP-XXXX was found in the raid and were contained after being chased from the residence to a nearby park (all witnesses successfully amnesticized.) Andrew Noskama was arrested in the raid and was interviewed on 05/08/2018.

Foreword: The following interview was conducted with the intention of learning more about the origin of SCP-XXXX and it's relationship with Andrew Noskama

Dr. Fylaki: Good Afternoon, Mr. Noskama. I am here to ask you some questions about SCP-XXXX and your involvement with them.

Andrew Noskama: What are you going to do with them?

Dr. Fylaki: Please refrain from asking questions. What is your relationship with the anomaly?

Andrew Noskama: What the hell are you going to do with them?

Dr. Fylaki: Mr. Noskama, I’ll provide you an answer if you answer my questions. Can we make that agreement?

Andrew Noskama: Yeah, alright.

Dr. Fylaki: Alright, wonderful. I’ll repeat, what is the nature of your relationship with the anomaly?

Andrew Noskama: They live in my house, where they have shelter and can avoid being seen.

Dr. Fylaki: I see. Speaking of your house, the anomaly was discovered when they were seen moving between your vehicle and your property. Why were you taking them out of the house?

Andrew Noskama: We visit people, to help them.

Dr. Fylaki: What kind of people need your help?

Andrew Noskama: We help people who drink too much, mostly. If I spot someone who keeps coming into the shop for more booze, we’ll follow them back to their home to help.

Dr. Fylaki: And how do you help them?

Andrew Noskama: The chairs… you know what happens when you sit in them?

Dr. Fylaki: To some extent. Please enlighten us, Mr. Noskama.

Andrew Noskama: They can… they make it easier to convince people. They can choose one of the people sitting in one of them and that person can convince the others with ease. They trust me to use them to help people, so they let me help people.

Dr. Fylaki: I see. I assume you convince the people you help to stop consuming narcotics?

Andrew Noskama: Yeah.

Dr. Fylaki: Can you remember any names of those you’ve helped?

Andrew Noskama thinks for a moment

Andrew Noskama: My poor Mary. I can only recall my Mary.

Dr. Fylaki: Your wife?

Andrew Noskama: Yes my wife, rest her soul. She was one of the first me and the chairs helped. She drank a lot, you see. I visited her with the chairs and helped her. Usually, I tell them those I help to forget me and the chairs. I didn’t ask her to forget though, I don’t know why. I was so scared that she’d tell someone about me and the chairs but she didn’t. She found me, working at the store, and we just… fell in love.

Dr. Fylaki: Our information on her says she committed suicide after experiencing several miscarriages. My condolences for such misfortune. Did you intend to pass the chairs onto your child if one survived?

Andrew Noskama: I don’t feel comfortable talking about that.

Dr. Fylaki: Please, Mr. Noskama, answer the question.

Andrew Noskama sighs

Andrew Noskama My dad had taken care of them since before I was born. He told me he had inherited them from his father and I would inherit them from him. He said that we had to take caring of them since the 20s and would continue through the generations.

Dr. Fylaki: I see, a legacy of sorts.

Andrew Noskama: Yeah, you could call it that. Mary didn’t really want the baby but I managed to talk her into trying to have one. I never realized that she couldn’t bear children, or the toll it would take on her when she realized that.

Dr. Fylaki: If we did not contain the anomaly, how would you pass on the-

Andrew Noskama: I have no idea.

Dr. Fylaki sighs

Dr. Fylaki: Very well, Mr. Noskama, thank you for your answers. They have been very informative. This concludes the interview.

Andrew Noskama: Wait! What are you going to do with them?

Dr. Fylaki: We are going to keep them contained, as the Foundation is meant to do.

Andrew Noskama: Contained? For how long?

Dr. Fylaki Indefinitely, Mr. Noskama.

Andrew Noskama lunges at Dr. Fylaki and begins shouting

Andrew Noskama: You can't! Release them! Let them go!

Dr. Fylaki quickly leaves the interview room

Andrew Noskama: Free my fucking friends! Don't you dare leave them alone!

Addendum XXXX-A: The Ethics Committee is currently discussing the suggestion of Dr. Fylaki to utilize SCP-XXXX in interrogation settings.

Addendum XXXX-B: On 05/22/2018, a bouquet of flowers and note were found on the doorstep of Andrew Noskama, believed to be placed there the previous night. The note said, "To our friends and saviors, wherever they may be." The handwriting is currently being compared to that of neighbors.
