The Foundation is poor.
- Amnestics are expensive.
The following things are not lonely middle-aged men who live in apartment complexes:
- A college student
- A small child (<12 years old)
- A parent
- A person who actually has a job
- A homeless person
- A woman
- A celebrity
- A person who's already in a relationship
A nonanomalous object that is "trapped" in an SCP designation due to a quirk in the Foundation's rules.
Possible Objects:
- A dead battery
- A tape dispenser
- A disposable cup
Reasons for SCP status:
- A sudden rule change resulting in the SCP file being unable to be changed effectively. Ex. "File can only be edited by someone with level 2.5 clearance" despite 2.5 no longer being a valid clearance level.
- An important person dying in a way that the Foundation's rules did not consider or account for.
- "The Beanbag Schedule"
http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-13953218/unforgettable
My crippling fear of being remembered in a bad way.
Possible Embodiments:
- An anomalous kid who tried to suppress all information of his existence.
- A student being unable to be forgotten by anyone. Worst fear coming true.
- Alternative: Everyone remembers a person's mistakes just as well as he does.
- Journal?
Possible Effects:
- Always on people's minds on some level after they have learned of him.
- A constantly "recurring memory."
- Does not affect people's other memories; the "space" in their head is not taken up.
- People think about him far more than they would have, but not in an obsessive way.
- People always remember things he did in their presence, as well as second-hand information.
Important Things To Consider:
- Amnestics - What effects do they have on his anomaly?
- They don't work at all —> Extremely hard to contain, anomaly-centric, very similar to SCP-868.
- They work partially —> Okay
- They completely counteract it —> Extremely easy to contain, character-centric, tells a story about the Foundation's bureaucracy as well as Darcy's life.
- Potential use to the Foundation - Longer memories would seem pretty useful for personnel.
- Memetic glyphs are mass-producible and easily transportable; Darcy can only do/say one thing at a time, and bringing a kid around whenever something needs remembering would be too much of a hassle.
- Maybe only true information about him gets remembered?
- How did Darcy find out something was up?
- Friends made fun of a small mistake with uncharacteristic frequency?
- How did the Foundation discover Darcy?
- An embedded foundation operative?
- The school psychologist?
Things to Clarify/Explain:
- How did the agent know Darcy was anomalous?
- He was acting on a suspicion.
- How did the Foundation figure out what his anomaly was?
- What is the story's CONFLICT?
- Darcy was losing his ability to interact socially.
- What is the story's RESOLUTION?
- Dary being contained and being too afraid to interact with anybody.
A lonely author whose dreams come true, but only until he goes to sleep again. One day he has a dream of his (dead) best friend and starts drinking a lot of caffeine to stop him from disappearing.
An object/entity that, while being completely innocuous on its own, has an article that subtly tells a story.
Possible Ways of Telling the Story:
- Automated transcripts of surveillance camera footage that have not yet been trimmed for brevity.
A game show in which people have to kill themselves in increasingly unorthodox and elaborate ways to win a prize in their afterlife.
The feeling of wishing you were asleep?
Being loved by others is nice and all but I want to love myself. And that shit is something you earn.
Getting into a good college would be a nice line to add to my personal life resume.
A list of reasons to love myself.
I worry that all my friendships are superficial, and that they will evaporate the moment I go away, because they end up forming bonds with the things I like and the things I do, but not with the person I am.
My fear of insincere or undeserved compliments.
Costumed performances featuring genuine deaths.
A story of unattainable perfection.
A fake/unknown religious story.
- GoI Format?
- Wanderers Library?
- About "the dangers of honesty"?
The way a person's interests change over time. Maybe someone stuck having to do what they were interested in as a kid for the rest of their life?
A comically unhelpful instruction manual.
- "How To Become A God In 2.78E+16 Easy Steps"
(Tale?) An "isekai" story wherein the protagonist originally shows up on the "dark side," and assumes that they are the good guys. This assumption becomes reinforced over several days of only seeing, leading the protagonist to fully believe that the bad guys are good and the good guys are bad. Over time, however, the protagonist learns more about the other side and the world they were placed into, gradually realizing they've been unknowingly fighting on the side of evil the whole time. The protagonist has to come to terms with the things they've done when they simply didn't know any better.
One day, a person finds a package at their apartment door. When they open it, they find it to be empty… or is it?
A phenomenon occurs causing people to become irreversibly anomalous in some way. The Foundation initially contains the anomalous people and amnesticizes witnesses, but the phenomenon gradually increases in intensity. Eventually, the Foundation is tasked with containing 1% of the world's population, and it's getting less and less able to sustain the containment of so many people. The question is: why is the Foundation doing this? If something is this widespread, what makes it anomalous? If something is common among so many, is it not normal? The problem is that it would be impossible to amnesticize the global population and convince them it was always normal, but Foundation personnel know that something has to be done.
"If you're reading this, you shouldn't be."
Make digital alarm clocks scary.
"Stories don't end. They just stop being told."
Giving up.
A large, sentient soap carving. Neutralized?
A house with no doors.
An extremely dangerous anomalous woman is contained within a large, spherical chamber. Suddenly, the woman appears to completely lose her memory, along with her anomalous properties. Researchers debate whether or not to let her out, or even communicate with her.
Could be told from the Foundation's perspective as an SCP article, or from the anomaly's perspective as a tale/series… or both?
A lie detector. It allows people to see a timeline of how many lies a person has told over their life.
When looking at one person's timeline, however, a spike is seen. At one point in their life, they suddenly started lying at an absurd rate. Why?
[Movie?]
A doomsday cult tries to stay relevant in the modern age.
A site located under the ocean bed.
A story being told through a person's daily to-do list. The list repeats, but things get added to it (i.e. take ADHD medication, buy dog food, etc).

Page Type: SCP Article
Genre: Emotional/Character-Based
Page Layout: Standard SCP format and addendum. The addendum will include a journal kept by the SCP before its acquisition by the Foundation.
Elevator Pitch: My article shall be about a teen-aged boy who is unable to be forgotten. When a person learns information about him, whether first- or secondhand, they can always recall it instantly with perfect accuracy, making him the easiest thing for people to remember. Because of this, people think about him more frequently as a side-effect.
Central Narrative: The boy was originally non-anomalous. He was extroverted and had many friends. He was also insecure, however, craving validation from others.
When his anomaly manifested, he noticed people recalling information about him in unusually high levels of detail. People would talk and joke about him far more than they usually did, and the boy was under constant attention. The attention quickly became suffocating, as the boy's mistakes couldn't be forgotten and his attempts to alleviate the scrutiny were unsuccessful. He grew to dread social interaction, and eventually stopped coming to school altogether.
The boy's absence caused his school's faculty to take notice, and when an undercover Foundation agent noticed his anomalously boosted popularity, he was discovered and contained.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: I personally haven't seen much relating to unforgettable anomalies, so I feel this would be somewhat new. My plan is to show how Darcy's anomaly changed his personal/social life for the worse, which I think would be interesting.
Additional Notes: This idea is based on my own social anxiety, and the irrational fear of having one's mistakes remembered by everybody. I wanted to write about a scenario where that fear came true. Please tell me if there's anything I should clarify. Also, I currently have it where the "undercover agent" is working at the boy's school, but let me know if that doesn't work.

Again, some more grounded details of how the Foundation would discover this would be important.
You said that before… What do you mean by "grounded?"
EVEN if they knew he was "anomalously popular" how would that lead them to know what his anomaly is?
They initially contained him under the assumption that he had some sort of memetic obsession effect. It was only after he was contained and tests were run on him that the Foundation actually determined his anomaly.
[How does he become popular without his effect going out of control?]
What is the conflict here? What is the resolution?
Conflict: Boy becomes worried and uncomfortable around people, worried they'll remember and mock his mistakes. He trusts people less and less. (Mention social media) I want to show through his journal entries how he becomes self-conscious of his habits, worrying about how people see him, even becoming self-conscious of his writing in his personal journal. It climaxes when he becomes too self-conscious to even let people see him, resulting in him not coming to school and leading to the Foundation discovering him.
The conflict is internal, because even though he's afraid to interact with people, he feels like he has to, because he builds his entire self-image off of other people's opinions. He tries to make them remember him positively, but as his minor mistakes and habits are inevitably noticed and remembered, it becomes practically impossible. They can't help but remember him as what he is: an anxious, insecure boy.
Resolution: When contained, the boy still faces difficulty trusting people, extremely reluctant to interact with personnel. He still expresses anxiety about his friends and the way they view him, assuming they hate and mock him without end. Contrasted when it shows that, when he left school, all the students were talking about him, not to make fun of something he did, but because they were worried about his well-being.
I've personally faced difficulty interacting with other people, mainly due to my own fear of people remembering my mistakes, and I wanted to show how this fear could develop in someone else. The boy subconsciously realises that people can't help but remember his mistakes, so he interacts less to limit the mistakes he makes. He becomes distrustful of his friends, not knowing how they'll respond to him. When he gets contained, those problems are still there. He is still afraid of people remembering him, but it's eventually shown that his fear was irrational. People still cared about him.

Page Type: SCP Article
Genre: Drama/Emotional
Page Layout: Standard SCP format and addendum. The addendum will include interviews between a Foundation researcher and the SCP, as well as transcripts of videos found on the SCP's home computer.
Elevator Pitch: The SCP is a man who generates "character" entities based on his dreams. When the man has a dream strongly featuring a "character," the character appears as the entity when he wakes up and disappears when he falls asleep.
The entities are almost always humanoid, although non-human characteristics are common. On some occasions, the entities display minor anomalous abilities.
No entity appears if:
- The dream does not feature any characters
- It features characters that have already appeared
- The man's sleep is too short for a dream to form
Essentially, when the man dreams of a character, the character appears in real life when he wakes up, disappears when he goes to sleep again, and the same character never appears twice.
Central Narrative: The SCP is an author who lived alone. He used his anomaly to help his writing by recording interviews with his characters. The interviews had become routine for him, something he did whenever a new character appeared. One day, however, he had a vivid dream about his childhood friend and woke up to find him standing next to him.
The friend had died a long time ago, but the author's dream temporarily brought him back to life as another "character". Seeing his friend again, the author was desperate to keep him for as long as possible. Knowing that he would disappear when he went to sleep again, the author started to drink a lot of coffee to stay awake.
Eventually, the friend convinced him to go to sleep and finally say goodbye. For days afterward, the author's dreams were exclusively about his friend, meaning no other entities could appear and making his loneliness all the more apparent. Gradually, he recovered, writing with more enthusiasm than before. A few months later, the Foundation found him and brought him into containment.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: I personally haven't seen many SCPs relating to dreams, but the main focus is going to be on the man's relationship and history with his friend, which I think would be interesting to explore.
Additional Notes: Let me know if there's anything I need to clarify or explain. If the story's progression feels weird, please let me know. I'm also worried that it may feel a little too melodramatic, so if you know any ways to make it seem more genuine, please tell me.
