SCP-5083 in cell
Item #: SCP-5083
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5083 is to be contained in its cell, a 3 m x 3 m x 2.2 m concrete cube, on a pedestal, to reduce accidental physical contact with its surface. Checks must be conducted every month to assess the quality of cell condition, along with SCP-5083 mass test. Standard Video surveillance is required in SCP-5083’s cell, which should be monitored for 12 hours on every other hour starting from 00.00. During surveillance hours, surveyors will report any anomalous activity observed. Security personnel will be equipped with full body suits, including gloves and visors. Pre-installed EMF sensors are used to identify electromagnetic anomalies, to ensure SCP-5083's activities inside the cell can be monitored externally.
Description: SCP-5083 is, seemingly, a stainless-steel ball approximately 176mm in diameter and 22.3725-22.3726Kg. The object almost exactly resembles a steel sphere, though can be distinguished via the true image reflection of its surface. To the human eye, the ball is completely inactive. However, when undergoing high-resolution mass experiments, an oscillation can be observed between 22,372.5g and 22,372.6g.
SCP-5083 is completely safe, on the condition that it does not come into direct physical contact with any biological organism. Once physical contact has been made with SCP-5083, the organism cannot terminate this contact, on the consequence of instantaneous expiration (hence the name Cherish Sphere). Due to this trait, the density of living microorganisms within the cell is exceedingly low. Human contact with the sphere also results death. The cause of death is cell necrosis brought on by total body autolysis. The genesis of this cell death is unknown.
During experiments with SCP-5083 on class-D subjects, a low pitch hum and whistle can be auditorily observed whilst physical contact is being made with the SCP-5083. Over the course of several hours the noise increases in amplitude. The noise cannot be heard by someone who is not in contact with SCP-5083. On withdrawal of contact with SCP-5083, class-D subjects [DATA REDACTED]. The longest duration of time a class-D subject has remained in contact with SCP-5083 is ███. Anyone in contact with SCP-5083 is referenced as SCP-5083-1
When exposed to immense pressures and temperatures, no physical changes have been observed, deeming SCP-5083 indestructible.
SCP-5083 originates from [DATA REDACTED].
