Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Keter

Threat Level: Orange1

Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-#### are to kept at site-99 in containment cells appropriate for the species with two major modifications. Containment cells are to be outfitted with radiation shielding and sufficient lighting so that a human would be a able to see in all areas of the cell. Additionally each instance of SCP-#### is to have it's own containment cell, as instances have attacked each other in the past.

Allowing SCP-#### instances to "die" causes them to demanifest; this is considered a containment breach. Using sedatives on SCP-#### leads to similar results.

SCP-#### will break containment after approximately 200 days in containment. Tests are to be run on SCP-#### a few days before this exhaustion "death" to minimize breaches. This is typical behavior for the object. When SCP-#### breaks containment MTF phi-5 "Zookeepers" will contain any instances that have breached containment.

Areas irradiated by SCP-#### are to be quarantined for 24 hours after which the area will return to normal conditions. The size of the quarantine is to measured at MTF phi-5's discretion. Maintaining the quarantine for longer than 24 hours may be necessary for a convincing cover story.

Any questions regarding SCP-####'s containment can brought to Dr. Defruff or the director of site-99.

Description: SCP-#### refers to a group of anomalous animals with melanism2 and shared anomalous properties.

SCP-### The ability to teleport between any two patches of shadow within 0.9 kilometers. There is a delay of 1 minute to 30 days between appearances or disappearances. Following a "death" event SCP-#### ignores the range restriction upon manifesting, but it will need a full 30 days to reform.

Whenever SCP-#### appears or disappears there is a Burst of ionizing radiation occurs. This radiation does not harm SCP-####, but has killed ██ civilians and █ Foundation Personal. Radiation poisoning caused by SCP-#### can be treated identically to non-anomalous radiation poisoning with conventional medicine.

SCP-#### instances do not sleep. They will eventual "die" of exhaustion leading to a containment breach. This occurs after being awake for about 200 days.

Known instances of SCP-#### are as follows.

Designation Species First Contact
SCP-####-A Domestic Cat (Felis silvestris catus) 11/04/2007
SCP-####-B Domestic Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) 03/10/2010
SCP-####-C Domestic Dog (Canis lupus familiaris) 06/11/2012
SCP-####-D Domestic Gerbil3 10/20/2015
SCP-####-E [Data Expunged] 01/16/2018

SCP-#### seems to prefer to manifest in forested areas will they will forage for food. They do however enter rural and sub-urban communities. In these regions they can threaten the health of civilians. SCP-####-C has been known to seek out affection from humans.

Addendum.01: On 11/01/2007 A█████ C█████ uploaded footage of a black cat disappearing and reappearing in shadows to his Facebook acount. The footage was flagged as a potential issue by Foundation personal. The general consensus was that it was simply doctored footage. However two days later on 11/03 C█████ was hospitalized with radiation sickness. A█████ C█████ entered a coma and died before the foundation could interview him. SCP-####-A was contained without further public incident. A cover story was provided for C█████'s death, and the video has been taken down. Class-D amnesics where used on civilians that believed the footage as needed.

Addendum.02 Experiment logs

Test A - 06/1/2008

Subject: SCP-####-A
Procedure: A radiation resistant camera will be mounted to SCP-####-A to determine if the entity enters any alternate or pocket dimensions on the occasion of its "death".
Results: SCP-####-A disappears leaving the recording equipment behind.
Analysis: Foreign objects cannot travel with SCP-#### except perhaps ingested food. - Dr. Debruff

Test B - 01/07/2009

Subject: SCP-####-A
Procedure: A sedative is injected into SCP-####-A in an attempt to prevent "Exhaustion Death".
Results: SCP-####-A disappears. This constitutes a containment breach. Researcher is hospitalized for radiation sickness.
Analysis: SCP-#### is not to be given sedatives under any circumstances. - Dr. Debruff

Test C - 08/23/2009

Subject: SCP-####-A
Procedure: Pieces of organic material, primarily SCP-####-A's food, is atached to SCP-####-A in a hemp fiber basket with hemp fiber rope.
Results: SCP-####-A disappears leaving behind all extra materials
Analysis: SCP-#### only transports its body. - Dr. Debruff

Test D - 04/10/2010

Subject: SCP-####-A
Procedure: A radiation resistant GPS unit is injected into SCP-####-A.
Results: SCP-####-A disappears. There is no apparent sign that the GPS has been expelled. However when SCP-####-A next manifests the GPS is dysfunctional. Once contained researchers can not locate the GPS on or in SCP-####-A
Analysis: Foreign matter does not travel with SCP-#### it remains unclear what happens to SCP-####'s food when it "teleports". - Dr. Debruff

Test E - 03/20/2010

Subject: SCP-####-A and -B
Procedure: The two instances of SCP-#### are introduced
Results: SCP-####-A attacks and kills SCP-####-B.
Analysis: Test E is a premature containment breach for SCP-####-B. While this may be normal behavior for some cats. Researchers are reminded to be careful. Containment Procedures updated to prevent future breaches. - Dr. Debruff

After acquiring SCP-####-B tests A through D are repeated over SCP-####-B's next four life cycles. The same results occur. Suggestions for means of tracking SCP-#### are welcome.
