When I was young, the elders told me, flowers in Astra town are not allowed to pick.
There is a legend in Astra town. On the night of the new moon, people in town who are about to die will turn into flowers. The flowers in the town are all silver, just like a few stars scattered on the earth.
Once, I asked an elder if the legend is true. He didn't answer. He was silent and looked up at the stars. For a long time, he read a poem:
Youth passes as a fleeting river, star lies in the silver flower.

Even if I work in a foreign land now, I still think of the flowers in the town. Five trivial petals surround the alabastrum, like a silver bell lying on the ground. The flower will only open on the night of the new moon. On other days, the bridal flowers are like maiden sleeping deeply.
When I was still young, I had been to an empty house in town. The wooden door with lucid texture, the rough desk covered with dust, they all show that there had been no one living here for a long time. In the back yard, all the weeds were dead, there was only a silver flower alive.
The border of must be patrolled by Foundation personnel, civilians discovered accessing is to be interrogated, amnesticized and released. All personnel monitoring expeditions are to take thirty minute shifts and are to be administered Class-B amnestics to negate the psychological and physical effects of standing in the direct vicinity of SCP-5179.
That day, my younger sister suddenly called me and told me that she had been having the same dream. She said she dreamed about the flowers in town. At first, it was only on the night of the new moon that she had such a dream. Later, it became more and more frequent. In the dream, those flowers bloom without exception. The sky is like ink. In the night with only a few stars, silver flowers twinkle on the ground, which makes her feel inexplicable fear.
I didn't pay too much attention on it then. But now I feel regret for it.
A week after the call, my sister fainted on the road. She was sent to the hospital immediately. The hospital gave her a physical examination. She was found to have advanced gastric cancer. I told the situation of my sister to the whole family. Everyone kept silent, because our family cannot afford the expensive medical expenses.
Description: SCP-5179 is a interdimensional anomaly located in ██████. The project can only be seen on the night of the new moon. Due to it's anomalous properties, anyone enter SCP-5179 will turn into SCP-5179-1 and the process is irreversible.
Fortunately, my sister woke up. After waking up, She began to be in a trance. She cried and screamed, saying words that no one could understand.
"Youth passes as a fleeting river, star lies in the silver flower. "
This was the only sentence I could understand that my sister said on those days. The next day, doctor told us my sister can't be treated, because of her mental problem.
Our parents took her back to Astra town. I could do nothing but go back to work. But, I can still hear the screaming of my sister, it became my deepest nightmare.
The entrance of the project is located in a cave at the bottom of ████ mountain. The area of 50 square meters around the mountain is covered with mist. After entering the entrance of the project, will step onto a narrow passage with a total length of about 70 meters. At the end of the passage, SCP-5179 is connected. The edge of SCP-5179 is inaccessible, so the cave at the bottom of ████ mountain is the only entrance and exit of the project.
After days, my mother called me and told me to go back to Astra town. I stopped my work immediately and went back home. Everything was as usual. But, the flowers glowed brighter.
I rushed into my sister's room. She lied in the bed, looking pale and haggard. "Here you are, sister." She said with smile.
The sunset at dusk sprinkled the last remnant mottle on the windowsill. I suddenly realized that it is the night of the new moon. Tears comes out from my sister's eyes.
"I'm scared, sister." She says.
SCP-5179-1 is the group designation for people in SCP-5179. SCP-5179-1 is people living in town. Astra town is small, so everyone in town is like a family. It seemed like they all know about the situation of my sister, so the town was strangely quiet, even the naughtiest child in town didn't come out today.
Her word is like a rose, it's weak and strengthless, but still stabs into my heart and makes it bleed. I dry her tears and attempt to comfort her.
"It'll be okay, there will be no pain, just like a dream…” I suddenly stop saying, because I've never experienced it, no one does, no one knows how it is like. What I just said was just my ridiculous fantasy about the unknown.
"No…The dreams…They were so scary…"She says with a crying sound.
I look at the window. The endless darkness covers the light, only stars are shining. The stars twinkle on the sky, make up the milky way. On one side of the milky way, it's the new moon. The moon is so fine that people ignore it carelessly.
[NO LIFE SINGS MONITORED]
I look into the room. My sister has stood up.
"The new moon has risen…It seems like I have no much time left." She says, "Sister, you won't forget me, right?"
"How will I? You're my only sister, I'll never forget you!" I cry, trying to hug her.
I touch her body, and find out that her body is cold as ice. Tears come out from her eyes again. The blue eyes of my sister is shining, so lucid, they reflect all the stars in the sky.
Everything around me starts to get distorted. The whole room is surrounded by silvery, I am densed in the silver world, my mind is gradually swallowed by silver.
I reach out my hand, but they go straight through my sister's body. Looking down, I only have a silver petal in my hand. The petal is warm, like first rays of the morning sun. The silvery around retreat in a sudden, everything restores slient. I look at my sister…
Sister? Isn't me the only child in my family?
I look at the photo of my family. On the picture, my father is smiling, hugging me when I was young with my mother. Beside my mother, it's an empty baby carriage.
That's right, there are only three people in my family.
In this silent night, the stars are clearly visible in the sky. The flowers in town are blooming, embellishing the small town.
Youth passes as a fleeting river, star lies in the silver flower.
I pick up a fallen petal. Beneath the silver, I see all the stars.
