SCP-4769 is stored in Storage Sector 362 in a 3x3x3 foot iron box. It is to routinely be checked on at the times of 6 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM, and 12 AM by a Deputy, or Agent, if the Deputy is unavailable. The Agent shall be briefed on the Deputy’s specific duties and follow the instructions given. Whatever is monitoring SCP-4769 shall be hereby known as “Guard”.
The SCP-4769 shall not, under any circumstances, have anything inserted into its mouth. The Guard shall not, under any circumstance, accept anything that is dispensed from SCP-4769 or any of its duplicates. If Guard sees an object that was not previously in the subject’s containment box, it must be destroyed where it is. It will not be picked up. It will not be moved by any apparatus.
If Guard sees a duplicate of SCP-4769 (called SCP-4769-1, or further numerals depending on how many duplicates there are in existence) they must remove the duplicate from the original as quickly as possible. Guard will then order a transit to the furthest possible Storage Sector to prevent further multiplication. Then, another Guard will be assigned to monitor SCP-4769-1, and follow the same instructions listed above.
SCP-4769 was found in a thrift store called “Serendipity” in █████, WA.
It is a golden model of a mythical Chinese creature known as “Pi Yao”. It is slightly serpentine in nature, with the body of a lion and the head of a horned dragon. It is posed as if it is mid-walk, with the front and back right paws positioned forward, and the back left paws positioned backwards. It’s eyes are wide open. The mouth of it is open, and is hollow. Attempts to reach inside the mouth are unsuccessful. When a hand or finger is placed inside, it had been noticed that it seems impossible to find the walls of the throat. Rather, the reaching apparatus just finds empty space.
The gold of it is slightly tarnished, and has been tested to be a lead paint. Parts are chipped, revealing a white base, tested to be ivory. It measures 8 inches tall, 4.6 inches wide, and one foot long. It stands on a black base.
A wrinkled slip of brown paper is tied using a white cable tie to SCP-4769’s front right paw. A black text is printed on it in Papyrus font, size 8. It reads:
“Pi Yao was a fierce fighter, but violated a law of heaven. It was punished to eat nothing but gold and silver. It has a voracious appetite, and wishes for a meal.”
The back of the tag is a crude hand-drawn sketch of the subject, just above company name:█████ Inc. Distributed by ███. All Rights Reserved. A barcode is printed next to it. Nothing registers when scanned.
SCP-4769 will regularly dispense items from its mouth when near humans. The head of the subject will not move, nor the jaw, but an item will fall from the open mouth. Where it acquires these items is unknown. What kind of item it will dispense is unknown. When put in a testing chamber with a human for one hour, subject dispensed roughly one (1) object per 12.03 minutes.
When “fed” (an item is inserted into its mouth) the SCP will accept it. Within a maximum of 3.7 hours, a smaller duplicate will appear. When recorded via security CTV camera, there is no “birthing” or “splitting” process. No form of meiosis or similar means of division has been recognized. The duplicate will appear at random. Instead of the duplicate representing Pi Yao, it will resemble another creature of Chinese mythology, such as a dragon, or Mogwai.
Subject will seemingly continue to dispense items until one is taken. When the item is taken, SCP-4769 will no longer dispense items, and instead stay dormant, until introduced to a separate subject. It will no longer dispense items to the same recipient, but it will for others. The original recipient will never receive another item from SCP-4769. It is unknown if its duplicates, such as SCP-4769-1, will dispense new items for old recipients.
Whether or not the taken items have any significance to the recipient is mixed. Formal tests were conducted with D-Class subjects.
Test A
Subject: D-57760
Procedure: When placed in containment with SCP-4769, almost immediately, a small, empty pistachio shell dropped from the mouth of the SCP. Subject curiously picked it up and examined it.
Results: When asked, subject stated they had no kind of afilliation with pistachios in their lifetime. No noteable data was acquired.
Analysis: Insignificant item given. Monitoring D-57760 daily for any pistachio-related developments.
Test B -
Subject: D-57761
Procedure: When placed in containment with SCP-4769, SCP provided an item after 13 minutes and 41 seconds of waiting. Subject, ignoring instruction to not touch the SCP, placed their finger in its mouth. A puncture wound formed on the corner of the fingernail, not as if they had been bitten, but as if they had scratched their hand. Moments later, a band-aid fell from the mouth.
Results: Subject, upset over their wound, wrapped the given band-aid around it. New data acquired for significance of items.
Analysis: Significant item given. D-57761 now knows to not put their hands in the mouths of animals.
SCP-4769 initially appeared harmless (apart from Test B) until a test was conducted as well to see if items dispensed for separate recipients could be accepted by others. The results of this test have been expunged.
