Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a faraday cage in a locked vault in Section C of Site-88, on sublevel 11. Given that this object poses no threat unless left in the open, a simple vault should suffice. Access is restricted to Clearance 4 personnel, and all testing reports must be submitted within 24 hours of experimentation. Access is restricted to all personnel at this time until further notice.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 19th-century style terrestrial globe with a diameter of 1 meter, suspended by an unknown force in a wooden frame. The frame consists of a ring of stained oak wood standing on three legs. The globe appears to be live, 3D recreation of the Earth, complete with real-time cloud movements, weather patterns, tide cycles, and all other natural phenomenon. The object does not come into contact with the frame at any point. It is not suspended or held in place by any discernible method, yet it moves with the frame. In addition, the globe has a weak gravitational field around it, extending roughly 3 centimeters from the surface before dissipating.
Microscopic inspection has revealed detailed, accurate cities and other human structures on SCP-XXXX. Upon closer examination, tiny humans replicating their real counterpart's every action. Experimentation has revealed that the tiny humans have no free will of their own. Every single item and action taken on Earth appear to be replicated perfectly on SCP-6000, even if the object is so tiny to exist at that scale would violates the laws of physics.
When a human comes into contact with the surface of the globe, they are sucked onto SCP-XXXX's surface, their height being reduced by a factor of 12,742,000. Curiously, the globe can only be affected by objects and entities on its surface, making it impervious to outside forces. Other organisms (anomalous or otherwise) are not sucked in upon contact with the globe. Communication is possible with trapped individuals, as cellular devices on the globe are capable of contacting the outside world.
Discovery: The object was
Experiment XXXX-01: Multiple organisms and objects were tested against SCP-6000's properties. A comprehensive list of everything tested follows.
- One copy of A Tale of Two Cities
- The book was touched to the surface of SCP-XXXX to no affect.
- One coffee mug
- The mug was touched to the surface of SCP-XXXX to no affect.
- One ounce of water
- The water was poured onto the top of SCP-XXXX, but it slid off, meeting no resistance. Further testing revealed the water did not bond with any part of the surface of SCP-XXXX.
- Three drops of red dye
- Red dye was dropped into the Artic Ocean region of SCP-XXXX, but like the water, it slid off, not bonding with the liquid on the globe.
- One potted oak tree sapling (Quercus velutina)
- The tree was touched to the surface of SCP-XXXX to no affect.
- One common fire ant (Solenopsis invicta)
- The ant was touched to the surface of SCP-XXXX with tweezers, to no affect.
- One house cat (Felis catus)
- The cat was touched to the surface of SCP-XXXX to no affect.
- One D-Class personnel
- D-8324 was instructed to touch SCP-XXXX. When D-8324 made contact with the surface of the globe, they shrank rapidly and were drawn onto the surface of SCP-XXXX where they made contact.
- SCP-662
- SCP-662's bell was rung, and when Mr. Deeds appeared, he was instructed to touch the surface of SCP-XXXX. He obeyed, but SCP-XXXX had no affect on him.
- SCP-1799
- SCP-XXXX was placed in SCP-1799's cell, but when SCP-1799 made contact with the globe, it had no affect.
Experiment XXXX-02: When several D-Class personnel was instructed to perform an obstacle course set up outside Site-88, their microscopic counterparts copied their exact movements. After comparing the footage of the D-Class personnel completing the obstacle course and the footage of their microscopic counterparts, no perceptible difference was detected after superimposing the footage over each other and going through frame by frame.
Experiment XXXX-03: A cell phone was given to D-Class personnel 8356, who was then instructed to touch SCP-XXXX. Once D-8356 was on the surface of SCP-XXXX, he called Dr. Morse, who oversaw the experiments. The following is a transcript of their conversation.
<Begin Log, 4:32PM>
Dr. Morse: Hello? D-8356, are you there?
D-8356: Yeah, Dr. Morse, I'm here. Am I… am I on that globe?
Dr. Morse: Yes. Currently you are on the surface of SCP-XXXX.
D-8356: That's… but the globe is tiny, and everything here is normal sized. Wait, did I shrink? How am I going to get back if I'm tiny now?"
Dr. Morse: 8356, that is irrelevant. Right now, we continue with the experiment, and we'll discuss your return later. Tell me, what do you see down there?
D-8356: Uh, I guess I'm in some sort of field. It's a meadow, I think… there's a forest behind me and some sort of town in the distance.
Dr. Morse: Head towards the town, 8356.
D-8356: Right. Okay.
(There was a three minute pause in conversation as D-8356 walked to the town.)
D-8356: Okay, I'm here… everything looks pretty normal. Hey, there's other people down here too!
Dr. Morse: Those are merely recreations of real people up here, 8356. Puppets, if you will.
D-8356: I'll say… they give me the creeps. It's something in their eyes… they're not quite right. Like their spark is missing. They may be walking around, but no one's home, if you get what I mean.
Dr. Morse: Really? So they're not completely accurate representations, then?
D-8356: Yeah… something's off about them. It's… it's just a feeling, really.
Dr. Morse: Is there anything else unusual down there? Anything else off?"
(A slight pause occurs.)
D-8356: No… I'd say everything else is pretty normal, actually.
Dr. Morse: Very well. We'll move on to the next part of the experiment, then. 8356, do you know where you are?
D-8356:Nope. Not a clue.
Dr. Morse: I need you to proceed to Baldwin County, Alabama.
D-8356: Alabama? Why?
Dr. Morse: Don't question orders, 8356. Just do it. I don't care how you get there, but you need to get to Baldwin County, Alabama. Call me back when you reach it.
<End Log, 4:37PM>
Foreword: D-8356 reached Baldwin County, Alabama after six hours of driving across SCP-6000 in a stolen car. D-8356 proceeded to call Dr. Morse.
<Begin Log, 10:52PM>
D-8356: Hey Doc, I'm in Baldwin County. Finally made it. My stupid phone couldn't tell where I was, so I had to use paper maps.
Dr. Morse: Well, I'm glad you made it. Now, do you see the nuclear power plant on the edge of town?
D-8356: Yeah, I see. Kinda hard to miss, what with those giant smoking towers of theirs.
Dr. Morse: Good. Head to the east edge of the plant. You'll see a sign that say, "Restricted Zone." Ignore it and continue until you see several large, white tents set up in a clearing.
D-8356: Whatever you say, Doc…
(Slight intermission as D-8356 drives to the power plant and finds the cluster of tents.)
D-8356: Okay, I'm here… there's quite a few people here. And hey, there's you, Doc! Talking to me on the phone! And… and a replica of that globe thing you made me touch! That one that I'm on now!
Dr. Morse: Really? Another SCP-XXXX? Are you sure?
D-8356: Of course I'm sure! It's standing there under a tent, plain as day! There's even three of your guys examining it with microscopes as I speak!
Dr. Morse: Maybe he's not all that insane, after all…
D-8356: Hey, this could be my way home! Maybe if I touch this globe, it spits me back out!
Dr. Morse: 8356, touch the globe. But not in a population dense area.
D-8356: Wait, what? What do you mean?
Dr. Morse: Exactly what I said. Don't touch the globe on a population dense area. It could have… unforeseen side effects. How about you touch it, I don't know, on the Sahara desert, or Alaska?
D-8356: Riiiight. Ok, I'll try the desert.
(Less than a second later, connection was lost.)
Dr. Morse: Hello? Hello? 8356, do you copy?
Dr. Morse: Damn.
<End Log, 11:07PM>
Closing Statement: A GPS trace of D-8356's phone was immediately performed, but it turned up nothing. On another note, other methods of recovering subjects from SCP-XXXX are being researched, but so far none look promising.
