Special Containment Procedures: The towns of Bangor, Maine and Brewer, Maine are to be monitored by Foundation agents disguised as various community organizations, such as Police or the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and are to report on any activity from "The Children of Father Moon". Individuals affected by SCP-#### are to be administered Class-A Amenstics and are to be observed for a period of 30 days following the incident.
When SCP-#### manifests, Foundation agents are to avoid directly looking at the moon and are to lock down their respective facilities until the anomaly ceases. Once the anomaly has ceased, Class-A Amnestics are to be provided to the community.
Description: SCP-#### is a cognitohazardous event that occurs in the town of Bangor, Maine when the moon is in either a first quarter, third quarter, or full moon phase.
Subjects present during an SCP-#### event describe being "dazed and confused" during the event. Those who directly look at the moon during said event, labeled as SCP-###-A, describe being unable to remember the event. ####-A instances are found to have developed major mental disorders after the event. For a list of disorders and how they affect ####-A subjects, see "#### Disorders" below. These mental disorders are permanent and worsen as the moon approaches a full moon. These disorders will gradually lessen in severity as the moon approaches a New Moon.
Disorder: Schizophrenia
Symptoms: ####-A instances that develop this disorder claim to be suffering from visual hallucinations that take the form of a man whenever the moon is visible. ####-A instances call this man "Moon Man", "Man in the Moon", "The Guardian of the Moon", and "Father Moon". Subjects also claim to be suffering from auditory hallucinations. These auditory hallucinations take the form of a voice, often attributed to the "Moon Man". The voice is reported to speak to these people directly, telling them to "Pray to the Moon", "Worship the Moon", "Watch the Moon", and "Trust The Moon". Instances also consistently suffer from disorganized speech, often speaking of the moon.
Disorder: Selenophobia
Symptoms: ####-A instances gain an irrational fear of the moon, claiming that "It watches us always". ####-A instances will refuse to leave their house, often retreating to the lowest level of the house to "escape The Moon". Subjects will suffer from panic attacks even when the moon is not visible.
Disorder: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Symptoms: ####-A instances experience severe panic attacks and flashbacks of being chased or attacked by the "Moon Man" during nights where the moon is visible. When ####-A instances enter REM sleep on nights where the moon is visible, brain activity spikes and the subject will begin to become restless. This often leads to the subject waking up in a cold sweat, claiming to have nightmares where they are "being chased by The Moon" or "being chased by the Moon Man".
Disorder: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Symptoms: ####-A instances experience extremely compulsive behavior, often opening and closing blinds repeatedly to "invite The Moon in" or "keep The Moon out". Those who desire to "keep The Moon out" will also check any and all locks on their door and will test the door several times. Those who wish to "invite The Moon in" will ensure their doors are unlocked, opening and closing the door repeatedly. Further observational research is required on these individuals to discover new behavior.
Disorder: Anorexia
Symptoms: ####-A instances refuse to eat anything that isn't round cheese or ice cream.
Note: It is currently unknown if this is related to the statement "The Moon is made of green cheese" and the tale "Hey Diddle Diddle", or if this anomaly is sentient and has a sense of humor.

As of 9/12/19, a religious cult has formed around The Moon and The Moon Man. Members of this group have been identified as instances of SCP-####-A. The cult, known as "The Children of Father Moon", have attempted to spread outside of Bangor, Maine. So far, the cult has spread to Brewer, Maine; Holden, Maine; Dedham, Maine; and Otis, Maine. While SCP-#### hasn't manifested in these locations, there have been several attempts by the cult to force it to manifest in these locations via rituals. Foundation agents have been embedded into the cult to track its movements.
After the exchange, the Foundation began to look into The South Pole-Aitken Basin, the deepest impact crater on The Moon. This led to the discovery of a large mass beneath the crater. This anomaly will be investigated further.
