002 tale - "Snack for the Road"
please let me know what works about this and what doesn't
feedback: Will not work unless it has a beginning, middle, end; needs to be more memorable; too many containment breaches already!
Incident Log 002.2204.2
The following was recorded on standard personnel audio gear on ██/██/22042.
(Sounds determined to be the automated door and lighting systems to the observation deck engaging.)
████: (clothes shuffling) Let's get it all back online now that we have power.
█████: Strobes always mess with my color vision. It's gettin' worse.
██████: Wait where is 002?
████: … What?
████: What the hell…?
██████: ████, where is 002?!
████: It was locked down, I don't-
████: Re-sound a containment breach.
(Code Blue alarm is engaged with no response from the Site PA system.)
███████: Sound the damn alarm.
████: It isn't working.
████: The power's on again, I don't understand. Could it have been damaged somehow?
█████: It was just sounding. It just ended, right before we came back inside. We all heard it.
███████: Try the comms, let's get an off-site trigger.
████: …comms offline.
████: I don't understand.
█████: Did the emergency barrier fail?
████: So what if it did, where would it have "gone"? Not exactly mobile.
█████: As far as we know.
████: █████, head out to the containment area and see if you can… find it. If it's in there, we need to reconnect it.
███████: Aren't there MTFs for this sort of thing?
████: We don't technically have a protocol for this. We've always gone back in ourselves.
█████: It's fucking actually been in there those times.
████: Fair point. Look, I'll go.
█████: No, no. I will I'm not afraid. It was just on principle.
███████: Why don't you both go? ████ and I will stay here and try to troubleshoot the systems.
████: Should I call back in the rest of the personnel?
███████: No, this thing is still in a breach. You know the drill, no one comes back in until we re-secure her.
█████: Can we kill the strobes? I can't see shit in here.
███████: Negative █████.
████: Talk to us.
█████: No sign of her… looks like she may have took the power supply with her.
████: It's not there?
█████: Yeah ripped straight from the w —
███████: You see it?
█████: No, no. Those aren’t power cables, it’s… intestines? Okay. She didn't take the power supply with her… it's just not here.
████: What do you mean?
█████: I mean where the cables come out from the wall, that isn't here. Like, at all.
████: Can confirm. There's nothing, no…
███████: What's the problem ████?
████: No problem, just having trouble describing… it's like the power supply was never built. It's just a continuous, uninterrupted wall of the containment area.
████: I have his position confirmed.
█████: What do we do?
███████: Well get back first of all, nothing to do if there's no power supply.
████: Any redundancies?
███████: Does that really matter? We can't find 002.
█████: Any luck with the comms?
████: Negative.
███████: Okay, everyone out. This is still an active breach so let's get back outside and regroup. We can find other sources to communicate. Site-██ is our backup, they can signal for us.
████: Well shit.
█████: What now?
████: The exit we just came in through is jammed.
████: What?
█████: Okay.
███████: It's just… stuck a bit, let's…
████: What the hell is going on?
█████: Can we rip it open?
█████: There's a crowbar in the observation deck, in the storage locker.
████: I'll get it.
███████: This… something isn't right.
████: No shit.
████: Hey █████?
█████: Yeah?
████: There's no locker.
█████: I'm sorry?
████: There's no locker here. I know there should be one, but there… just isn't.
█████: What the fuck.
███████: ████ shoot the door.
████: Yes sir.
(████ fires his pistol. The sound of a metal casing clinking is not recorded.)
█████: I found her!
████: What?
███████: Where is 002 █████?
█████: She's… here but on the wrong side. Guess we didn't see her cause of the strobes. Beats me why she moved though. I can get to her I think on the scaffolding. Headed there now.
████: Be careful, I'm coming your way for backup.
███████: ████ try the door now.
████: (Grunting)
███████: This is ███████, Lead Containment, Site █, 002, requesting assistance, over.
████: (Heavy breathing)
███████: We are locked inside Site █, containment area 002, we need evacuation. Containment breach for the object is active. I repeat; containment breach is active. Requesting assistance. Over.
████: Careful!
█████: I got it. I'm here, going to see if there's any other pow —
(Distorted chatter is picked up through ███████'s mic, confirmed to be from Agent ██████ of Site-██ in response to the distress signal.)
Agent ██████: Roger… (static)…signa-…(static)…
████: The door is bleeding.
Agent ██████: (static)… no report of a containm… (static)
█████: What the… fuck…
████: What's the matter?
█████: It's… hair.
████: What?
█████: SCP-002 is made of fucking hair.
███████: Shoot the walls! Shoot the walls!
█████: Why?!
(Gunshots are heard successively.)
███████: Shoot the fucking wa—
(Microphone feed terminates.)
Closing Statement: Eyewitness reports confirm a loud explosion and the vertical ascent of a spherical object matching the description of SCP-002. The item is currently uncontained and will exit the Earth's orbit in approximately 1 hour. The object has attempted to camouflage itself in the fashion observed upon its discovery. Loss of power to Site-█ resulted from an electrical surge that originated from containment area 002. The Site's structural integrity has been compromised. Repairs to the roof are estimated to be complete by ██/██/2205.
