Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX does not have any dangerous effects and is currently being held on Site 11, where it has been placed in the guard's sleeping quarters in corridor 2B. Use of SCP-XXXX must be authorised by Dr. Alexandra.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a single bed identical to standard Class D personnel bedding. It is unknown precisely when the item arrived at Site 11, however documents of past expenditure shows a period where Site 11 switched the company that it acquired its' furnishing from. SCP-XXXX was purchased from an online retailer named Vanligt Interiors. The website does not contain any contact information or a return address. All attempts to further investigate Vanligt Interiors have been unsuccessful.

SCP-XXXX is comprised of a metal mesh bed frame, a memory foam mattress, a wool duvet and one cotton pillow. The effects of SCP-XXXX do not occur when any of the aforementioned items are taken away from the bed frame.

SCP-XXXX induces an eight hour sleep to any human or animal that lies down on it. During experiments with insomniacs, test subjects were able to fall asleep within fifteen seconds of getting into the bed. An electroencephalogram (EEG) scan monitored their brain activity during the eight hours and consistently displayed brain activity data identical to a delta rhythm. Post-experiment test subjects, previously suffering from insomnia, reported having no trouble falling to sleep in their normal beds after sleeping in SCP-XXXX.

Tests were continued and conducted with subjects who had recently awoken from sleep, along with subjects who had also been instructed to ingest high amounts of caffeine. Results were indistinguishable from the initial test; all subjects immediately fell into a deep sleep for eight exact hours. Brain activity in all the subjects were similar; EEG scans displayed slow brain waves characteristic of Stage 4 sleep.

Class C personnel and above may use SCP-XXXX so long as it does not interfere with their workload. Any personnel Class C and above, who wish to use SCP-XXXX must see Dr. Alexandra. Staff experiencing sleep abnormalities, insomnia or sleep deprivation will take priority.

Addendum 1.1: SCP-XXXX was initially discovered when D-294246 was thought to be defying direct orders from a guard. They remained unresponsive to all commands and were soon threatened with termination. The guard removed D-294246 from the bed, however when the Class D did not move or react, the on-duty guard checked their pulse to see if they were alive. The Class D reportedly had a slowed heartbeat and seemed very relaxed despite having been thrown onto the floor. After twenty minutes D-294246 woke up, upon being questioned they told site staff: Lie on that bed for a second.
