Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a blastproof, combination-locked safe at Site-██. Only the site director may have access to said combination. STF (Stationary Task Force) unit Chi-24 "Watchdogs" have been created to guard SCP-XXXX at all times. Any personnel with Level 3 or higher clearance may conduct experiments on SCP-XXXX. Nobody is allowed access to SCP-XXXX at this time, outside of maintenance and emergencies. If, at any point, someone who has seen SCP-XXXX (hereafter referred to as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1) attempts to reach SCP-XXXX, they are to be terminated on sight. (See addendum XXXX27) Should termination not be possible, all foundation personnel are to prepare for an XK-Class End-of-world Scenario.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a crown made of gold with a diameter of 39 centimeters. SCP-XXXX is embedded with 8 onyx stones that sit underneath 8 spires. These spires reach a height of 3.5 centimeters. Upon anyone seeing SCP-XXXX, be it through direct viewing, picture, or video, they will feel an urge to find SCP-XXXX. This urge is accompanied by a condition similar to schizophrenia consisting of whispering voices telling subjects to "find his crown". These voices will also tell instances of a perfect world that "he" will create when he comes back. Should an instance be unresponsive to these voices, they will start to degrade the instance and tell them how much better they would be with "him". Instances who last more than a few weeks have reported hallucinations of a humanoid in red robes, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 will tell instances of a world that it will create which will have no suffering and no pain. SCP-XXXX-2 will also tell instances about SCP-XXXX itself, telling them to find it.
Most instances can resist the urge to find SCP-XXXX for approximately one week before breaking down, with some instances possessing particularly strong wills being able to ward off the condition completely. All SCP-XXXX-1 instances have known exactly where SCP-XXXX is, even when personnel hid the object. (See experiment log XXXX-B) It is to be noted that SCP-XXXX-1's thoughts cannot be purged of SCP-XXXX through use of amnestics. Should the instance be prevented from accesing SCP-XXXX in any way, they will return to normal while periodically trying to get to SCP-XXXX.
Upon finding the object unsecured, instances will show a state of extreme euphoria and attempt to wear SCP-XXXX. Once an instance is wearing SCP-XXXX, they will begin counting downward. What they are counting down to is, as of yet, unknown. However, interviews with affected persons suggest it is a ritual to summon a demon of some sort. (See interview log XXXX-A) Should an instance be stopped from counting for any reason, the countdown will cease. Upon a new instance putting on the object, they will immediately pick up where the last subject stopped, regardless of if the previous instance's count was recorded anywhere or not.
Instances who have begun counting down will not stop unless they are physically unable to count, by termination or the severing of the vocal cords.
The largest number recorded by foundation personnel was 3,027. Pictures of SCP-XXXX date back to the 1950's, suggesting the number could have been far larger at one point. The current number sits at 1423 7. As of incident XXXX48107, all SCP-XXXX-1 instances have been terminated.
By order of the 05 council, no further testing is to be conducted upon SCP-XXXX until both of the following are true:
The Foundation knows the entire scope of what will happen when SCP-XXXX's countdown ends.
The Foundation can contain or stop SCP-XXXX's result.
Containment procedures of SCP-XXXX are to be updated to a combination-locked blastproof safe. The code is to be computer-generated, and only the director of Site-██ is to know the code. The door leading to SCP-XXXX is to be guarded by STF unit Chi-24 "Watchdogs" at all times. Should anyone other than the aforementioned site director get access to the safe, they are to be terminated and a new code instated.
Anyone, including staff, attempting to access SCP-XXXX are to be terminated on sight. The only exceptions to this rule are the general maintenance of the containment chamber and unforseen emergencies. In the event that termination of unauthorized entrees is not possible, all staff are to prepare for an XK Class End-of-world Scenario.
-05-██.
Test: D-2564 and D-3727 were exposed to SCP-XXXX at once. This test was conducted to find the results of two instances finding SCP-XXXX at once.
Result: The two instances both ran for SCP-XXXX simultaneously. D-2564 reached SCP-XXXX before D-3727. The two began to fight. D-3727 beat D-2564 until he could no longer stand and put on SCP-XXXX. D-2564 was seemingly cured of all wounds and began worshipping SCP-XXXX. The two D-Class both began counting in tandem, doubling the speed of the countdown.
Test: SCP-XXXX was hidden underneath a table with a cloth hung over it via a robotic arm. D-1896 was shown a picture of it in a room on a separate wing.
Result: D-1896 found SCP-XXXX immediately and began counting. Several similar experiments were conducted, discovering that those exposed to SCP-XXXX know exactly where the object is at all times.
Interviewed: D-1380, a known instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Interviewer: Dr. ██████
Foreword: D-1380 had been staring at a picture of SCP-XXXX for 30 minutes before interview. Dr. ██████ has been tasked with discovering what the countdown leads to.
<Begin Log>
Dr. ██████: D-1380. I have a few questions for you.
D-1380: Can you not see that I am in the middle of something very important, Doctor?
Dr. ██████: Yes, I see that, but I have some very important questions to ask you.
D-1380: Alright, alright. What are your questions?
Dr. ██████: Well, I would like to ask specifically about what your colleagues are counting down toward.
D-1380: Well, Doctor, I can assure you of one thing: you would be wise to not stop us from finishing our count.
Dr. ██████: Why is that?
D-1380: It will benefit you tremendously.
Dr.██████: How so?
D-1380: Let me put it this way: this "countdown", as you call it, is incredibly important. You do realize that you cannot stop it from completing, correct? It is inevitable, and we are merely speeding the process along.
Dr. ██████: Answer the question, D-1380.
D-1380: The sun shall set upon the world as the trumpets sound. Our Lord and savior comes to power to finally bear his crown. Can't you see, Doctor? Can you not see why we count? We wish for him to return! He will bring justice to chaos, Doctor! He will eradicate all evil and leave only the faithful. I wish to be his servant!
Dr. ██████: Is that why you wear the crown? To get into some kind of cult?
D-1380: We are not a cult. We are vessels for him. He will come back and destroy this puny world. He will return in clouds of glory, Doctor! He will make a new Earth. One with no evil! No faults! Just him and us! Won't it be lovely, Doctor? Won't it?!
[At this point, Dr. ██████ saw the picture D-1380 is looking at.]
Dr. ██████: I… I… No. [Heavy breathing] No. I can't. It isn't real. It cannot be real… No!
D-1380: Come now, Doctor. You know he will be pleased by you. You, one of the smartest minds of the Foundation, counting for him. Join us.
Dr. ██████: Yes. Yes. He will be pleased by my arrival. Lead me to his crown. Let us bring him here.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: Shortly after, D-1380 and Dr. ██████, now instances of SCP-XXXX-1, overpowered the guards and entered SCP-XXXX's containment chamber. The countdown dropped by nearly 200 despite only two people counting down. Both were successfully terminated once more STF guards arrived.
An unexplained malfunction in SCP-████'s containment procedures led to a site-wide breach. Upon re-securing the site, 9 SCP XXXX-1 instances (formerly staff and d-class personnel) were found worshipping another instance wearing SCP XXXX. All were terminated immediately, but the count fell to dangerously low levels. The bearer of SCP XXXX showed a resistance to firearms and killed █ guards while babbling incoherently. The only word that could be picked out was "Salvation". Containment protocols are to be heavily revised and all testing is to be ceased.
