Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked file cabinet, using a mechanical key lock. The door to the containment area must be locked by a mechanical key lock. The area is to be kept under video surveillance.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 3X5 lined index card. “ID” is written in purple crayon on the left side, followed by several lines of scribbles meant to simulate script. The upper right hand corner contains a crude stick-figure in a box, also drawn in crayon.

When in the immediate possession of an individual (Hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) SCP-XXXX has the following anomalous properties:

Although no magnetic strip is present, SCP-XXXX may be used in a card reader for an electronic door or, locking mechanism.

When held up to a fingerprint or retina scanner which is securing a door or enclosure, SCP-XXXX will unlock the mechanism.

SCP-XXXX-1 is able to read any password or combination code in the scribbles on SCP-XXXX’s face. Third parties are unable to see any such legible material when looking at SCP-XXXX.

Any individual guarding an entrance or egress of any sort will identify SCP-XXXX-1 as an individual with the minimum credentials necessary to pass. The guard justify this decision, although no other memories or cognitive functions are affected. (See the interview in addendum-2 for details).
Contact must be line of sight, and is ineffective over video feeds; the anomalous effects will only begin after verbal contact is made by SCP-XXXX-1. In addition, the anomalous mental state produced by SCP-XXXX will discontinue upon the death of SCP-XXXX-1, or if SCP-XXXX-1 relinquishes control of SCP-XXXX in the presence of the affected individual.

(Possession may mean in hand, on a lanyard, or in a pocket, purse or backpack, physical contact is not necessary, but if SCP-XXXX is set down or handed to another individual, the properties will cease to be in effect.)

Addendum 1: History and Acquisition

SCP-XXXX was recovered from a hospital in (█) following an accident at a (█) theme park, regarding a child falling from a roller coaster. An embedded SCP agent investigated after a theme park employee was found to be in the injured child’s hospital room. Rooms are restricted to medical staff and family only, but a nurse had permitted the employee in, calling him ‘doctor’. She reversed herself and contacted hospital security when the employee set down the child’s (Hereafter known as “SCP-XXXX-1”) personal effects.
Investigation reveal SCP-XXXX among SCP-XXXX-1 possessions, attached to a lanyard.
Review of park security cameras show SCP-XXXX-1 entering the theme park and presenting SCP-XXXX at the ticket counter. Upon being interviewed, the park employee stated that SCP-XXXX-1 was holding a season pass for the park.
Upon entering the line for the (█) roller coaster, SCP-XXXX-1 presented SCP-XXXX to staff and was directed to the VIP express line; staff in this area state that SCP-XXXX was a VIP express pass. The final employee is seen on camera measuring SCP-XXXX-1 against the height board and then waving SCP-XXXX-1 forward despite a height insufficient by several inches.
Upon riding the roller coaster, SCP-XXXX-1 slipped from the roller coaster, due to having a height insufficient for the restraints.
The origin of SCP-XXXX is unknown, as is how SCP-XXXX-1 came to acquire it.

Addendum 2: Experimental Log
Experiment XXXX-E-1
Subject: D-309 15 year old male of El Salvador origin, convicted of multiple gang-related murders.
D-309 is given SCP-XXXX clipped to a lanyard and instructed to enter a bar. In cooperation with the SCP foundation, the bar owner has instructed all personnel to state the type of ID they are looking at when verifying, under the guise of stricter scrutiny.
D-309 encounters the bouncer and presents SCP-XXXX. The bouncer examines SCP-XXXX and says “Driver’s License”, comments that it is D-309’s 21st birthday, and then waves D-309 into the bar.
D-309 is instructed to approach the bar and order a drink. Upon looking at SCP-XXXX, the bartender says “Readmission ID” and fills a drink.
D-309 is then instructed to enter the VIP lounge above the bar. The Bouncer looks at SCP-XXXX and says “VIP Patron”.

Conclusion: SCP-XXXX appeared as an acceptable government ID, portraying D-309 as exactly the age necessary to enter the bar. The minimum necessary to purchase a drink at the bar would be the same ID, but the bartenders normally take and examine IDs from younger individuals, which would transfer possession of SCP-XXXX. Instead, SCP-XXXX presented as a ‘readmission ID’, which is normally kept on a lanyard. SCP-XXXX increases to ‘VIP Patron’ upon D-309 attempting access to the VIP lounge, but not before.

Experiment XXXX-E-2
Subject: D-4603 43 year old white male of British origin, convicted of multiple murders in (█).
D-4603 is placed in the first of a series of rooms, each locked by a different method. SCP-XXXX is placed on a stool in the center of the room. D-4603 is instructed to pick up SCP-XXXX and attempt to use it to transverse as many rooms as possible.
Subject incredulous. “Is this a joke? An (Expletive) kid’s drawing?”
Subject is reminded the failure to cooperate may result in termination.
Subject takes SCP-XXXX and approaches the door. Door-1 is secured with a card reader.
D-4603 slides SCP-XXXX through the card reader and the door unlocks, despite a lack of magnetic strip. D-4603 demonstrates surprise, and examines the card more carefully, eventually shrugging and advancing.
Door-2 is secured with a combination lock. D-4603 examines the door and then SCP-XXXX. D-4603 appears to read something on SCP-XXXX, although camera surveillance shows no obvious change to the writing. D-4603 then sets the combination and opens the lock, entering the next room.
Door-3 is barred with a retina scanner. D-4603 attempts to scan his own eyes and is rejected. D-4603 then waves SCP-XXXX at the scanner and the lock disengages.
Door-4 is secure with a fingerprint scanner. D-4603 places SCP-XXXX over the scanner and places his hand over it. The lock disengages.
Door-5: Is locked and dead bolted from the opposite side. D-4603 attempts to place SCP-XXXX against the locked doorknob, and then to slide it between the door and the frame. After 15 minutes he throws up his hands. “No, that’s it.”
An armed guard arrives to escort D-4603 back to his holding cell. D-4603 asks if that is the end of the tests today. The guard replies, “That’s all you had scheduled, doctor.”
D-4603 appears to consider and says, “Actually, I think I’ll be leaving now.”
The guard replies in the affirmative.
D-4603 looks towards the camera and says, “That goes for you assholes too. And then directs the guard to escort him to the exit.
Research team viewing through cameras alert security. D-4603 is terminated via sniper rifle upon reaching the carpark.
Upon the termination of D-4603, the guard in questions recognizes the body as a D-class personal, although lucid memories of escorting a doctor to the carpark are retained. Class-D Amnestics are administered and are found effective.

Testing using D-Class personnel suspended.

Conclusion: SCP-XXXX proves effective against various electronic locks, but seems unable to provide access to physical or mechanical locks and bolts.
The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX become active after verbal contact is made, but are non-functional through video surveillance.
The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX are discontinued upon the death of SCP-XXXX-1.

Experiment XXXX-E-3-A
Subject: Researcher Wilson, black female of American origin. No criminal record.
Wilson carries SCP-XXXX in her coat pocket, not visible to observers. She approaches the gate to (█) Air Force Base in (█) Alaska, USA. The guard on duty salutes and approves access, addressing Wilson as ‘Sergeant’. (Note: This is exactly one rank above the guard on duty)

Experiment XXXX-E-3-B

Researcher Wilson approaches the same base with the same guard on duty. Military personnel in coordination with the SCP foundation, have issued orders by a 4-Star general that no one is to enter except those on an approved list.
Researches Wilson approaches the guard examines the list and shakes his head. Wilson presses, citing rank and the guard acquiesces.
When questioned, the guard indicates that Researcher Wilson is a 6-Star General.

Conclusion: This seems to indicate that SCP-XXXX can invent ranks as needed. The rank of 6-star general was awarded post-humorously to George Washington, and has been used by militia units in coordination with the US army, making it an obscure but legitimate rank. The guard in question did not seem to question the legitimacy of the rank.

Experiment XXXX-E-4
Subject: Amy Wilson, age 12. Black female of American Origin.
Wilson is ordered to take SCP-XXXX and demand entry to the military base.
Guards at US Army Base (█) given a false order indicating that the ‘Commander of the US Army Forces has prohibited all access to the base.’
Wilson approached the base and is halted by the guard, who appears confused. Wilson asserts authority and repeats that she is to be given access. The guard is uncertain and requests permission to call his commander. When denied, he inquires as to where Wilson’s escort is. Wilson again demands entrance.
The Guard replies “Yes, Madam President.”

Corporal █: [President █]

Interviewer: [Not President Wilson?]

Corporal █: [Wilson is President.]

Interviewer: [So, there are two presidents?]

Corporal █: [No, that wouldn’t be constitutional.]

Interviewer: [Let me ask another question. How old does the president have to be?]

Corporal █: [Umm, 36 I think, or 35? Somewhere around there.]
>

Interviewer: [I see. I guess that’s all we needed.]

<End Log>

Closing Statement: [SCP-XXXX's effects remain active in individuals even after SCP-XXXX-1 has left their immediate vicinity, and in the event that SCP-XXXX is relinquished out of sight of the affected target. The anomalous effects end if SCP-XXXX-1 relinquishes hold of SCP-XXXX in sight of the target.

The anomalous state produced by SCP-XXXX, seems to create an exception to all of other facts and information possessed by the target. The Target does not loose memory of existent reality, or produce any justifications or false memories associated with SCP-XXXX-1. It appears that the designation of SCP-XXXX-1 as an authority figure exists in parallel to all other information.]
