A catalogue image of nonanomalous DAP DryDex patch compound product identical to SCP-XXXX, taken from DAP's website on 9/2/2017.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: When not in use, SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a climate-controlled locker in Site 19's Anomalous Materials wing. All tests involving SCP-XXXX are to be performed in structures not physically attached to Site 19's foundation.

As of 8/7/2018, it has been comprehensively determined that a floating floor is not sufficient separation to count as a separate structure.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a one-gallon tub of DAP-brand wall patch compound recovered from ███████, a regional home improvement store chain in Washington State. In appearance, smell, weight, texture, viscosity, and taste, SCP-XXXX is indistinguishable from non-anomalous instances of the DAP product.

When applied to a wall and given time to cure in line with the instructions on the back of the tub, several anomalous effects will occur. Firstly, all previously cured patch compound inside the same structure1 will immediately soften and become pliable. This will frequently cause sections of wall or ceiling covering to slough away, typically coming to rest on the floor.

The second effect is more hazardous: any soft or porous material touching any soft drywall compound as it hardens2 in the same structure as the applied SCP-XXXX, whether the original material or the anomalously softened pre-existing material, will harden as well. Water will transubstantiate into a fast-drying, transparent enamel, while biological matter will whiten and ossify into a bone-like material. Once curing is complete3, the hardened material is nonanomalous. No process has been found for reversing this effect.

SCP-XXXX was discovered when the tub containing it was taken from the returns area and used to perform a cosmetic repair on a section of wall adjacent to the Home & Bath section, resulting in the ossification and death of ██ civilians. Dr. ███████ has filed a request to transfer four of the resulting relics for use as statuary in the Site 19 garden.

Test Log 03

D-77208 is located on Site 19's third sub-floor garage, in a commercial "tinyhouse" built by the Monarch Corporation, containing three walls and one ceiling comprised of gypsum board. The tinyhouse is situated on a plastic tarp to prevent spills from making contact with Site 19's structure. D-77208 has been equipped with a sledgehammer, putty knife, gloves, and a one-quart sealed container filled with a quantity of SCP-XXXX.

Dr. Simmons: D-77208, are you ready?

D-77208: Haha, yeah. What am I doing here? A remodel?

Dr. Simmons: Something like that. Please pick up the sledgehammer and knock a hole in the wall.

D-77208: Uh, sure. How big a hole?

Dr. Simmons: Small enough that it's easy to patch.

The sound of a hammer breaking through a wall is heard.

D-77208: That good?

Dr. Simmons: Great job. Now, please patch the hole with the substance in the tub using your putty knife.

D-77208: Alright.

A scraping sound is heard as D-77208 patches the hole with SCP-XXXX.

Dr. Simmons: Thank you, D-77208. Now, please remove one glove, and place your hand on the wall next to the hole.

D-77208: Is this getting you off, Doctor?

Dr. Simmons: No, D-77208. Please don't concern yourself with what gets me off.

D-77208: Huh. How did I get that much spackle on the knife?

Dr. Simmons: Please describe it.

D-77208: It's… actually, it's sort of melting, and getting hard. Like it's made of the putty.

D-77208: What the fuck? Doctor, the wall just fell on me, it, I… it just went liquid. What is this stuff?

Dr. Simmons: What is the liquid?

D-77208: It's, shit, I don't know, it's just like more of that patch compound. Is this stuff safe? I… I don't feel great.

Dr. Simmons: Wipe it off.

A wet sound is audible.

D-77208: Shit! Doctor! Help! Oh, fuck, I'm melting, moh thongue if meaghngn,

A louder, wetter sound is audible, and D-77208 ceases vocalization.
