Special Containment Procedures: The area surrounding the original occurrence of SCP-5530 is to be guarded within a perimeter of 3 kilometres by no more than seven (7) and no less than three (3) lightly armed plainclothes agents. Travel through the area by civilians is permitted, but no personnel are to set up permanent residence anywhere within the surrounding 5 kilometres. Patrols of the surrounding area are done twice weekly to assure the area remains completely uninhabited.

Experiments are undergone every week by teams from nearby Research Site-24 and, by request, teams from Protection Site-87. Unless deemed necessary by acting Director of Operations H. Kharzaid, no experiment is to require hostile action against another member of personnel or member of D-Class. See Addendum 5530-8 for more information.

All Foundation infrastructure in the surrounding area is to be disguised as temporary worksites managed by the National Environmental Protection Agency. Requests or questions of the area's availability for residency are to be denied on the basis of abnormally high radon levels. Guard duty and research team rotational schedules are set on the first of every month.

Description: SCP-5530 describes an anomalous curse having affected the surviving members of Mobile Task Force Omega-13 ("Emirs of the Hindu Kush"). SCP-5530 originated in the village of ██████, Afghanistan, 192 kilometres north of Kabul. ██████ is considered SCP-5530-A.

Recent tests of the area have found that SCP-5530-A, as well as the surrounding five kilometres of land are completely unanomalous. The only exception to these findings is the building of origin itself, which has a wildly fluctuating interior temperature, as of yet unexplained hikes in background radiation, and notably erratic hume levels. The building of origin is considered SCP-5530-B.

SCP-5530 became an area of interest for the Foundation after a report from embedded Agent R. Hakimytar within the radical communist group Settam-e-Melli concluded unusual activity coming from SCP-5530-A. into SCP-5530-A in February 19792, following reports by Agent R. Hakimytar embedded in the radical communist group Settam-e-Melli of unusual activity3 within SCP-5530-A.

Mobile Task Force Omega-13 was sent into the remote village under cover of night to eliminate the occupants of SCP-5530-A and investigate any anomalous findings. All 36 targets were terminated, however operational errors on MTF Omega-13's behalf lead to the deaths of three of the ten man team.

Upon entering SCP-5530-B, the seven agents interrupted three individuals undergoing some form of self-mutilating ritual. All agent's reported members F. Stanika and A. Haider opening fire on the individuals, terminating them. Common consensus assumes this is when SCP-5530 became active, as following a search of the building F. Stanika physically could not leave the threshold of SCP-5530-B.

Research teams were dispatched to investigate the anomalous effects on F. Stanika, and after an intense paranoid response by M. Gul and complaints of severe chest pain by A. Haider, all members of MTF Omega-13 were put into temporary containment. All seven surviving members were inflicted with anomalous effects, unique to each individual. See Addenda 5530-1 through 5530-7 for more extensive details.
