Item #: SCP-5140
Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5140 is kept in Site-██, Beta wing, in cell █. SCP-5140 is to be connected to a local power plant, under no circumstances is it to be connected to the main power grid. SCP-5140 is not to be connected to the internet or similar public networks. SCP-5140 must be protected from any power spikes or power outages. SCP-079 is not to be allowed access to SCP-5140, or its power network under any circumstances. SCP-5140 is to be relocated to another Site in case of a site wide containment breach, SPC-5140 is not to be stored in the same site as SCP-079.

Description:
SCP-5140 is a computer, from around the year of 20██ and of average size. It's an unknown brand and marked with a metal plate reading: "PMC-4".
SCP-5140 has seemingly unlimited storage, tests are being conducted into how much information it can store (see Addendum-5140-2). SCP-5140's database has been found to contain 4 unknown and/or unidentifiable applications, images, and text files. It was found to contain support for holographic projections, 4 dimensional simulations, ~1,073,741,824 colors (ranging from X-rays to visible light)…

SCP-5140 contained 2 text files, 1 image file upon discovery. The files occupy over ██ exabytes of space. Decoding of the files is ongoing.
Computing power of the computer is comparable to the average Home PC from the year 2006. Disassembly of the machine has shown that its component parts are average for the time, and plugged into any other computer, show no signs of anomalous behavior. When parts of other computers were plugged into SCP-5140, SCP-5140 behaved like an average computer.

Addendum-5140-1 (Contents: File-1):
After the decoding of the first text file into English from an unknown language with an application found on the computer. It was discovered that SCP-5140 used to belong to ██████ before being sold off to a company called "1bit-Towkidi". No electronics manufacturing company with the name was found to exist from 1871 to today. File-1 contains information about this computer model, saying that 10 PMC computers like SCP-5140 exist, labeled as PMC-0 to PMC-9. Location of models PMC-0 to PMC-4, and PMC-6 to PMC-9 are unknown, the location of PMC-5 is estimated as ~10,000kms in the earth's orbit. The rest of file-1's contents are seemingly random nouns in random order. File-1 is still being studied.

Addendum-5140-2 (Storage test):
A program was written in C++ on SCP-5140 to write random words into a text file, and save the file once it reaches 1 terabyte, then make a new file. The program ran for ██ days, with █████ terabyte files created. Storage tests are ongoing on an on/off schedule.

Addendum-5140-3 (Contents: File-2):
File-2 was written in English, it contains the names of ██ thousand people, none are alive today, most dying in 1947-2006, the earliest death recorded was 1902, and the latest was 2019.
Many names in the file are major scientists, engineers, world leaders or other influential people. Some mentioned are:

  • Albert Einstein
  • Stephen Hawking
  • Nikola Tesla
  • Leon Trotsky
  • Franklin Roosevelt
  • Erwin Rommel
  • Fredrich Angles

Among many others. The connection between these people and SCP-5140 are unknown.
Research into the connection is ongoing.

Addendum-5140-4 (Contents: File-3):
File-3 is an extremely high quality image of a human eye. Date of creation of the file is 11.11.5040. Other then the creation date, the file does not contain any other unusual properties.
