Item #: SCP-4457
Object class: Euclid
Threat Level: Yellow
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4457 is in Site █ and is to be kept in a standard 3m x 2m x 3m concrete room.
SCP-4457 (As of ex-4457-2) is not to be opened unless approved by a level 4 researcher only for the purposes of testing.
SCP-4457s chamber is to be replaced monthly.
Description:
SCP-4457 is an oak door 2m in height and 0.8m in width.
When opened SCP-4457 leads to a random room each time. Though the room is always different the overall look of the room stays the same. The rooms of SCP-4457 are made entirely of wood (most often oak) with at least two (2) pieces of furniture, most often a leather couch and a table. Other furniture has been recorded including: an oak bed, a wooden chair, a wooden coffee table, a stone fireplace, a small statue of a humanoid entity without facial features, an empty wooden frame (most often in a 25cm x 10cm size), etc.
The room that SCP-4457 leads to is not visible from the back nor is it intractable, all objects passing through SCP-4457s back will be [REDACTED]
SCP-4457 turns all materials in a 2m radius into 70 year old oak wood, the age of the material does not change the age of the wood.
As of the exploration ex-4457-2 SCP-4457 must remain closed at all times to prevent SCP-4457-2 exiting from SCP-4457 (exceptions can be made for testing purposes).
Instances of SCP-4457-2 rarely appear in SCP-4457, they are humanoid entities made out of wood and with no facial features. It is debatable whether the statues are representations of SCP-4457-2.
Discovery:
SCP-4457 was discovered in ██████, Canada after locals reported loud sounds coming from a closed hotel. After the police couldn’t find what was making the sound, Agent Trapp was dispatched to find the possible anomaly.
After Agent Trapp found SCP-4457 detached from a wall, with no possible device that could be emitting the sound near SCP-4457, agent opened the SCP. After finding a room behind SCP-4457s front, agent Trapp alerted the foundation. Object was recovered on █/█/20██ with no incident.
Exploration ex-4457-1:
Exploration conducted by researcher ████ and Dr. Frank.
D-4852 is given a flashlight and a remote camera with a battery life of 6h before entering SCP-4457.
Begin log:
D-4852 enters SCP-4457 and is told to describe any anomalous properties and the room in detail.
D-4852: “It’s a… Big room made out of wood, and it has a table, a sofa and a shair”
Dr.Frank: “D-4852 do you see any other doors in the room?”
D-4852: “Um… Yes, there’s one to the right, looks just like the one I came through.”
████: “Go through the door on your right.”
D-4852 complies
D-4852: “This room looks just like the previous one, just with no table or chair. It does have a drawer though. And the door is this time in front.”
Dr.Frank: “Open the drawer please.”
D-4852 complies
Dr.Frank: “What is in it?”
D-4852: “It’s… some kind of… I think it’s a… clock? Made completely out of wood. Doesn’t seem to be working.”
Dr.Frank: “Please take the item for further research and continue to the door in front.”
D-4852 complies
D-4852: “This room is just, well… full of chairs. It has no doors as much as I see, Just a bunch of chairs and an empty frame.”
████ and Dr.Frank: “Take the frame for examination and return.”
D-4852 complies
End log.
Addendum-1:
Items recovered by D-4852 have been tested, they are both made from ~70 year old wood. The clock recovered from SCP-4457 shows the exact time D-4852 entered the room. All items found in SCP-4457 are to be recovered and tested.
Exploration ex-4457-2:
Exploration conducted by Dr.Frank.
D-5464 is given a flashlight and a remote camera with a battery life of 7h before entering SCP-4457.
Begin log:
Dr.Frank: “D-5464 please enter SCP-4457 and report your sightings.”
D-5464 complies
D-5464: “There are six chairs around a table, one is a little bigger than the rest. There are also a few drawers.”
Dr.Frank: “Please open the drawers and retrieve all items within.”
D-5464 complies
D-5464: “These drawers are all empty… Wait, there’s a… small statue in this one, it looks like a statue of, wait no, it has no face. It’s just a statue of a human with no face.”
Dr.Frank: “Noted. Please proceed to any door in the room.”
D-5464 complies
Dr.Frank: “What’s in the room?”
D-5464: “It’s the same room just with no drawers. And it has a dark oak door in the front.”
Dr.Frank: “Please proceed and note any changes.”
D-5464 complies
D-5464: “It’s the same room, nothing changed.”
Dr.Frank: “Please continue the exploration.”
D-5464 complies
10 minutes later
Dr.Frank: “Any changes?”
D-5464: “No. What is this place it’s literally the same room over and over again.”
Dr.Frank: “D-5464 please continue.”
30 minutes later
D-5464: “Is this a joke? This has to be a jo-”
Dr.Frank: “What have you found?”
D-5464: “I’ve been here for over 30 minutes and all that happens is that the drawers are gone and now all but the big chair is missing. There are no other doors but the one back either.”
Dr.Frank: “D-5464 please retu-”
D-5464: “Oh! Shit. Shit shit shit! Fu-”
Dr.Frank: “D-5464 what is happening?!”
D-5464: “Shit man! This wooden… Human thing, like the statue, just busted through the wall! Shit man! It’s running after me!”
Dr.Frank: “Is there only one?”
Dr.Frank from afar
Dr.Frank: “Site guards assistance requested immediately for the possible breach of SCP-4457”
Site guards arrived at site, D-5464 is seen running from two (2) instances of SCP-4457-2.
D-5464 is shot in the action, his body was retrieved and SCP-4457 was closed.
Addendum-2:
Dr.Frank: “Examinations of the mildly broken statue that D-5464 found dated it to around 70 years old, again. The camera retrieved from the incident has shown the statue to resemble SCP-4457-2 instances, as of right now we’re unsure of whether the statue has any correlation between it and instances of SCP-4457-2. Usage of flame weapons should be prohibited as it may lead to the destruction of SCP-4457 and its items”
(REQUEST APPROVED)
Exploration ex-4457-3:
Exploration conducted by Dr.Frank.
D-7544 is given the statue of SCP-4457-2, a remote camera with a battery life of 6h, and a standard gun before entering SCP-4457.
Begin log:
Dr.Frank: "D-7544 please enter SCP-4457 and report your sightings."
D-7544 complies
D-7544: "Ok, there's just a room. There's a bed, a chair, two drawers and a door."
Dr.Frank: "Please open the drawers and report all items within."
D-7544 complies
D-7544: "There is… a clock, a small picture frame and… the other drawer is empty."
Dr.Frank: "Please enter the door and report what is in the room."
D-7544 complies
D-7544: "Ok… there's a around 2 meter high statue, like the one you gave me. There's also a small desk and a chair."
(scilence)
D-7544: "On the desk are some papers, all blank."
Dr.Frank: "Is there a door in the room?"
D-7544: "No."
Dr.Frank: "Please place the statue of SCP-4457-2 in the middle of the room and leave the camera in a corner, and leave the room."
D-7544 complies
D-7544 leaves SCP-4457. The camera begins sending somewhat low quality video.
Dr.Frank: "D-7544 you'll be returned to your cell"
Site guards outside the cell prepare for a possible breach
5 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "No instance of SCP-4457-2 appeared so far. Though the video is still good, it does sometimes cut out for around 0.5 to 1 seconds."
10 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "Still no instance SCP-4457-2, the cameras now cut out from around 2 to 3 seconds."
15 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "Cutouts again increased from 2 to 3 seconds, to 5 to 7 seconds."
20 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "Again from 5 to 7, to 10 to 15 seconds."
25 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "It just keeps on getting worse and worse. The camera now almost goes to 30 seconds. This is- Interesting, the big statue turned from light oak wood to dark oak wood."
30 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "The cameras quality dropped from 1080p to around 360p. The statues haven't changed at all. I'll start documenting only big changes from now on."
50 minutes after the recording
Dr.Frank: "A sound has started playing. Out of nowhere. It's… too faint to hear but I do see a spike in the audio records…"
71 minutes after the experiment
Dr.Frank: "After 70 minutes, within the last camera cutout three SCP-4457-2s appeared. The big statue is gone, the small one is now on the table. The noise is gone too. The 4457-2s are banging on the wall where D-7544 left, for a dimension of rooms they don't seem to be able to use doors. Guards have been alerted and are ready fo- Well… the camera cut out."
SCP-4457-2s broke the wall and are walking towards the door
Guards are able to inflict damage to SCP-4457-2-B
Dr.Frank: "SCP-4457-2-B has lost in the right hand. It pulled out a plank from the wall, broke it and placed a piece on it's would be hand."
10 seconds later
Dr.Frank: "Damage was also inflicted on SCP-4457-2-Bs head. It took minor injuries form our bullets but they were able to finally take it out. After this other instances of SCP-4457-2 started walking out of the backroom. A guard just took SCP-4457-2-Bs body back for examination."
Guard: "Shut the door! Shut the god damn door!"
The door was shut and the experiment ended
End log:
Addendum-3:
Dr.Frank: "An autopsy SCP-4457-2 revealed it to be made out of layers. The first layer is made out of regular dark oak wood, the second one is a layer of light oak wood and it's empty below that.
Good to know that they can be damaged by bullets, even if they don't do a lot of damage. It should also be noted that after the expiration of SCP-4457-2-B its wood is no longer resistant to bullets like it was. We still don't know if this resistance of the wood is a property of SCP-4457 or if it's something else."
