Description: SCP-12438 is a single(9) pound gold brick, depicting a human skull with thirteen lines carved into it. Foundation personnel has determined that the lineart and the blunt end of the skull were added after SCP-12438 was manufactured, whereas the face, eyes, and ears were later added. It is noted that the various scars visible on the skull are not present in the image of the skull carved into the brick. Individuals who know about SCP-12438 have been observed to display a strong sense of melancholy. This sentiment is immediately felt upon close observation of SCP-12438. In addition to this, SCP-12438 causes a loss of 6% of the standard maintenance of any building constructed upon it (with the exception of Foundation or Armed forces installations).Addendum 12438-01: On ██/██/████, an instance of SCP-12438 broke through an iron fence at the edge of an outer wall of Site-33. No Foundation personnel was present at the time. Only a few minutes later, two large objects had entered Site-33. Upon investigation, it was determined that they were of a compound structure and were composed of brick, wood, and silver, as well as military-grade armor and ammunition. SCP-12438 had been completely destroyed, although there was nothing particularly valuable recovered.

Addendum 12438-02: The SCP-12438 compound in which it was located was constructed by operatives of Team Denmark, under the supervision of Dr. Fao Yan. During its construction, it had the appearance of the tower house used to house members of Team Denmark. No significant civilian casualties occurred during the construction of the compound.

Addendum 12438-03: In ██/██/██, a unit of Marines (Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 36th Marines) came under heavy fire from civilians in a nightclub located at 66 Northeast 27th Street, ██, New York. After the confrontation, the enemy killed all of the Marines but killed ██ the soldiers present.

[REDACTED]: It looks like you will be deploying to [REDACTED]. Dr. [REDACTED]: How do you know that? [REDACTED]: We are close to their location. [REDACTED]: That makes me very happy. This place is also a library. Everything seems very old. Dr. [REDACTED]: Ooh, is that the writer at the back of that lineart? I was just going over my notes. [REDACTED]: There is a library somewhere in here. And then… the back. I'll show you. Dr. [REDACTED]: Did you say there was a library? Dr. [REDACTED]: Are you still concerned about casualties? Dr. [REDACTED]: I never give up on soldiers. I just never die for them. [REDACTED]: What can I do to help? Dr. [REDACTED]: I don't really know. I just need a few people to take this information back to you. Dr. [REDACTED]: I'll call you later. [END LOG] Closing Statement: After the date of this interview, Dr. [REDACTED] disappeared from Site-33.

Three large shards of SCP-12438-1 appeared out of the portal and attempted to drain the light of Site-33. A helicopter sent to destroy the shard was destroyed before it had a chance to properly enter the air. After taking the shard of SCP-12438 into custody, an investigation was conducted by a Foundation Agent. Approximately 15 years after its entrance into the world, a section of ████ ██████ High School was constructed and remodeled to house a new high school.
