Item #: SCP-5383
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5383 is an Alpha-class cognitohazard. Access to SCP-5383 must be approved by at least 1 level 2 Researcher. SCP-5383 is contained within a steel enclosure painted black, with no windows or other external openings. The only access into the enclosure is a single heavy steel door with an electronic lock. A single security guard will stand watch at all times.
Description: SCP-5383 is a moderate size Barbados style recreational swimming pool located in southern ███████. The subject has no visible anomalous properties. If an individual views SCP-5383 they will immediately begin to feel uncomfortably warm, regardless of humidity, clothing, or any other external influences. SCP-5383 is filled with chlorinated "Pool Water" which has been called SCP-5383-1. The memetic effects caused by viewing SCP-5383 are not caused by viewing SCP-5383-1. If an individual or object is partially submerged in the SCP-5383-1, no anomalous effects incur. If an individual or object is fully submerged within SCP-5383-1 they will be instantly transported to an alternate unknown location, dubbed SCP-5283-2. This location is also filled with SCP-5383-1, extending, possibly infinitely, in all directions. There is no known method of returning to SCP-5383, nor has any effort to reach the surface of SCP-5383-2 been successful.
Addendum A: Human Exposure Testing: On ██/██/2008 a test involving SCP-5383 was initiated. A D-class was equipped with a S.C.U.B.A., a traceable GPS, and a radio. They were attached to a tether made of strong steel cable. When the D-class entered SCP-5383-1, no anomalous effects were observed. The site personnel then removed the tether and instructed the D-class to re-submerge. This time the D-class was transported to SCP-5383-2. When the research team attempted to track the GPS the reading displayed that the GPS system was still in the pool. The D-class' radio was still operational, and the following conversation between the D-class and Dr. Sanjay Singham was recorded.

D-class: Hello? Can you hear me?
Singham: Yes we can hear you. What do you see.
D-class: Water.
Singham: What else?
D-class: Just water.
Singham: Are there any lifeforms visible?
D-class: No. None.
Singham: What is the ambient pressure?
Singham: Attempt to swim to the surface.
D-class: Got it.
[Silence for 30 minutes.]
Singham: Is there any sign of progress?
D-class: Nope.
Singham: What does the pressure gauge read?
D-class: Still 10 bar.
Singham: Keep swimming upwards. How much time do you have left?
D-class: Says here 54 minutes.
Singham: We will check back in in 40.
Singham: Is there any progress?
D-class: No. The pressure is still the same.
Singham: initiate your emergency flotation device.
[The device can be heard inflating]
Singham: Are you moving?
D-class: Yes I'm still going up.
Singham: Alright. Notify us of any updates. We will check back in 10 minutes.
D-class: Screaming
Singham: What's going on down there?
D-class: Get me out! it's chasing me!
Singham: Stay calm describe what you see.
Singham: Report. What do you see?
<End Recording>
Closing Statement: After this incident, multiple drones were sent in to attempt find what was chasing the D-class. After nothing was found for 4 hours, they also attempted to swim to the surface. After 14 hours of swimming the last drone's battery died. The surface was not reached.
Addendum B: Drainage Test: on ██/██/2009 a test that attempted to drain SCP-5383 was conducted. The test utilized a █████ brand water pump, and emptied the extracted SCP-5383-1 into a nonreactive glass barrel. The research team retrieved 9 barrels of SCP-5383-1, totaling approximately 378 gallons of SCP-5383-1. Throughout the drainage process, SCP-5383's water level never decreased.
Addendum C: Utility Tests: Test IDs: CT-3443, TT-8467, CDT-3764: [CT-3343]██/██/2010:D-class personnel were instructed to view the glass barrels filled with SCP-5383-1. They reported no discomfort, increased perceived temperature, or other memetic effects. [TT-8467]██/██/2010: A small metal sphere was dropped into one of the barrels of SCP-5383-1, it disappeared the moment it was fully submerged. [CDT-3343]██/██/2010: D-class personnel were instructed to consume varying amounts of SCP-5282-1. Regardless of amount, each subject reported feeling extreme hunger and thirst, and many suffered from ulcers. One test subject was terminated and an autopsy revealed a complete lack of stomach acid, as well as a lack of gastrointestinal bacteria. Each of the remaining D-class were given bacterial transplants, ant their stomachs were refilled with acid.
Addendum D: SCP-5383-1 Termination: A request has been submitted to permit the use of other SCPs in the testing of SCP-5383. The request states that it may be an effective way to dispose of dangerous SCPs. A response is pending.
