Special Containment Procedures: As per its secondary containment class, Parauniversal, there is minimal information on the causes of SCP-001, as it periodically affects the entire universe in extremely unpredictable ways. Currently, the potential consequences of its containment exceed the potential consequences of its continued influence. Although its behavior is currently uncontrolled, SCP-001 events are to be documented thoroughly in the Addendum of this page whenever they occur. If possible, the cause of the instance and the alterations made to baseline reality are to be recorded in the documentation along with a hypothesis as to the connection.

Description: SCP-001 is an intermittent phenomenon that occurs at a proportional rate to humanity's observation of the laws of nature. During an SCP-001 event, baseline reality will be uniformly altered1 in order to add rational scientific explanations for previously unexplained phenomena2. The most recent instance was recorded on 4/7/2012 at 5:58 UTC by researchers in the Scranton Reality Division, hypothesized to be the moment the Higgs boson was rationalized into baseline reality. SCP-001 is considered anomalous, despite the fact that it constitutes a fundamental part of baseline reality, due to the indeterminate logic deciding when an SCP-001 event is initiated.
