Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber must consist of nothing except a table, a metal bowl, a freezer and a tap.
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a large metal bowl filled with water at a temperature of 4°C. It must be submerged in water at all times. The only exceptions are if under testing and/or cleaning conditions, although must be submerged again before 30 minutes after it’s removal. It’s red side must always be under the water except for testing. Nobody may enter SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber unless wearing the appropriate clothing. (e.g hazmat suits, gas masks.)
SCP-XXXX’s bowl must be refilled on a bi-weekly basis. Personnel must enter SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber and remove SCP-XXXX from the bowl. The bowl must be emptied and left to cool down in a freezer for 25 minutes, before refilling the bowl with water again and placing SCP-XXXX back inside. This procedure should be completed during the time space of around 27 minutes. If this procedure is not completed in under 30 minutes, the facility could be at risk.
Even after the 25 minutes, the bowl may still be extremely hot and personnel are still not to come into contact with it.
SCP-XXXX IS NOT TO BE TAKEN OUTSIDE ITS CONTAINMENT CHAMBER AT ANY TIME IF ITS RED SIDE IS ABOVE THE WATER.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a plastic Children’s bath toy. It looks like a green plastic disc with a green seal head on top. On the bottom of the it is another disc and seal almost identical to the green side, although it is red.
SCP-XXXX may be taken out of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, SCP-XXXX starts to shake and become hotter. After around 32 minutes of being removed from the water, SCP-XXXX will start to dash around the room it’s in extremely violently. Any living being coming into physical contact with SCP-XXXX when it is in this state will burn and begin to melt. When being placed back in water, SCP-XXXX will begin to cool down and will stop shaking.
The green side is, when in water, harmless. It will still burn you if it’s out of the water for too long, but can’t hurt you if in water. The red side, on the other hand, still cannot hurt you with physical contact unless out of the water, though it can affect the water it’s in and the air of the room it’s in. When the red side is under the water and the green is above, the water will become extremely hot. Just like when it’s taken out of the water, it does gradually get hotter over time, but it is an extreme amount quicker and there is no thirty minute period before the effects kick in. The water will immediately become hotter and after around 2 minutes will be able to melt whoever comes into physical contact with it. When it is flipped around again and the green side touches the water, the water will revert to its original temperature over the course of approximately 27 seconds. Until the green side is submerged, the water shall be known as SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX was retrieved from a house in ████, ████ on the 24th January, 2020. A single mother had found the toy at a 2nd hand store and bought it for her daughter. Around 1 hour after this event, the mother and her daughter seemed to have gone missing, and SCP-XXXX was discovered in a bathtub full of water. After further studies of the water in the bathtub, DNA from the mother and daughter were discovered and the water was extremely hot. We can assume from this that the daughter brought SCP-XXXX into the bathtub with her, which melted her, and the mother did the same when feeling the water.
Although the water is neutralised when flipped over, this does not mean nothing is at risk anymore. When the red side of SCP-5284 is above the water, it poses an even bigger threat by releasing a gas that intoxicates the air around it instead of the water. Although it doesn’t feel hot, the second someone breathes in the gas, which we will call SCP-XXXX-2, they will begin to melt from the inside, making it even more painful than if you were to come into contact with SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 will not revert back to regular air/water until it is touched by the green side of SCP-XXXX. If SCP-XXXX is simply taken away from SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2, they will remain dangerous.
All future experiments and/or breaches including SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 will be documented below as addendums.
Addendum XXXX-01:
(14:23, 18th February, 2020) around 1 Month after the foundation discovered SCP-XXXX, during regular weekly safety procedures, SCP-XXXX was carefully taken out of its metal bowl and placed next to it. SCP-XXXX-1 was emptied and the bowl was placed in the freezer, though the freezer stopped working. It was left for 25 minutes although it only cooled down by 5°, when it should’ve cooled down around 300°. The metal bowl wasn’t allowed to be touched by human hands because even when cooled to the right temperature it was still extremely hot, so they did not notice that it was the still almost the same temperature.
Fresh water was placed back in, and SCP-XXXX was placed back into the bowl. One day later, SCP-XXXX-1 seemed to have heated it so much that the bowl melted. SCP-XXXX-1 started flowing off the table in the middle of its containment chamber, and continued flowing. Although, instead of just dropping onto the floor and SCP-XXXX simply falling onto the floor, SCP-XXXX-1 continues flowing all the way to the door of the containment chamber, seemingly carrying SCP-XXXX, or perhaps SCP-XXXX was controlling the water. The water continuously burnt holes in the floor that normally water would just get stuck in, but SCP-XXXX-1 seemed to be sliding out of them. SCP-XXXX-1 burnt down the door and escaped it’s containment chamber. 3 people nearby the chamber were melted before SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 were recontained.
SCP-XXXX’s Object Class was changed from Safe to Euclid after watching back the security footage and noticing that either SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-1 are perhaps sentient. SCP-XXXX must now be monitored constantly. Further studies on SCP-XXXX’s sentience will be noted below.
Addendum XXXX-02:
(16:13, 17th July, 2020) Investigations were held at the second hand shop SCP-XXXX was recovered from to try to trace where it came from before the incident with the mother. Owners of the shop (B████████) confirmed that the original owner (John Marblestone) seemed to be SCP-XXXX’s creator. The foundation were successful in finding the whereabouts of John, though he seemed to be deceased. It was originally thought that he was killed by SCP-XXXX, although only parts of his body seemed to be melted.
John Marblestone's journal was found being held by his corpse. The last 8 days of he journal seemed to be devoted completely to SCP-XXXX. The pages will be copied and written below.
