Item#SCP-5298

Object class:Euclid

Description:SCP-5298 is a ceramic toy in the shape of a dragon. It has thick hind legs, small arms, wings, and a tail. It's color is mostly red, excluding it's eyes, feet, and claws. It's feet and claws are entirely white, and it's eyes are painted black. SCP-5298 also has spikes running down it's back that change color after every instance that SCP-5298 changes to SCP-5298-1. SCP 5298-1 will be explained in further detail later. SCP-5298 weighs 9.4 pounds, and is about 1 half meter in length, from tip of tail to top of head. Along with the color of SCP-5298's spikes, it's height also seems to differ slightly after every transformation into SCP-5298-1.

SCP-5298 will select a young human girl between the ages of 6 and 10 to be it's "host" or owner. As of now, we are unsure what traits or characteristics existing in SCP-5298's hosts causes SCP-5298 to select them, besides the previously mentioned specifics of age and gender (female, ages 6-10). The host chosen seems to be entirely random, as distance does not serve to be a problem considering as soon as SCP-5298 selects a new host, SCP-5298 will teleport to it's new host the moment both it's current host and it's newly-selected host are sleeping. SCP-5298 will select a new host as soon as it's current host turns the age of thirteen. Substantial evidence suggests that the time SCP-5298 selects a new host is down to the second the current host was born; exactly 13 years after birth. As soon as SCP-5298 comes in physical contact with it's new host, the host will be attached to SCP-5298 similar to the bond a child might share with a favorite toy. However, no incident has ever been documented where the host became unattached to SCP-5298 before a new host was chosen. One SCP-5298 comes in physcial contact with it's new host, all memories the previous host had of SCP-5298 vanish, and the previous host retains no recollection whatsoever of the "toy."

SCP-5298 remains completely immobile and lifeless, like a toy, unless one of two separate possible situations occur: One, SCP-5298's host experiences a substantial amount of fear. Two, if SCP-5298 receives an impact to itself greater than a force of 427 psi. If this happens, SCP-5298 immediately changes completely into SCP-5298-1, resembling a real dragon, no longer made of ceramic but now consisting of flesh, muscle, and scales. However, SCP-5298-1 does not need items necessary for typical biological life to live, including water, food, and oxygen. It is understood that SCP-5298-1 is not actually alive in this state, only in a suspended simulation of life. There is no knowledge as to how long SCP-5298-1 can retain this state, but it is assumed to be indefinite. SCP-5298-1 is able to process and understand situations with intelligence comparable to an animal, and it will defend itself or it's host if either feels threatened. SCP-5298-1 is also able to release fumes of ignited gases from it's mouth that can reach up to 9 meters in length. These fiery bursts are not released more rapidly than every 6.5 seconds, but can reach temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius. SCP-5298-1 is considered extremely dangerous, and should be handled with necessary precaution. SCP-5298-1 is the same size as SCP-5298, but it weighs upwards of about 53 pounds. SCP-5298-1 is capable of excellent flight, and can reach speeds of up to 72 mph. After no threat is detected by SCP-5298-1 for roughly 11 minutes, SCP-5298-1 changes back into SCP-5298, and is picked up by it's host if it's host is near.
