Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX can pose immediate risk through both indirect and direct means to SCP personnel. Special containment pre-checks must be met by all personnel before working at Site 00, Code named: "The Ring" to prevent containment breach by SCP-XXXX. These procedures include and are not limited to: family history checks, mental and physical checks, criminal record checks, drug and alcohol tests and many more. Failure to meet the threshold of any of the pre-checks will result in personnel being denied entry to the site. This is regardless of the level/class that the personnel is¹. No attempt must be made to photograph or video SCP-XXXX, viewing of the SCP can be done through observation stations located at the site at a depth of 350m at night. Individuals viewing must always be restricted to 1 minute within the margin of error of +/- 1/100th of a second, during viewing Individuals must avoid directly staring at the eyes of SCP-XXXX. All personnel must not exceed one month stay at Site 00. Site 00's Perimeter Ultra-Violet Defence System (PUVDS) and Sea Perimeter System (SPS), must remain operational at all times. In the occurrence of a full moon, super moon, blood moon and lunar eclipse the site must not be left unmanned. Any request for supplies or assistance must be done outside the 20km² site zone and its Perimeter Defence Systems.

Description:SCP-XXXX known by the formerly deceased, German Kreigsmarine Captain ██████ █████ ██████████ as: Leviathan der mitternachtssone (German)/Leviathan of the midnight sun (English). Commonly abbreviated as: Mitternacht (German)/Midnight (English), is a large, dark, aquatic life-form measuring around 45m. In appearance SCP-XXXX has some resemblance to either the prehistoric aquatic lizard mosasaurs, a cephalopod, whale, shark, turtle, crocodile or generally any large aquatic based lifeform.

According to deceased, German Kreigsmarine Captain ██████ █████ ██████████ he described the SCP as being Quadrupedal, and similar in resemblance to the prehistoric aquatic lizard mosasaurs. He also noted the following features upon seeing SCP-XXXX a number of times, these include: a tough, black, scale, armour exterior. A mane surrounding the cranium, entirely made of up of tentacle appendages each with a singular large serrated sucker and a protrusion of a hypodermic like stinger at the tip. He noted SCP-XXXX's eyes are made of seven pupils, 4 are allocated in each corner of the eye with 2 more resting behind the largest of the pupils.

Observation and testing of SCP-XXXX has revealed its strength in comparison to its size is nearly 20:1, with its bite strength being recorded at 90 metric tonnes of force, dwarfing the bite strength of every known living organism. It has also been recorded at travelling at speeds close or in excess of 400kmh when aggressive or agitated. SCP-XXXX is also capable of shredding flesh and poisoning a victim using is tentacle mane according to deceased, German Kreigsmarine Captain ██████ █████ ██████████ . Despite the strength, bite force and incredible speeds of SCP-XXXX it is undone by its inability to tolerate high ultra violet light, either from the sun or any other source such as (PUVDS), therein allowing it to be only viewed at night.

Regardless of the (PUVDS) SCP-XXXX has an ability to switch to a secondary set of innate weaponry, which has been designated as the Passive Phase of SCP-XXXX. The Passive Phase of SCP-XXXX is considered to be the most dangerous form SCP-XXXX, in this phase SCP-XXXX is capable of hypnotism,psychological manipulation,Salinity Conversion², Biological Mutation of Environment³, reality distortion, psychological physical mutation on a victim leading to formation of the sub entity known as SCP-XXXX/A, this is provided if any one of the following conditions are met by a victim⁴:
* They have viewed SCP-XXXX for longer than 1 minute continuously
* They have viewed video footage/ photos of SCP-XXXX
* Prolonged exposure in or near the site of SCP-XXXX for more than one month
* Directly stared into SCP-XXXX's eyes

Containment and discovery of SCP-XXXX: SCP-XXXX was first alerted to the SCP foundation through a field agent located inside of NOAA⁵. NOAA identified a drastic change in salinity in an area roughly 1km² somewhere in the Atlantic. Field Agents Smith, Jones, Roger, Greeves and Alex investigated the site of this anomalous activity using a SCP ship Horizon. Upon arrival the agents confirmed a change in salinity within the area as well as mutated and aggressive versions of the local fauna and flora. All agents sent to investigate this anomalous area during this initial Expedition, never returned. The last contact with the foundation in the transcript logs ended with the lead agent Smith saying:

"It's in the water, its in my head, its on the boat… send Deep Feeders"

A secondary expedition was launched to investigate the site of this anomalous activity using a small unit of MTF⁶-Gamma 6 ("Deep Feeders") Operatives. Entire unit save two of 15 operatives sent to investigate and contain SCP-XXXX survived. The surviving Operatives later succumbed to the effects of SCP-XXXX transforming into the sub entities SCP-XXXX/A-1. Both surviving operatives where secured and contained, later dying after a period of 6 days. All was not lost as both survivors indicated to SCP personal that SCP-XXX was affected by light and could not be seen through normal observation techniques.

As a result of the failure of the second expedition to contain SCP-XXX a third expedition was sent using MTF-Gamma 6 operatives in conjunction with MTF Eta-10 ("See No Evil") Operatives, by then the area of anomalous activity had increased to 10km². Using specialized Sonar developed by the MTF Eta-10 operatives, MTF Gamma 6 operatives were able to observe SCP-XXXX and avoid it to some degree. The expedition however was unable to secure and contain SCP-XXXX. Third expedition resulted in 7 deceased operatives from a total of 20 from the MTF-Gamma 6, none of the operatives succumbed to becoming SCP-XXXX/A forms.

A fourth expedition was sent to contain SCP-XXXX whose Anomalous activity had grown now to 20 km². Doctor and researcher ███████ ██████ through examination of the transcript logs and data recovered from each expedition, realised SCP-XXXX was only observable at Night. Combined with repetitive testing of the flora/fauna sampled from the site of the anomalous activity, and the knowledge that SCP-XXXX was only observable at night he theorised that SCP-XXXX may have some weakness to Ultra violet light. As a result he developed (PUVDS) to test his theory and for it to be put to use, by the MTF-Gamma 6 operatives for the fourth expedition. With the use of (PUVDS) MTF-Gamma 6 where able to successfully secure and contain SCP-XXXX and set up the site known as The Ring.

The Fourth expedition although successful resulted in the loss of life of 25 out of 30 MTF operatives assigned to secure and contain, during the fourth expedition. This was due to SCP-XXXX being in an extremely aggressive state. Due to SCP-XXXX ability to also change the salinity of water and effect an area greater than its own size, a secondary system known as the (SPS) was designed and implemented by operatives from MTF Beta-7 ("Maz Hatters") to prevent the effects of SCP-XXXX exceeding the 20KM² exclusion Zone.

Description
SCP-XXXX/A-1 is the first form of a victim exposed to SCP-XXXX Passive Phase abilities. The A-1 form is a hunched bipedal entity, capable of retaining the hosts intellect, memories and speech. A-1 form will display high aggression to any living life form. A-1 form has semi translucent pale blue skin with notable dark lacerations in and around the head, eyes and feet. Protruding from what was once the toes and fingers are long curved claws. Instead of the usual distinguishable anatomical features of a standard bipedal humans eyes, they are now replaced with large, circular, pale white eyes. Other noticeable features include skin being taut around the bone, some dark scale like appendages emanating from what was once the nose to the fore head and jaws, forearms, legs, left and right pectorals and lower left and right external abdominals. The former teeth of the victim are now replaced by thin, dark, elongated canines.

The A-2 form of SCP-XXXX/A is not too dissimilar from the A-1 form, however there are some notable differences. These differences include many more robust scales emanating from the same places as the A-1 form, including a new set of scale protrusion from the eyes, feet and hands. The build of the A-2 form is bulkier and the skin now radiates a brighter blue. The A-2 form however does not retain as much of the intellect of its host as the A-1 form. Its speech is noticeably more slurred and its hosts memories are no longer retained. The claws of the A-2 form are more conical in shape curving much less than the claws of the A-1 form.

The A-3 from of SCP-XXXX/A is the first time that the SCP-XXXX/A form becomes contagious. The A-3 form is approximately 5-6 feet taller than the SCP- XXXX/A-2 form this gives it a far more slender appearance. The A-3 form is also considerably stronger and faster than the A-1/2 forms, displaying strength to body ratio of 10:1. It is also capable of camouflaging itself into its surroundings, allowing it to strike its victims unexpectedly from the most obscure of places. When SCP-XXXX/A-3 attacks a victim from a concealed position it will attempt to inject a a chemical altering substance using a conical shaped hypodermic needle attached to a tail like appendage. SCP-XXXX/A-3 is the only known form without a mouth. The A-3 form using its hands and feet, which are each attached with three, short serrated claws is capable of climbing walls and ceilings. The eyes of SCP-XXXX/A-3 are large and black and circular in shape. the A-3 form also has scale appendages emanating from its forehead.

SCP-XXXX/A-4 is a bipedal entity which is the penultimate form of the SCP-XXXX/A forms. The A-4 form is in someway similar to the A-2 form, but has differences in regards to its scale appendages, height, eyes and abilities. The A-4 form has similar scale patterning on its body to that of the A-2 form, the exception is the face where the scale like appendages appear between two jaws and on the side of the cheeks as well as the head. Its scale like appendages have been described as being mane /crown like on its face. The eyes of this entity are small, black and number 4 with two emerging from either side of the face just below one another. SCP-XXXX/A-4 is approximately 2 feet taller than the A-2 form. The A-4 form is capable of screeching at very high levels causing ear drums to burst and bleed as well as causing glass to shatter. The A-4 form is also the second form which is contagious, as a result it is also capable of injecting a chemical altering substance just like the A-3 form. To inject this chemical altering substance the A-4 form uses its mantises like arms located inside a hidden pocket between the upper pectorals and lower abdominals, these arms will protrude out from the pocket and latch on to a victim. The injection of the substance will occur though a tentacle mane located on the back of SCP-XXXX/A-4. This mane has the same qualities of the mane from SCP-XXXX.
