Object Class:Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be locked in a standard anomalous object lock box on floor 2 of site 16. SCP-xxxx-1 is to be locked in a separate standard lock box on floor 4. Any request to have both boxes unlocked simultaneously must be approved by a level-2 staff or higher. SCP-xxxx must be kept a minimum of 10 meters distance from Scp-xxxx-1 to prevent accidental activation of SCP-xxxx's phase 1. All subjects under the effects of SCP-xxxx phases 1-2 must undergo psychological analysis and be monitored until deemed recovered. Subjects under the affects of phase 3 must be interviewed with a level-2 researcher, then applied type B anesthetics to further ensure recovery. Subjects under phase 4 will be terminated.
Description: SCP-xxxx is an aged journal with a brown leather cover. SCP-xxxx-1 is a scratched fountain pen of matching brown color and gold lining. While not in its active phases SCP-xxxx has no writing, and SCP-xxxx-1 will lack any ink. The inside cover of SCP-xxx has a torn property label with J.M. written on it.
When SCP-xxxx, SCP-xxxx-1, and one subject is within 10 meters of each other, SCP-xxxx will activate and the subject will enter phase 1. Phase 1 will cause the subject to feel a strong urge to record recent events in the journal, always starting writing in the middle. SCP-xxxx-1 will apply blue ink to the paper, origin and composition of which currently unidentified. When presented multiple subjects, the subject closest to scp-xxxx-1 will enter phase 1, while all others will remain unaffected.
After writing for approximately 10 minutes the subject will enter phase 2. During phase 2 the subject will show signs of short term memory loss. They will begin to say phrases repeatedly, rereading events they've written to confirm whether or not they have happened. This will lead to panic, followed by writing of more events, usually considered important to the subject.
After several important events are recorded, the subject will enter phase 3. During this phase the subject will search the first half of SCP-xxxx to find any events they may have forgotten. Previous pages of SCP-xxxx will now have writing in red ink. Examination of the writing reveal it to only be an assortment of random letters and symbols of several dialects. Tests show subjects will turn to pages with letters closely associated with their main language. During phase 3 the subject will begin to recall events it had not previously experienced. After a few minutes an instance of SCP-xxxx-2 will occur, a new personality combined of the subject's original memories and new memories. Interviews show a consistent set of new memories across all instances of SCP-xxxx-2, but different personalities based on the initial subject. During phase 3 new memories only replace recent events. Therefore after interviewed a type B anesthetic will be applied to reverse the effects into phase two. Any sign of an instance of scp-xxxx-2 within an individual after testing will lead to immediate termination.
If left with SCP-xxxx from 45 minutes to 1 hour the subject will enter phase 4. After entering phase 4 SCP-xxxx-2 will close SCP-xxxx and have no memories of it's previous existence. All attempts to reason with SCP-xxxx-2 is responded with confusion and violence, See test log 19. Examination of SCP-xxxx after deactivated shows no sign of writing or ink of any kind.
