The hotel bathroom
Item #: XCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The building within which SCP-XXXX-1 resides has been purchased by the Foundation and designated as Site-XX. Site-XX is closed to the public, and a Foundation containment team is stationed at Site-XX to monitor SCP-XXXX, as well as prevent any unauthorized entry into Site-XX.
Description: SCP-XXXX describes a phenomenon observed in Room C166 of the Wyndham Garden hotel (SCP-XXXX-1) located in San Jose, California. SCP-XXXX-1 does not display anomalous properties outside of the time from local sunrise to sunset. However, between local sunset and sunrise, the effects of SCP-XXXX manifest within the bathroom inside of SCP-XXXX-1 (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2). SCP-XXXX manifests as a force which siphons "life energy" from any living organism that is inside of SCP-XXXX-1 within the aforementioned time period (SCP-XXXX-3). The rate at which the "energy" is siphoned out of the SCP-XXXX-3 instance(s) appears to be linear, and dependent on the amount of time between sunset and sunrise at that given date. All SCP-XXXX-3 instances have been observed to expire at sunrise, given that the SCP-XXXX-3 instance was inside of SCP-XXXX-1 at sunset; any SCP-XXXX-3 instance introduced into SCP-XXXX-1 after sunset loses "life energy" at the same linear rate determined by the length of time between sunset and sunrise. The effects of losing "life energy" vary among subjects; examples include loss of various bodily functions, memory loss, and degradation of brain function in animal subjects; and chlorophyll breakdown and xylem and phloem blockages in plant subjects. SCP-XXXX-3 subjects have not been shown to recover from the effects of SCP-XXXX after being removed from SCP-XXXX-1, and there are not currently any known ways to replenish "life energy." Treatment via current medical technology to recover from effects caused by SCP-XXXX does not appear to be effective. It is currently unknown as to where the "life energy" is siphoned into; no traces of spatial anomalies have been noted during remote observation of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX has not been observed to affect any SCP-XXXX-3 instances as long as the door to SCP-XXXX-2 is closed; study of the composition of materials in SCP-XXXX-1 show that the door to SCP-XXXX-2, as well as the walls lining SCP-XXXX-2, contains traces of an element previously unknown. Research into the production and use of this element as an antimemetic agent has been approved and is ongoing.
