Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5889 must be kept in a reinforced, well-insulated concrete containment cell. Due to its unstable nature, all Facility Personnel are advised to try to remain very calm at all times when near it, as it can sense any danger and possible threat in a microsecond.

SCP-5889s batteries seem to be able to run endlessly, and do not need replacing. Although, research was halted when Dr [REDACTED] on Research Mission-4 was given a severe concussion and sent into a coma upon extracting SCP-5889s batteries. It reacted by sparking electricity of approximately 18,000 volts in all directions, injuring two other Facility Personnel and a Site Guard.

Description: SCP-5889 (The Radio) is a mechanical wind-up radio of which design seems to date back to the 1900s. It emits a constant radio static, although some phrases have been picked out. While they seem normal in nature, they may pertain to an underlying threat that will instigate further research.

Interviewer: "You mentioned earlier that your team had made out some words amongst the static. May you provide some examples?"

[DATA EXPUNGED]: "Yes. While we are still in early research of The Radio, we have already managed to make out the phrases "spread", "protect" and multiple seemingly human screams."
