SCP-6783

Item #: SCP-6783

Object class: Elusive

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-6783 is kept in a safe, guarded by a vault with a 2 personnel required to open the outer most door at any time, and the locks are changed daily with different guards assigned everyday, and anyone suspected to be under the influence of SCP-6783 kept strictly out of the vault with no exceptions

Anyone proven to be highly effective with SCP-6783 that falls under it's influence are given amnesics to continue work and experimentation with SCP-6783, as compatible hosts, especially highly effective ones are rare at best.

Recovery: SCP-6783 was obtained from a paranormal agency based out of Cardiff when it dissolved in 2009, along with SCP-6782 and SCP-6784, although the connection wasn’t realized until sometime later. The file’s attached to each of the item’s were highly redacted, leaving little known about each of the items, and a lot of testing to be done.

Description: After vigorous testing, SCP-6783 was found to give whoever possess it the ability to temporarily resurrect someone, when the glove was placed behind the head of a deceased individual, lasting on average for around 2 minutes. For some reason SCP-6783 can only be operated by certain individual’s, with some using it to greater effect than others, although the reason for why this is is still unknown. When used on someone killed with SCP-6782, the average time was increased to nearly 5-6 minutes at maximum, again as to why this is is still unclear.

There is a catch however- anyone who uses the SCP-6783 has their life shortened by the same amount of time SCP-6783 is used, and when the resurrected die once more, they can no longer be revived. Another side effect of repeated usage of SCP-6783 is an obsession with not only the SCP, but anything related to death itself, and sometimes are driven mad studying death, and trying to find a way to obtain immortality. In one instance one killed themselves, only to have an associate in the Foundation resurrect them using SCP-6784, a state considered by most to be a fate worse than death.

SCP-6783 has been broken out of containment countless times, as the containment protocols are spotty at best, with no effective work around. SCP-6783 seems to be nearly indestructible, with the only exception being with the usage of SCP-6782. When one is resurrected they begin without any recollection of any events leading up to, or after, their death. Slowly the longer they are conscious, the more they remember.

Here is an example of somewhat successful usage of SCP-6783:

As trials went on the foundation began to realize that SCP-6783 allowed those who were resurrected to recall an afterlife, but anyone aware of the afterlife described by those resurrected is given anesthetics, as it is an extreme cognito hazard.

There are rare exceptions to any and all of the prior information reported. For Example there was one instance where a D class had used SCP-6783 on a close colleague who had been murdered. The D class was so efficient with SCP-6783 and had an immense source of will, allowing the D class not only to resurrect the other agent three times, but upon the third time the D class permanently resurrected the agent, only to die an hour later due to a stab through the heart, exactly how the resurrected had died initially.
