Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Succesfully containing SCP-XXXX has proven extremely difficult, since it is able to teleport instantaneously in a manner that cannot be hindered, and travel great distances, usually to small communal burial grounds anywhere around the globe.
As of now the only way to keep the SCP-XXXX on site is through cooperation with it, which requires sacrificing valuable researchers to the object.
No personnel, apart from individuals selected by level 4 faculty or higher, is to approach SCP-XXXX, and come closer than ten (10) meters (32,8 ft) or the distance from which the contents of its burial space can be seen. For this reason SCP-XXXX cannot be stored in spaces with rooms from which it can be viewed from above.
Individuals who glean the contents of SCP-XXXX will become compelled to enter the burial chamber of the object, and become very hostile when hindered in approaching the artifact. This effect takes place when the contents are viewed through security cameras, 3D-scans, or on photographs.
Faculty affected by this condition are to be restrained by a minimum of four (4) security officers who must remain on-site at all times, and aren't allowed to come near or view the contents of SCP-XXXX.
Security who view the contents, either of their own volition, or through being coaxed, coerced, and deceived into viewing it, thus becoming afflicted, are to be terminated on the spot either by remaining security officers or called-in reinforcements, along with offending personnel.
Footage of SCP-XXXX's contents is to be incinerated without directing eyes at the offending material under any circumstances.
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked room, more than ten (10) meters in length, with stainless steel walls, and surrounded by water, as the object cannot teleport onto it (though it is able to escape via trans-dimensional transportation if flooded). All on-site rooms used by personnel must be filled with water at all times. The minimum water level is set at one (1) meter (3,28 ft), which corresponds with the height of the object's burial chamber.
Faculty is to wear rubber thigh-high fishing boots to avoid electric shock in case electronic equipment becomes compromised by water.
D-Class personnel in diving equipment are to perform monthly inspections of walls and the bottom of the containment area for potential leaks.
Failing to keep rooms flooded when used creates a risk of SCP-XXXX teleporting into rooms occupied by faculty and taking hold of them, which rendered retrieval impossible so far.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a funerary statue of a Roman-catholic style angel in a wet semi-transparent robe, standing 1 meter (3,2 ft) tall and 30 centimeter (11,8 in) wide. It is comprised of a white material resembling a mixture of plaster, limestome, and polished marble.
Further information regarding the composition of SCP-XXXX has been gleaned from incident designated SCP-XXXX-1-23 delineated at the end of this document.
The statue is permanently affixed to a tomb carved out of limestone in an fashion that seems ancient in origin and execution, but contradictory to its flawless condition.
The burial chamber stands at one (1) meter (3,28 ft) in height, two (2) meters (6,56 ft) in length, and one (1) meter in breadth.
SCP-XXXX was discovered by a local SCP Foundation agent, and recovered from a small cemetery in rural ████, France after several missing persons reports have been filed.
There is no agreement as to the gender of the angel depicted. Instances of it appearing male or female do not seem to correspond with the gender or sexual preferences of faculty observing the sculpture.
The body of the statue undergoes a constant, slow, and nigh imperceivable transformation resulting from a water-like substance seeping from it and being sublimated back into its structure before flowing down to its base.
The process resembles the formation of stalactytes and stalagmites. Because of it the facial expression of the figure can take the form of anything between joy or sadness, mostly a grimace of sadistic satisfaction or unbrindled rage.
The process is believed to be the reason for the discreptancies regarding the gender of the angelic figure reported by those who come in contact with it.
The angel is capable of telepathic communication, but remains single-minded it its attempts to manipulate faculty to approach it (usually by promising otherwise unobtainable and forbidden knowledge, or finding rest, a release from material woes, and a sense of tranquility), or expressing extreme discontent and impatience with not being sacrificed desired individuals.
Should SCP-XXXX's demands be met, it becomes inert for the duration of interaction with its victim.
Heat signatures show sacrificed individual's life functions ceasing after they abstain from further attempts to escape confinement in the burial chamber. Movement returns after random intervals, but the individual's heat signatures no longer suggest vital signs returning.
SCP-XXXX has as of yet refused to answer any questions regarding its nature, origin, purpose, motivations, unless the answers caused the subjects' distress, made them doubt in the divine entities they confessed in, their own place in the universe, their purpose in life, lose will to live, etc. Anything that could turn the subjects increasingly susceptible to exploring the contents of the tomb it guards.
It also warned faculty not to try to take any samples, or perform any operations on it using manual or electrically powered tools, as it would simply teleport out of their reach.
Personnel is forbidden from acting against these warnings, and transgressions resulting in SCP-XXXX breaching containment are cause for immediate termination.
Addendum: An incident that took place on [REDACTED] gave further insight into the nature of SCP-XXXX. The incident has been designated SCP-XXXX-1-23
It is theorized SCP-XXXX prefers Foundation researchers as its victims as they are aware of phenomena following death that escape the confines of logical reasoning.
Additional information on the inner workings of the burial chamber have been obtained from the unauthorized actions of Dr. [REDACTED].
After losing his daughter in a car accident he lost all will to live and decided to forfeit safety precautions regarding SCP-XXXX. He approached the object in hope it would reunite him with his deceased daughter. Before entering the chamber he set up a secret workstation on his laptop connected wirelessly to cameras and microphones he carried on his person whilst entering the tomb. The access code to his secret workstation was sent via scheduled e-mail to his trusted colleagues. This proved crucial at a latter time.
SCP-XXXX initially released Dr. [REDACTED] after one day following his disappearance, with no memory of what he had undergone while in confinement. At this time the Foundation hadn't received access codes to the workstation, and the man had no recollection of setting it up.
The researcher was put under observation in a highly secured and monitored room, but dematerialized through unknown means two days later. His heat signature returned to the burial chamber.
He reappeared two weeks later in a physically and psychologically deteriorated state. At this point the Foundation came in possession of his recordings. Even if presented with the material, he had no recollection of the events described, but became visibly distressed. So much that class B amnesics had to be administered.
The scientist dematerialized soon afterwards.
He was never seen again after this point.
The material left behind by Dr. [REDACTED] suggests SCP-XXXX possesses a narcissistic nature and will torment the victim until it begs it to release them and forces them to compliment it. SCP-XXXX seemingly complies only to imprison the victim again, this time for a much longer period of time. It demands the victim humiliates themself when begging to be released and praising SCP-XXXX's intellect and cunning. However, it becomes increasingly dissatisfied with compliments given, and refuses to set its victims free until they lose the will to fight and ultimately expire.
[[collapsible show="+ transcript of intrview conducted by Dr. [REDACTED]"
Dr. [REDACTED]: Is there a life after death?
SCP-XXXX: There is no God. There is only the endless void of space. We are suspended, hanging with our heads down, in the vaccuum. It never ceases. But some fall asleep, and dream of living on Earth. I put them out of their misery. I wake them from their dream, and show them there is nothing to look forward to
